How the economies of nations, has turned the youths to be useless.

I think that due to the traditional education in different countries, the youth are becoming more and more inactive. Especially in those countries where only theoretical education is provided. Theoretical education cannot reveal the creative power of a student. A person's creativity is revealed only when he receives practical education, especially technical education. If you look at the education systems of the countries in the world that are ahead in the technological sector, you will see that they educate their children in technical education instead of theoretical education and at a very young age they can express themselves as innovators.

In fact, some courses are much irrelevant to the society due to technological advancement. But there are many relevant courses like engineering, and health related ourses are limited to few people and can not be affordable for everybody. in many developing countries many graduates are not contributing to economic advancements of the nation, because they are left without jobs, and as a result of that some youths are now viewing the educational system as a wasting of time. Like in Nigeria, educational system is abuse, most especially the government schools are not well supplied with standard practical equipment and other necessary learning tools.

The honesty about all this issue is that it is very touching and it is a real pain point for Nigerian youth, and to date so many younger Nigerian are still moving in the same direction asking the same question right now, idea as a young student who went to school for 4-5 years and after studying a skill in school, he ends up with no job and now he is useless to he self and the community because the system is not favoring them alot all…when you have graduates with certificates, but not skills the market will pay for. That’s why people say some courses feel irrelevant most of the times…

Useless implies the youth are the problem. They are not. What is really wrong is the linkage between GDP growth and job creation, which economists call employment elasticity. Across a lot of developing countries today, the economies are growing and yet they are not creating any significant jobs for youth. Growth is happening. It is just not getting to those that need it.

In nearly every developing economy, there is a credential inflation crisis. Universities are growing, more graduates than ever, but the economy never created the jobs. Now, a degree is more like entry fee, than a promise. There is a guy who has a BSc in engineering competing for a clerical job with a guy who left in form three. Neither of them can access the sector their training was supposed to unlock.

It's incredibly difficult to find a well-paying job these days. Even if it's challenging and difficult, there are no openings, unfortunately. I had to deal with something similar a few years ago. I couldn't even imagine how difficult it would be to find any kind of work that would help me make ends meet. An employer offers a high salary, but with the stipulation that I have to work 12-14 hours a day. And then how will I live? There's no time even for sleep. Is this a normal existence? It's slavery and madness.

I get your frustration. It's totally unfair. Employers are getting too strict and greedy lately. The AI boom has completely changed the labor market. Now you have to work harder to be able to live comfortably. Obtaining job security, seems impossible these days. Because employers are constantly laying off the human workforce in favor of AI.

Due to these and many other inconveniences, the youth has opted not to seek employment but rather take matters into their own hands. Influencers, content creators, and sponsors would be the jobs of the future. Jobs where you are your own boss with minimal effort. Let employers get sucked into the AI hype. They will eventually regret it and get back to the old ways. I sure hope so...

In most cases, the government is in most cases responsible for a bad economy because it is their own wrong policies, and corruption in the path of the leaders that always lead to economic instability.
Sometimes the corrupt leaders enrich themselves, and do things to the detriment of the country, sometimes they borrow money in behalf of the country, but uses such fund for their own personal business or project outside their own country.
A corrupt leadership don't care about the welfare of the citizens, they cause inflation, unemployment on the increase, high crime rate, and in some cases they contribute to these kind of mayhem directly or indirectly.

I also have the same question, why don't they accept effective education and why don't they include all those technical education in education?
In my country, in various educational institutions, the birth year of various political or historical figures, father's name, grandfather's name, these are taught, on the contrary, only theoretical education is given in science, here the practical education system is very poor, in that case, how can a student use his creative skills because there is no opportunity to express his creativity here.
Rather, if in my country a student was taught how to fix a motor vehicle, how to operate a computer, how construction fields work, then our country would also move towards progress. The boys and girls here would not have to sit unemployed.

I perfectly understand this youth, because I had the exact same impulses. But I passed the stage when it seemed like such a cool idea, because I faced the other side of this coin. Freelancing is wonderful when you have enough orders, and regular ones at that, which allow you to earn as much as you need. But when you sit for months without any offer, when you write to absolutely everyone just to get noticed, and they simply don't reply to you, that's already a completely different story. And then a regular job and a stable salary seem not like such slave-like phenomena after all.

It is common knowledge that, the environment that one finds himself has a great role to play in the development  and well being of anyone. This is the reality that we are been confronted today, the economy of Many nation's has turned out to be the biggest enemy of her citizens because, the economy of a nation greatly influenced the living conditions of the people living in the country.

A nations economy can make you or kill you most important the younger generation unfulfilling dreams. Because their dreams were not fulfilled and their God given potentials which is inside of them. It should be noted that a struggling economy most importantly the developing countries, kills talent and value instead of adding value to the young population.

I have realized that economic conditions limits opportunities, making people look useless without plan and visions but that is far from the truth in developing countries where the rate of unemployment is high and no level playing ground when it comes to opportunities. Life is considered harsh because proximity to opportunity is defined by connections and most times through bribe.

You see a young man who is a graduate hopelessly roaming around without anything to show for, because he has no standing when it comes to having a good source of income, doing menial jobs just to survive.

Way's that economies limit the young population

High unemployment
When there is high rate of unemployment, there is bound to be problem especially among the young generations that is growing up. Most of them are caught up struggling without any stable source of income, high rate of unemployment limits opportunities for the youths.

Poor Education and skills development
When the younger generation is not well informed and educated with no technical skills to back up there is said to be problems at the end of the day, because such persons will find it hard to finding jobs.

Inflation and Rising cost of living
When the cost of living of a country increase to a point where the price of goods rise fast it affects the living conditions of the young population.making things more difficult for the younger generation.

Low Wages
One thing that is common to developing countries is poor wages, this greatly affects the living conditions of the younger generations as they can't meet up with the responsibility of the economic situation of the day.

Brain Drain
Youths who are talented and skilled in their chosen professionals may look for where the grass is green and decide to travel abroad. A typical example of the mass movement of immigrants to Europe and the America from nations that their economy is struggling.

Social problems.
It is an established fact that a struggling economy contributes to crime rate , this is because man just has to survive so he can do anything possible to put food on his table including crime.


In conclusion it should be noted that a healthy economy is one that is characterized by supporting Entrepreneurship and job creation, a good education system and most importantly reward for hard work.

Yeah we have the brain drain problem here in Greece. I also am thinking of going abroad to work.

When a country is economically weak they cannot create all the facilities they want very quickly. Even for citizens everything may not be fruitful. Because that country has to spend a lot of money on imports. For which there is no economic growth, many problems do not become solved. But if the defenders of a state become devourers. Then it becomes very difficult for that country to improve economically. But I think, the possibility of bringing back the solvency of such a state is very less. And gradually the balance of that state started to lose. By this the poverty rate of that state will increase day by day and the employment opportunities of the youth will decrease and the unemployment rate will increase.

In my opinion, those countries whose government is not disciplined enough, they will never work for the betterment of the citizens. So these problems will continue during the tenure of that government.

Imagine trying to start a business and you have to start solving basic amenities before you start tackling the actual problem your business wants to solve. Every year thousands of students will graduate and most especially nowadays in my country, alot of them will also come up with business ideas but when they start taking action, you see them also solving basic amenities and the worst part is that the government will still collect money for those "basic amenities". If you then look at your pairs who probably have the same business in their country, you see them focusing on just the problems the business aims to solve, no looking for light or water or begging the government for good road so customers can access your business. There are so many ways a bad environment can ruin someone, I really don't blame those who just Japa.

Although there are some schools that are doing well but they are very few, most of the schools still make use of 2015 text books. I thought they have renewed those text books to the latest one but I was socked when my aunt's daughter came to my house the other day that I should give her some hint about what they are saying in the assignment they gave to them, then I noticed that it was 2015 questions they are still asking them which means that they are still using those old text books, this is more like taking them back instead of moving forward.

I observe as well that the youth in today’s generation also know their worth and they dont allow companies/employers to lowball their salary expectations. Here in our country, I’ve noticed that newly hired employees around the age of 21–25yrs old often do job hopping because they want to explore, expand their connections, networks and also their market value. Sometimes, even if they are new to a company, they can have a higher salary than those loyal employees working for more than a decade because I think that young people nowadays always demand what is currently needed in the economy. They also want to have a work&&life balance, as mental health has a big impact on them. They can easily feel stressed and leave the company if they feel that they are no longer comfortable or mentally well enough to continue working there. Also some of them always say that if there’s inflation then salaries should increase too which i think is a better idea for those companies and businessowners to prioritize.

Nice article OP, however I will choose to disagree with your last paragraph, there is no justification for crime, there are lots of people that have gone through harsh economic realities, but choose not to go into crime. There are ways to confront harsh economy, you can learn a trade, you can learn a skill, at least with that you can use it to earn a living. but hence you've decided to go into criminality, then no reason is justifiable enough.

 If the leadership of the country have decided not to create meaningful employment opportunities for the youths of a country, then it's justifiable enough for the youths to stand up to their leader's and say enough is enough, freedom they say is not voluntarily given, it is sometimes taken. There is no amount of travelling to Europe or America for greener pasture that will help rescue your country for you, if Americans and European where running out of their country for greener pastures somewhere else, would they be what they are today, of course not.

But one of the challenges of the youths is that, can they be able to stand up to their leaders? When a country plans to take itself to the peak of development in line with the modern world, then changes have to be made in all areas, especially in the field of education. Just as for crop production, good crops can be produced only if the seeds are properly cared for after sowing, similarly, to take one's country towards development, children have to be cared for and given the opportunity to grow according to the country's plan. If such a country is open to technology for development, then technology education has to be included in the education system, and if someone is focused on business, then education on how to achieve business prosperity has to be included in the education system.

If you think about it everything about the system is designed to keep people in slavery and I'm talking about the educational system, everything feels like you are being conditioned and programmed to work for the government after everything. The youths are not given opportunities that would make them self employed, it is always something that would make them trapped to working under the government. In most cases there are no job opportunities at all and that's because the government uses unemployment and poverty as a tool to keep the youths under their control.

I don’t think it is fair to generalize that the youth have become useless. It really depends on the country and the situation they are living in.

In countries with high inflation and corruption, opportunities are usually limited. Many young people are unemployed or underemployed, and some also grow up with a weak education system. So the problem is not always that they are lazy or useless. Sometimes the system simply gives them very little chance to improve their situation.

At the end of the day, they will not remain young forever. Once they start having families and carrying bigger responsibilities, many of them will also change. Give them proper education and real opportunities, and they can still become useful and productive members of the community.

True, it is very unfair to call entire generation useless as they are entirely dependent on job opportunity and condition around them.

Even let’s forget about being bored or not, people want to work in a more conducive environment, where their job is flexible and their work is been appreciated. You're right about that, a country that wants deployment will introduce technology education so that everyone can look for areas of specializing instead of combining them together at the end children will not achieve anything. It just like one of the school we have here, all the children was ask to pick thier course from day one. So whatever you chose to study is what they will be teaching you so that to enable them gain enough knowledge in that field they are actually going for, so any country that is open for technology will bring out ideas that will help them achieve what they want to achieve.
