On a serious note. No one owes anybody information to be successful. Is if they feel like doing it they do. You're right about one thing though. If too much people know the opportunity, returns will be reduced just because of the crowd in it. But it will still make it expand and maybe create more opportunities. For me, the reduced return is what will make people actually gatekeep opportunity.

I won't blame them, you too find your own. That's just life for you. What I don't like is when someone mislead me on an opportunity. That's very annoying. I hate that. I prefer you no telling me than deceive me. Because the latter will make me loss money than the former.
Yup! and there’s nothing wrong with keeping an opportunity private if you don’t want more people involved... It can consumed your time teaching or spoonfeeding them. some people doesnt deserve any help anyways...What becomes a problem is deliberately giving other people a false or misleading information just to protect your own position. If you dont want to share, just say it direct to the point to that person because that’s a valid and understandable. you dont have to explain yourself why. Take note that misleading someone can cost them money, time, and trust which is much worse than just keeping the opportunity to yourself. Being honest about what you know, even when you can’t reveal everything, goes a long way.

I agree this isn't everyone's obligation to share every opportunity that comes their way. That's fine for someone who would like to maintain an advantage for themselves. Particularly when there is a lot of competition. Which means the return can decrease. There's a distinction between being quiet and lying to others. If you prefer it's okay to just state that you do not wish to include the information in the text. It is important to not give false information just to protect your own position. Otherwise someone can lose money time and trust. I feel in my opinion that it is better to be honest than deceptive even if you don't help.

There are not many people who will thank you in case you share any opportunity with them. It has happened with me many times in past that the people with whom I shared different job opportunities, they not only availed those opportunities but never looked backed at me. This behaviour has discouraged me and now I remain silent but I do agree with your point that we must not give others false or misleading info because that's against standards of a noble person.

I understand your pains, people longer show appreciation for kindness and love, as a nobly man you should not do a thing for people to appreciation you later, it's up to them to appreciate or reciprocate, your work as a noble man is to play your part by impacting life as much as you can. And let the God bless you, remember, blessed as the hands that giveth than the hands that recieveth. When you help others,  get what they want you will Always get what you want. Don't stop because of few ingested.

I also share you thought, for not giving out misleading information to people to punish people, truly that's not a noble thing its for low self esteemed people, it's better 6ou keep the opportunity to yourself without sharing than giving out wrong information, it might cause people time ans resources on wasted stuff. No one reasonable and mature person will do that.

It is resource guarding. When their ancestors came across a fruit tree, they acted the same way. It did not make a public announcement to the entire tribe.

No one thinks, "I am hoarding opportunity because it is scarce, it helps me". No one does. They think, "it is wise, it is experience, it is looking out for you. We evolved to cooperate in small groups and compete between them. Thus the wiring for "help my circle, exclude outsiders" is well established.

Supporting others in the best way possible must be genuine with no prospects of reward or the like. Good man is perceived when grace is liberated with or without the individual on which that grace flow appreciating it.

The right to hold opportunities to oneself is so inherent and more noble than enticing others with deception. Telling lies which lead to wrong direction is also inferior and detrimental compromising act and being quiet is mature act that holds the value of time of others.

Humans are highly competitive and whether we like it or not this Is a fact. A lot of people discourage others form taking the same opportunities that they benefitted from for two major reasons and one of the reasons is that they don't want others to be better than them, this is actually the major reason, a lot of people are privileged to get certain informations and opportunities but they gatekeep and also discourage others all because they fear that the person would surpass them.

This is actually a very wrong mentality to have because it is inhumane to assume that someone else's success is a threat to you.

I agree. It is reasonable to keep a secret, but it's not okay to lie about it. If you don't want to share, simply say so. People can get frustrated when they are ignored for helping others, and they can be less likely to share if they feel that way, but not providing an accurate answer causes unnecessary damage. The standards should be upheld for honesty.

I have a similar sentiment here. Doing things for others is not about the appreciation they give me afterwards. Sometimes people will be better off for our counsel, and never give it back, but that is not grounds for misleading them subsequently. As soon as an opportunity is no longer desired, just remove it from the Share tab. To give false information is worse than doing nothing. It can waste the time, money and effort of someone. In the end, kindness should be based on sincere motives, and not on the hope of reward.

Unhealthy competition, fear, protecting their own advantage, lack of appreciation etc

These are some of the reasons why people who must have benefited from an opportunity discourage others from taking it.

For example: Unhealthy competition - imagine an individual who happens to come across a high paying gig and refers his friend to it, only for this invite to start resulting to clash between this two friends, because one is trying to show off by proving his better than the person who introduced him to the gig,  when next an opportunity comes,  want to gatekeep the information to himself so there won't be someone close to him competing.
What about lack of appreciation? Sometimes one is being referred to an opportunity and at the end of the day, they are not even able to say Thank You at least for letting me on this opportunity, this attitude alone will discourage one from letting others k kw where his benefiting from.

In all, there should be limit if at all one wants to involve others in opportunities he/she benefitted from, either by telling them about it and allowing them to go make research in how to make it work, that way it'll reduce the fear, unhealthy competition and jealousy along the line

I think it stems from the fact that the human nature is inherently selfish, but personally I try not to use that as an excuse for people who behave like that cause co-existences can foster a lot of opportunities too. Meanwhile, some people may sound discouraging and its doesn't necessarily come from a place of greed or selfishness, maybe getting into that particular field they've had a broader/better insight so they try to tell you the cons first especially if it outweighs the pro to a certain degree.

You said it all, the human is selfish by things they do and if they don't find you worthy of sharing anything that benefits them, you can't do anything about it. There are friends that will be in the same room, do everything together, go through thick and thin but if one of them should have an opportunity that is going to benefit the both of them, they will not share it with each other because it's happen and there is nothing that explain it than selfish interest.

There are some families that are bond by blood and everything but I can tell you that there many of them that are not going to share opportunities to each other because of one or two things they don't like about each other. This is family right, there are some friends that are not related by blood, just regular friends that like each other and once there is update and opportunity for them to earn, know that they are not going to hide from each other.

Living together brings many opportunities. The things that make these opportunities arise are the things that make people stronger together. The motivation you receive from your environment is important because you need motivation before you even start something.

Not everyone approaches things the same way. It's not right to generalize when discussing such matters. Some people might support you in everything, while others might not want you to succeed. The important thing is to choose the right people to surround yourself with.

Let’s rephrase the question slightly without changing the essence: Why don’t successful businesses reveal all the secrets behind their success and share their models, patents, business logic, business plans, and so on with everyone? The answer is simple, why should they share all that with everyone? For them, this is a problem:
- the time, effort, and money spent to achieve such results, often with PROBLEMS along the path to success
- creating competitors for themselves with their own hands - that’s STUPID

Yes it is happened quite often, mostly when we introduce an opportunity to someone, it requires lot of effort. And we already gone through struggle,  hardwork and difficult time then able to get good positions. But those who look us from outside they don't know the true or complete picture of our journey. They just think that we are lucky having good positions.

Our friends or relatives oftenly begging or asking us for the job but when we recommend those for the opportunity they are not ready to make same level of sacrifices or struggle that we did, they start blaming or cursing us or pretend that as if we are not their well wisher but actually we deliberately trap them in difficult situations. So because of this many people prefer to keep their job and progress in secret. They do not share any job details or position in good words. Instead they just misinterpret the situation and  claiming that they are earning small salary or that their circumstances are not easy or them. It is better rather to face backlash and jealousy from friends and relatives.

Let me digress a little and while this might sound funny, we know it’s a reality for some;

Some of the many businesses we have there are just a cover for some illegal deals like, drug and human trafficking being on at the side. Having to expect such persons in those business to give you details on their dealings would mean jail time.

Then again,
There is such a thing called trade secret. Every thriving business and trade would always have one, it’s what makes a business unique and keeps a loyal customer. Give that off and you would find yourself competing for customers. No business would want that, they would rather like to monopolize what they could and make the most out of it. They rather expand than give out these trade secrets, it’s just normal.

I also wonder about the same thing and I find it very ridiculous that someone would hide an opportunity from others even though it doesn't stop him from earning just because he doesn't want people to be on the same level with him. On the other hand there are people that don't know how to sacrifice and put in the hard work to succeed but they only see the easy part which seeing you live a good life and they assume that no sacrifice was made to achieve that success and when you show them that same opportunity you had and they fail to succeed they assume you don't want to help them and accuse you of hiding the real opportunity so I don't really blame people that hide opportunity from others, and as long as it doesn't affect my earnings I would never hide an opportunity from people that I trust.

I am not surprised when they do that.
They protect their source of living and so to eliminate competition and people trying to take over their jobs.
A person's survival creates opportunity that others don't want to see them do the same thing, due to scarcity thinking.

Greed and the mindset of dominance is also whey they do this because the space should be big enough to accommodate other who would love to do the same business but instead they discourage them so only them can continue doing the business which is too bad in my own opinion. Since we have noticed the tricks of business owners if you are going around looking for a good business may be it will be best if we do the background check without involving anyone who's into the business in that area.

A meaningful conversation, I love this topic, because something like this has happened to me before, there was a time I had a huge amount and I wanted to invest it into a business and I met a friend of mine doing a particular business, I don't want to mention names, so I discussed with him, about it and before now, he had already told me alot about the business and even the amount he started it with, so I went to pay him a visit in his house and I told him my plans of joining him to do that particular trade and the first thing he did was laugh and he asked me how much I had, I told him the amount and you could see his facial expression, it was really horrible, because the amount was far bigger than the amount he started with. So he was like, this business doesn't require that amount of money, you should use it to do some other businesses that are more profitable, and I asked him why, his reply was that the business isn't moving well this period and I told him I could learn from him, so he can teach me What Goods to buy for this season and what not to buy, he was like, bro, you can be a big boy from doing other sharp business, claiming his business is a dirty business and not for fine boys like me, and then I told him fine, I will leave and think about it. Since that day, I deleted his number, I knew he was jealous, selfish and greedy. He wanted only him to be the supplier of that particular product. So people are always scared that you will outshine them and take over their customers, this is why they will never encourage you. If you want to learn about a business, please do a proper research on your own. Read about it online before going to ask anyone, I will even prefer you ask stranger than asking people you know...

It can't be stopped that someone is going to do business from the same thing of what you do.
That's competition and as long as there's a free market, there's a free competition that can happen until someone is out and can't bear it anymore.
While being greedy is subjective based on the context of what people does. If it's about livelihood, those who are not honest doing business will get eliminated even if they're the ones discouraging others about the free trade.
