With no doubt, ahead of Lionel Messi, Harry Kane, Osman Dembele and Kylian Mbape and other players Lamin Yamal is the most likely player to win the balloon d'or this year.
Even as the Ballon d'Or ranking keep changing, I might not be a Barca or Lamin Yamal fan but with his achievements last season after winning the Laliga, Spanish Super cup and world cup with a brilliant and wonderful performance by the young talent. He is the most favourable to win the award. I'm not sure if he will win it but based on how they've conducted it in the past whenever a world cup is played he's likely to win it. Mbappe performs better overall but no trophy to speak for him. This is just my opinion.

Is Harry kane a joke lol.. bro performed well last season; scored many goals, won major trophies in his club and played well at the World Cup than Yamal.

If Rodri gets to win this edition of the balon d'or just because he captained Spain to winning the world cup, then we have to conclude that the award does not favor individual brilliance apart from who is in a team that is lucky enough to winning major trophies. what is bringing all these tough analysis is because France did not make it to the finals or else we will see a case where the likes of Dembele and kelian mbappe is looked at as the favorite rather than Rodri. certain, Rodri is a team player and has been instrumental in how his teams both at he club and country level has performed on the overal bases but to me, he is still not a better fit for the balon d'or than even kane.

His role is not focused on scoring goals so this is understandable because he is focused on controlling the midfield area so that it goes well and this season although he returned after injury for quite a while but he was quite successful as a midfield regulator not only at Manchester City but also in the Spanish national team.

Look at how he's screening all the time especially for the last 3 games in the World Cup it shows that he's worthy enough to be a strong candidate.
But in terms of performance, I prefer Kane as the winner for the ballon d'or this season. A record of 61 goals from 51 matches last season in the domestic league as well as good results when he managed to bring Bayern to get 2 trophies (bundesliga and DfB) and managed to record a good record for the English national team which is ranked 3rd after all this time they could not be in this ranking of course it is not something that can be considered arbitrary.

He did a good job in helping Spain win the world cup but it's not enough to be given the Ballon d'Or title, I feel the debate should be between Mbappé, Harry Kane and Limine Yamal and not Rodri but as a one time Ballon d'Or  holder, I'm not suprised that people are suggesting he should be given the title.

How can Dembele be included in this discussion? He missed a lot of games during the season and hardly took part in the Champions League. If you compare him to Mbappe, Mbappe's games/goals ratio is twice as high and Mbappe has won the Golden Boot in three competitions, while Dembele hasn't won one. Just winning the award in Ligue 1 and the previous great season doesn't give you any advantage this season. Rodri, even though he missed a lot of games for City, is a much more serious contender than Dembele because of the World Cup.

Dembele didn't even play alot of league games last season, yet he was  awarded the best player in the league (which was very stupid). I don't expect Dembele to make top 3. A player who dodges his league game because of Champions league, doesn't deserve it, and the league is so weak , which made PSG being able to win the champions league because they often rest their best stars. Hadn't been PSG was in laliga or Premier league they won't have the favor of their game being postponed.  Rodri performance in the world cup was excellent, although I still feel Lionel Messi was robbed off the golden ball (it's very undeniable in terms of statistics and performance). He could have a chance to win , but if I am to pick , I feel the battle will be between Lamine Yamal and Harry kane. Mbappe will take 3rd position.

He also had a two-month injury lay-off during which he missed around 10 matches. He’s gone on to surpass even that. If they’re not going to give this award to the man who finished as top scorer in the World Cup, the Champions League and La Liga, then it means this award has no sporting merit. This player puts in performances of breathtaking beauty, both with and without the ball. The moment he gets hold of the ball, he changes the score at any moment with his superbly accurate shots. Your suggestion is very reasonable but I think that if you can meet all the criteria to win the Ballon d'Or, Lamine Yamal cannot be removed as the youngest. Although Lamine Yamal is the youngest in age, his talent is better than many older players. And Lamine Yamal has performed very well in the current World Cup season. And he is an important player for the club. So if Lamine Yamal gets the Ballon d'Or, there is nothing to regret. Because the Ballon d'Or is given based on the performance and behavior of a player above all.
So it seems that others will not be eligible for the award because they are younger or older.

You realise that Rodri is not a striker or even an attacking midfielder, right? Why would you bring goals and assists into the comparison?

Messi won World Cup's Golden Ball in 2022 and that alone made him get a Ballon d'Or despite mediocre club performance, even though there was a very strong case for Haaland (UCL+EPL+FA and a golden boot). Frankly, Erling was robbed.
