It is probably because they don't want others to be on the same level as them, a lot of people see others as a threat to them that's the reason why they discourage them from taking the opportunities that they benefitted from. While the mentality of others is that if people found out about what gives them an opportunity then it would stop working for them. It is important to always give people the necessary informations that they need to grow in life instead of gate keeping these informations. That's not protecting your source of income it is just greed and not genuinely happy to see someone else grow.

Yes, I have seen a lot of people who hide opportunity or information that has benefited them from there friends or people related to them, simple because they don't want them to have an access to the link or they think if they do, they might have a greater benefit more than them. Another thing, that makes people discourage you from benefiting from what they have already benefited is greediness and wickedness, because I do not see any reason why you will keep good things from people who are close or related to you, if it is not evil heart. I know of someone that the only time he comes to give information about an opportunity is only when he had heard that the investment will soon crash, that is the only time he will run to you and tell you in a convincing way that will make you fall for it immediately, simple because he does not want to see you around good thing.

I have been in the situation where someone I see as a friend and brother kept some information of something that has benefit him for long from me, but I later got the information from someone that's not that close to me, he later learnt of it and got angry, and confronted the guy that's was when everything was made open to me that, he has been the one telling them that they should not give me the information, he reason was that I might likely become more successful than him which wouldn't go down well with him, I know that we have ungrateful fellows, but as far as you you become what you are through someone else, you should know that owe people same favour.

First of all such person shouldn't even be regarded as a friend because a friend is one who sees opportunities and share with the cycle of friends. But what I think discourages some friends from sharing idea is the challenge, difficulty and potential risk that might be involved, because if the opportunity involves money or some capital that might be at risk most folk don't like to put other to the risk they took because it's a 50/50 something, it might work for him and not work for you and you end up think he's not trying to be truthful about what he does. However, the thought of friends becoming more successful than them if shown the opportunity is quite unreasonable, but people can just do crazy things you never could imagine. And I understand that some people can actually be very ungrateful but that shouldn't stop people from sharing opportunities info IMO

Some friends are just so wicked to an extent that they don't even care about the repercussions but they will just want to put that friend in problem or even plot against him with the mentality that he kept such information as a secret to them while they are friends. I have heard about cases where someone introduced his friends to the business he does and they caused a problem that almost landed him in prison. A lot of insane things are happening now, people cannot be trusted with the business that you're doing and another thing is that you might be doing a business and become successful but you can introduce someone to same business and they won't make it which often leads to hatred from such a person because he will be feeling that there are things that you are doing to be successful but you don't want to tell them everything.

I like this part where you said if someone becomes successful through another person help they should be willing to extend the same favor to others but to some kinds of people they want to progress alone and I can relate to what you are saying because I have being in that kind of situation before and what most of us actually need to understand is that success should not make us selfish or envy someone else who is doing better than us or someone coming up instead, we should be happy to see people around us grow and most attimes the person we refuse to help today may even be our helpers later on tomorrow, like is just like a football game very unpredictable.

There is a difference between saying do your research before joining and deliberately making an opportunity sound useless simply because you do not want more proper competing with you. People sometimes want others to succeed but only up to the point where that success does not compete with their own.
So I’m curious, is this simply normal human competition or does it become unfairly holding others back?
Any one that tell you to go and do research in any business their benefitting doesn't wan to help you, because there is absolutely nothing to research about again since they have already done it and is benefitting. Any one that will help you won't stress you, they will do it without stress, but is the ones that font what to help that take long to do it. Because they don't have you to grow like them, they want you to be under them and be begging for help. I always pray we all have opportunity to extend to others, this world is a market place no one will.stay forever so there is no need to hid opportunity from your loved ones, where you're benefitting let others benefit, so doing families are blessed, billionaires are raised. Hiding opportunity because of fear of competition will not help anyone in any ways, let's stop the wickedness and love each others.

Everyone's ideology on this is quite different, for some people they see others as a competition or a threat to them so that is the reason why they prefer to discourage them from taking the same opportunities they did. The fear of other people surpassing them is something That makes them gatekeep informations that can change another person's life. Then there's also a category of people that are scared of putting people on because they think that the moment they do that whatever opportunity they have would stop working for them.
At the end of the day people have their own psychological construct about this but my take is that discouraging others from taking opportunities that you know can be beneficial to them shows that you have ill intentions. There is nothing wrong if a person is given the right informations to take advantage of that doesn't really mean that their success is a threat or stumbling block to yours.

I think these could come from both sides, like the negative and positive side, some people can discourage others because of fear of you competing with them, and also some people are so prideful they feel that once they let you into the opportunities they're benefited from that just may be you won't give them that respect anymore, they will probably feel less in your eyes.
I can remember one senerio that happened at a particular spot, my younger sister wanted to sell food so we started asking people if we can pay for the place and a Lady that sells food said we shouldn't because nothing works there and another guy there was so upset that we should have asked him before meeting the owner of the spot, I had to tell my sister and we quickly paid for that spot and that very place was a good location for that business. Some people for sake of fear that they don't want you to be successful as them and you competing with them, they discourage you.
Some people can also come from the place of failure, like people who must have benefited from an opportunity that later failed they won't advice you to go into it so that you won't hold them responsible for it. Opportunities come and goes so sometimes someone who benefited from an opportunity today might not be the same next time, so must person will rather discourage you because they're not sure about it.

The world respect people that has money, when you don't have money you don't get respect so people that have money don't want others to have money like them. So when there opportunity that will go around for other people to get money, they see it like a threat because they don't want those people to ascertain such position to be respected, many people don't even want their friends to have money like them, they are naturally stingy and doesn't want them. This behavior is very common even in job places, instead of making the jobs available for everyone, they make it a nepotism place where they only employed people that are close to them, they don't like to share opportunities to outsider simply because they don't want them to occupied such position. The human mind is just wicked when it comes to sharing opportunities.

A person might not want their environment to develop and take advantage of opportunities, and may act selfishly in many ways. They may not even care whether this behavior is right or wrong, and may see it as a choice. Everyone can have different opinions on this and similar issues. People tend to behave according to what they see around them. Sharing opportunities is a choice, and while some choose not to, others want those around them to benefit from the opportunities they themselves have gained. The biggest factor determining these behaviors is again the behavior of their environment.

Lately I’ve been thinking about something I find interesting about competition. Why do some people become very supportive of an opportunity when they are the ones benefiting from it but suddenly become negative about it when other people discover the same opportunity?
For example someone discovers a business opportunity or another legitimate way to earn, they participate, benefit from it and continue doing it but when another person now ask about it or wants to join, the attitude suddenly change. I understand that competition can reduce someone’s individual advantage. If more people enter, opportunities can become competitive and the reward eventually reduces. So from a personal perspective keeping an opportunity to yourself can make sense is discouraging others really the same thing as protecting your own interest?
There is a difference between saying do your research before joining and deliberately making an opportunity sound useless simply because you do not want more proper competing with you. People sometimes want others to succeed but only up to the point where that success does not compete with their own.
So I’m curious, is this simply normal human competition or does it become unfairly holding others back?
When people have a hidden motive of not wanting you to do better than them, even if they somehow wish you well. It is all basic human jealousy. The moment you innocently ask them for clues as to how they attain their success, they will instantly change their mood because deep down, they dislike competition. They love to be the only successful in the group. A true and real friend will happily share their wealth with you and also put you through on how to become self reliant.

Humans naturally love doing things without competition, but again, I don't think situations like this are always the same for everyone. Some people genuinely have good intentions and want others to become successful like them, but they may find it difficult to help especially when achieving those things goes beyond giving normal assistance. Most people's journey to success were never smooth and the level of discipline is not entirely something that can be transferred to someone else. I'm not a fan of those who discourage people from taking opportunities, in fact, I think it's best to explain things exactly as they are without sugarcoating, but again, the process of pursuing can be overwhelming and tiring for the people who shows interest. It's one thing to have interest or taste for success, and it's another thing to have the hunger to achieve that success with or without assistance.

The answer you seek is not far fetched, the truth is nobody wants you to be better than them, that’s why they try their best to discourage you from taking that same path they took that worked for them. Everyone want to protect their empires, I don’t blame those that do that though, because there are people you will tell the secret of what you are doing and they will broadcast it to other people and before you know it, what you held as a secret will become very common, and if you are not careful you will lose the advantage over them. Trying to be protective of what put money in your pocket by discouraging people you don’t trust is not a bad thing. But some people might see it as being wicked, but it is better to be called a wicked person than to allow someone to come spoil what put food on your table.

There are some restrictions on what we can share with others if we're having a successful run for our business. We just can't tell all of our trade secrets and secret recipes if we're in the food business. The person who asks that can understand why some have limited words to say to these questions, because who knows if they come up in the future and become a potential candidate as a competitor. But I think someone who's so established with their business won't mind telling all of those secrets when they know that the market is tough to compete with and they already have a system that's so established that it can run with minimal supervision and they have repeat customers.

Hiding opportunity because of fear of competition will not help anyone in any ways, let's stop the wickedness and love each others. I think it's a good point. It's okay to send someplace to do their own homework. Particularly when there's a degree of risk in the opportunity, but it's important to have a clear intent behind the advice. That's a different story if someone has already had a chance at something. Then tells people that it is not and deliberately makes it seem that way because he or she does not want to be out-competed. I don't think everybody has to share all opportunities with all other people, since. If there is competition there is competition. The unfair thing is that someone actively misleads or dissuades others from something beneficial because it is good for the person, rather than the other person. I think that it's not like helping people grow means you lose out on your chances of success. Shared opportunities may lead to even more opportunities for all. And it doesn't serve anyone to keep all the opportunities to themselves.

How will I rely on him when he has done the worst, some people are just short sighted in terms their vision, that's why it will be very difficult for them to grow financially, they don't think that lifting others is necessary, and one thing I have come understand is that, people like this are threatened by how fast you learn, that's why they see see you being in competition with them, unknowingly to them that you don't give a fuck.

There are some human that are self-centered that they hardly express their feeling wellbeing that benefits them to others that actually truth in most cases it's as result of the condition attached to what leads to their breakthrough or whatever they benefits. Not everyone that is willing over someone success is ready to go through that part because some readiness can be tested even read by the faces, there some sacrifice involved in some breakthrough that the successor keeps secret until he meet such minds capable of going through them because revealing to someone who is not capable may cast or bringing down fall of the breakthrough.

That is competition but eventually the other person will also learn about it.
Now if that second person is a trustworthy and can be a worthy business partner, then why not start the journey with them? Many times the other person will not be interested and back out in which case you are only in luck and they cant say later that you did not tell them or have a valid reason to hold a grudge against you.
Often two people competing for the same business will not always do well, you never know your competitor might end up being very bad at it and anyway move away.
I agree and it is true that competition is always a part of any business, but deliberately hiding every possible opportunity from others is not a good thing. It does not make person good. If you hide opportunity from someone there are other people who might avail the opportunity and become better than you. If someone is good enough and trustworthy and also has the right potential to be a good business partner then it is completely fine to start the journey to get there and also share the benefits with each other. Sometimes working with each other cooperation can become more beneficial than working against each other. Sometimes if we share opportunity with someone it might be a possibility that they are not that serious interested in availing that opportunity or might not have the required amount of education or skill. Having competition does not mean that every competitor will succeed and become better than you . Sometime having competition can give you more energy to work better and become better
