Lol, it is just an unfortunate coincidence. You wouldn't ask a home seller if they own any cryptocurrency before buying their home, would you? Nobody is going to reveal that information to you. Let's say you manage to get the weird question out, there is also no way you can verify their answer, so it is useless.

Some people showcase their crypto assets online just to show off. In some cases, they even go to the extent of showing their home addresses. Others offer crypto-related services and must advertise them online. Maybe doing a simple search on the internet about the former owner wouldn't be a bad idea.

Those data breaches are no joke but the company who caused the data breach usually only swept it under the rug as if it's nothing.

Honestly those data breaches should be the utmost concern because it involves the safety of their customer from a wrench attack.

Companies care about their reputation more than the safety of their customers. The standard practice when there is a data leak is to seek means to curtail it and inform those affected immediately. But they prefer to keep it secret because making the data breach public might reduce public confidence in them.

That seems very possible because the previous owner might have sold the house for his own safety however it's not good to sell your house to someone else who might also get targeted by the criminals who're after you. A couple in France's Somme department was targeted in three home invasions in less than a month after buying a former crypto millionaire's house. According to ChainCatcher, criminals had obtained the previous owner's tax details and address from the dark web and mistakenly believed the new residents held about 1 million euros in crypto assets.

The first intruder was driven off by the family's dog, while the second attack involved the residents being subdued and the assault being livestreamed on Snapchat before the attackers fled after realizing they had the wrong target. A third attempt was stopped by an alarm system. An Amiens criminal court later convicted two men, aged 20 and 21, for involvement in the third invasion and sentenced them to three years and 18 months in prison.

Why are robbers in France drawn to crypto-holders like bees to honey? Is there no criminal penalty for this? Or do they imagine they’ll instantly become fabulously wealthy? What’s the reason? Or does the illusion of anonymity surrounding bitcoin lead them to believe that no one will be able to trace the money? One gets the impression that criminals in that country have a real thing for cryptocurrencies.

Before you say that France is the top priority target for wrench attackers think again, it will reach everywhere soon, in my country whenever people who don't know alot heard about crypto they will call you a millionaire, just like that.

It's the question on France leaking the data of almost everyone. For sure it might reach everywhere soon, but the criminals will have to work double time to identify potential crypto holders. But here, the data is exposed that's why they were attack by 3 criminal groups.

Evidence that Data protection is just in writing and means nothing when stuff gets real! And for a millionaire, how active do you have to be to have this information available online..?

This is not just a crypto person but a "crypto millionaire", and I think this guy got a hold of this leak and left the house for his safety (and the family) and not telling the incoming house owners.. perhaps house renovation can help and probably just a note to say your crypto guy doesn't leave here any more, or maybe work with the authorities for a change of address whatever will call off these break ins.

That's really dangerous and the new owner doesn't have an idea why they're attacked at first.
I guess this sets as a warning for the next profit takers for the next bull run.
If ever you've got some profits and plans to buy a house, you have to know the background of the seller.
It's okay to keep on asking everything for the peace of mind. But you can't force them if they are good in hiding their relation and past about being a crypto millionaire.

Sometimes you don’t need to tell people or brag about your crypto reserves. You just need to be a law‑abiding citizen who pays taxes on time and is listed in some government documents.. And then someone very unscrupulous simply sells your data. After all, that’s exactly what happened, "a corrupt tax service employee was selling the dossiers of wealthy investors."

The investors here weren’t braggers, nor were they people who were trying to promote themselves through crypto.

if you think about it more deeply, the question arises: do we really need to be so law‑abiding and follow the rules if the places where we entrust our information can easily leak or sell our data? What was that? A glitch or an error? But the result turned out to be disastrous for many.

Data leaks are a very big problem, and also trusting the government on everything, including protecting our data, is misplaced trust  . The government always screws us up every time

This is why I am not comfortable with exchanges sharing out data with the government. On top of the information getting stolen or leaked by an exchange, now I have another government leak to worry about.

I am thinking the previous owner of the property sold it off for the same exact reason. Security threats.

Publicly exposing yourself to be a crypto holder is what is causing this wrench attack in this people. They’re innocent but because they’re in the house of a person whom felt publicly exposing their crypto asset is the new lifestyle, they’re not paying for his ignorance. I hope the attack stops now after convicting to people for the attempted robbery attacks.

He may still not be safe in his new location because there could still be a trace leading to him again. I hope he has learnt from his mistake and won’t try to impress about his owning again. Crypto is the new oil money, so anyone that is found having one, they’ll be target and could cause harm to their lives and properties.

This does show that people need to be extra careful when buying any form of building; the previous owner doesn't have to be a crypto enthusiast. This should be treated as an eye-opener for crypto enthusiasts about prioritizing privacy, especially when purchasing things or providing online platforms with their private information, because some bad actors are selling crypto enthusiasts private information on the dark web.

In the meantime, I also believe the French government also needs to do something because the violation of people's privacy and physical attack of crypto enthusiasts is happening many times there.

He may not need to do an identity change or something as far as wanting to relocate to another country for safety I think, just understanding that he is now a target and he's at risk of being robbed, kidnapped or even something worse, security consciousness needs to be the most paramount thing to focus on. You have to put in place security measures to ensure that there is no attack, and even in the situation of an attack that you are well prepared to handle it. The problem is when you are a target and do not know that you are a target or when you know you are a target and you do not do anything about it.
