This is not proof of any kind of corruption or the abuse of position in a bad way. It would be the case if something bad happened like that he received money to make this decision. Actually this is the most common way that companies and governments work between themselves, when there is some kind of dispute people try to involve someone who has power or influence on the side that needs to be persuaded to make a decision. You guys are trying to make it so that saying please can you do something is a sign of corruption, when it is a normal human action. This is what I mean when I talk about decisions which you don't like. It is only corruption if these decisions are made for bad reasons, violations of rules or law but if they are then there should be sufficient proof to make a case against him. He is innocent until he is proven guilty.
But think about it for a moment, is it normal to make a phone call and have a US player's suspension lifted just because the president of the nation called the FIFA president? I'm sorry, but to me, that's corruption. If the FIFA president announces that players with red cards will no longer be suspended during the World Cup, that's fine, but it's unacceptable to favor some while others are made to serve their suspensions.

The amount of money changing hands under the table might not be proven, but everyone knows about the refereeing; the rest is just pure bureaucracy.

I went with Patrice Motsepe because it is time someone from Africa gets a real shot at the top job, not just a symbolic position. He's been running CAF, so he understands the politics and the challenges. The other candidates like Ceferin and Al-Khelaifi are the usual European picks. But Motsepe could bring a fresh perspective, especially with how football is growing in Africa. African teams are getting stronger and the continent has so much talent. Having someone from there at the top could help shift the focus and resources to where they're needed most.

I understand what you’re saying very well, and it will be very good that an African will take up the position as a FIFA president however, you need not to forget that an African has been FIFA President, but only on an interim/acting basis.
The person was Issa Hayatou of Cameroon.
He became Acting FIFA President in October 2015 after Sepp Blatter was suspended. He served until February 2016, when Gianni Infantino was elected FIFA President.
I believe that acting president does the same thing as a real elected president, so an African person has been given the position of the FIFA president before. So let us not make it look like an African has not been a FIFA president before.
The best person should be giving the FIFA president position, that is where I stand.

Almost everyone knows about the friendly relationship between Infantino and Trump.

When there is a lot of controversy about Gianni Infantino and the issue of his resignation is being raised repeatedly, President Trump's comments are really suspicious. He said that "replacing FIFA President Gianni Infantino would be a terrible mistake." This quote proves how deep Trump's personal relationship with him is. There is a strong possibility that Trump is involved in the sales decision of FIFA's stakes to Trump's family/relatives in business. Although Infantino was forced to back down from that single decision in the face of strong controversy.

Gianni Infantino can fvck off respectfully. I thought Sepp Blatt was way worse but he was and is even better than this fraud. Bo wonder they do nothing to penalise these corrupt CAF leadership.

Arsenal former manager Arsene Wenger is the perfect name for me.

But then, if he is not the person in line, they shouldn't bring in anyone corrupt or with a pasts record of such. Such speculations are have been swirling around about the current PSG president. I'm yet to confirm that but whoever is coming in should be properly vetted. I will look up the guy with the 2.00 odds. I have zero information about him.

Does a position has to do with racism? He is argument is wash and not reasonable. Anyone can be Fifa president but first, how many African countries are pro football, just few of them and the fact that we can't coordinate a proper Afcon successfully without having problems, I don't think we deserve such position. Look back what happened in the last Afcon when Senegal position was given to Morocco after the final, he should be ashame to ask for fifa position.

Let's build our heritage first, build reputation that if we go international, people will not question our judgement. I imagine what the world would have said if Infantino is coming from Africa, everyone will say yea it's obvious he is from Africa and he is corrupt because of the way politics are played here but since this debate has started, no one has for once said anything bad about his country, they see this as personal influence on Fifa.

In my opinion, the head of FIFA should be, first and foremost, a politician and a tactician. 🙋

What's most important for the head of FIFA? Political lobbying, distributing television rights, and skillfully managing sponsorship contracts... Yes, it sounds cynical, but it's true!

FIFA unites 211 national member associations. A good leader must have strong partnerships with most of them. Even if the other member associations hate him, it won't affect his future career.

A good leader must be able to build coalitions of smaller national associations... He doesn't necessarily have to be a flawless person or an excellent sports coach. The most important thing is politics. When I hear the word "FIFA," I always think of "Game of Thrones." The King of Westeros will ultimately be a great politician, not a warrior or a sage. 💁

Although Infantino was forced to back down from that single decision in the face of strong controversy.

Hmm, especially the transparency of FIFA's decision making is now much more important. But it cannot be directly said from Trump's personal relationship that he was involved in business decision of FIFA World Cup stake sale. Suspicion and evidence are not same thing.

But most interesting thing is that now this criticism is not limited to Trump or Balogun incident. UEFA, CONCACAF and AFC themselves have raised serious breach of trust allegation regarding Infantino's proposed World Cup commercial right sale. FIFA's leadership crisis has become so big that even FIFPRO Europe says that just changing president will not solve this problem. Entire governance structure needs to be reformed.

The King of Westeros will ultimately be a great politician, not a warrior or a sage.

Your Game of Thrones comparison is actually quite accurate  Cheesy

But political skill and good governance are not same thing. If any president can manage vote and alliance very well. But if decision making is opaque then that political strength will eventually become weakness. Again, if stakeholder feel they are being bypassed then the same situation will happen. We are currently seeing real examples of these.

UEFA, CONCACAF and AFC have publicly raised trust and transparency concerns over Infantino's proposed World Cup commercial rights deal. There is also leadership crisis within FIFA.

So in my opinion the ideal FIFA president would be a politician & administrator. He also need to be a tactician, but there should also be strong checks and balances.

Gianni Infantino will remain president as long as Trump has his back and performs as acting President. If you know what I mean, you know.
As long as he has backup from Trump, he will remain as President. He heard everything Trump said. I hate it when the political leaders involve themself in sports. I was kind of shocked to see a red card was overturned. Now everyone knows that FIFA is corrupt as well. FIFA officials are corrupted as well. So, it doesn't matter who becomes the next president. Trump will be there as a Acting president.

You are actually making sense, from what happened in the world cup you will understand that Trump actually has some level of control in FIFA, and for the fact that Gianni Infantino takes introductions from Trump he may still continue as the FIFA president through the help of Trump.
The Red card incident that happened in the world cup was something that was shocking to me, this actually shows that FIFA is biased and corrupt.
USA was not even suppose to host the world cup, but because FIFA is being controlled by Trump USA hosted it.
FIFA is gradually turn into something else and it may affect football very well.

To use a Game of Thrones analogy, UEFA is the most powerful of the Seven Kingdoms (plus the Iron Bank). 🙋

UEFA is capable of putting up serious resistance to the central authority represented by the FIFA president. They have the ability to take asymmetrical actions, such as boycotting FIFA games or filing complaints with the European Court of Human Rights. European football is the foundation of world football, so the European member associations have leverage over the FIFA president.

Infantino is trying to wrest influence from UEFA, but this is a very difficult battle. The UEFA Champions League is a billion-dollar money-making machine. Money equals influence.

Yes that is exactly how companies and governments work and even large organizations, that is why I brought that up. You can choose to not like it, but you can't define corruption however you want. If you do that you will just be saying false things and not getting anywhere. Let's go back to the beginning, from what we know here the president called the FIFA president to make a please for a reconsideration of the suspension. You could say that this is not fair, and that is it political interference and stuff like that but that is very different from actual corruption. We have legal definitions of corruption, you can't just make up your own to mean whatever!

This is why I previously mentioned the exchange of money. Corruption is defined like abuse of power, but that does not usually include preferential treatment. If the president said something look Infantino I will give you 10 million dollars to undo the suspension, then it would be corruption and this is a big difference! There are other forms of corruption that do not have to directly involve bribery, but that is not the case here. As I said the normal daily operations of politicians or lawyers or stuff like that involve calling people and asking them to do something, it happens every day. So let's not make up things here just because it is Trump that did it. From what we know so far this is not a case of corruption, no matter how much you don't like the situation.

If a president calls the FIFA president and asks him to reconsider a suspension, that can absolutely be criticized as political interference or preferential treatment. I'm not arguing that it is necessarily fair. I'm arguing that you need to distinguish between "I think this is improper" and "this is corruption."

Although no media outlet says anything about this, I agree with you. I personally think that there is something going on between FIFA and Trump. Especially when it comes to red cards, everyone should accept that if he, as a head of state, makes disciplinary decisions on the field, then we have no idea how corrupt FIFA is. For these reasons, Infantino himself has also been criticized.

However, I think Trump does not completely control FIFA. Because if you look at the incidents of UEFA, AFC and CONCACAF raising questions about their trust and transparency against FIFA, you will understand. Think for yourself, if Trump really controlled FIFA completely, I do not think that the three big confederations would have spoken out against Infantino.

The decision of cancellation of that red card by FIFA to me is not because Trump has control over FIFA, sometimes we have to analyze somethings from both sides, if really Trump have influence over FIFA he would have fought to ensure his country doesn’t leave the World Cup early, Trump is very influential and i feel that FIFA just gave him that preference, it shouldn’t be misunderstood for control. Ever since Trump emerged as president he has shown love and support for sports and football in particular, he has attended a lot of football finals too, such sacrifices is what actually earned him that preference not because he has control over FIFA, if you observe there are certain offenses that Messi and Ronaldo commit on the pitch but they most times overlook those offenses not because Messi and Ronaldo are bigger than FIFA or any other player but because of preference which they got from their years of dedication and commitment, no one man can have absolute control over FIFA else football itself won’t be fun again because the person will always favor his team.

This is only an assumption because I don't know how you could think that Trump likes the FIFA president even though he was able to pardon US player that was given a red card base on the opinion from the referee that thinks he deserves it.
Trump may be unhappy with Gianni Infantino because his unpredictable and can choose to dislike him after they gave his player pardon and still retain the red card. Trump is a powerful man and also a business man that knows how to play his political games in a way that will favour the American people.

The post-Infantino era: UEFA draws up a plan to reform FIFA
The European Union continues its campaign against FIFA

The alliance led by European football's governing body, UEFA, is exploring plans to rotate the presidency of world football's governing body, FIFA, among the continental confederations. The aim is to reduce the power of the position, should Gianni Infantino ultimately be forced to step down.
https://www.goal.com/en/news/the-post-infantino-era-uefa-draws-up-a-plan-to-reform-fifa/bltc31f4beda802ec9f

As I understand it, Infantino will not survive. UEFA plans to remove him one way or another, but most importantly, they want to reduce FIFA's influence, one might say, to dilute it.
In fact, it's a very good option, because it's one thing to buy one bastard (for example, Infantino) and then rule world football for 20 years until the scandals become completely unbearable and cause a mini-revolution, and another thing to constantly contact each federation to convince them of the correctness of the course.
I'm actually surprised that UEFA doesn't just want to deal with one bastard, but is trying to solve the problem systemically.

You are very correct, favour is not  really bad influence acting assive there is nothing that keep one out from questioning people about their decisions corruption access is the one of problems we are facing today the issues around a decision making can still affect our choice of interest the problems that is associating to increase legitimate concerns even when there is no evidence of cash that change people's mindset.
