For me o, I feel like say na this talk of say secret or say people dey put eye na make some of us no want make this changes, make e for no be like say we get something to hide. But the motivation for this suggestion dey different and the link dey for the OP.

About 70-80% of Nigerians both in and out of the country speaks and write pidgin very well. It's almost everybody's first language with English being the third.( Aside your native language). I wrote many discussions, many thread, many guides on this board all in pidgin. It was lengthy but possible because pidgin is my second language. But I don't always put every discussion in pidgin, not because I dey form or something but because I believe everyone here on the local board can read any of those two languages. So it would be wrong to say that people who chose not to write in pidgin are selfish( dey form).

I honestly understand why it is even becoming more important for the local board to be in pidgin, because of how we now have perpetuators here. It simply won't stop them from coming or would change any thing. We just have to find better ways of identifying these persons or like igebotz opinion, make your threads pidgin restrained.

They do not even need to report it, they can make it self-moderated. Someone like me is not going to post there and leave it for the people that are afraid. If they like they should make a single mistake, that will be when they will know that posting in pidgin alone on the local board will not help them.

It is because there is no single forum rule that stops you from posting in a Local board you’re not native to, you can post in any local board so far you can speak and write their language or if you have something you need to say there and you translated your text. The problem is when you claim to be native to that Local board when you’re not.

Anybody that says he can’t speak pidgin is a suspect to me except you are not born and raised in Nigeria, and If you are not born and raised in Nigeria, and for that, you cannot speak or write in pidgin, those not mean you can’t learn, the local board will give you an opportunity to learn pidgin and if you are not interested to learn then you post in the main boards after all, the only thing we are discussing here in the Nigeria main board is crypto especially bitcoin.

The problem no even be make people no know wetin dey happen here, anybody dey free to know, but na to reduce how people from oda boards dey take come here hide, when dem commit for outside, e go dey count as dirties for our LB. Such proposal might likely cause division on the local board as you have said which is not going to go down well with the locals. I think just as our lb mod has said in one of his early post here on this thread that anybody creating a thread or topic should indicate the language for which they want to communicate with on that topic matter so that everyone who sees it would know and have that consciousness on the thread rules of pidgin before they proceed so that if their post's are deleted it would not get them upset. Maybe this rule could help maintain the pidgin inclusiveness on our local board.

Just as many people have already said here, it’s  not everybody that can write in pidgin especially when it comes to writing in a discussion forum like this. If we make the local board strictly pidgin, that will chase away some valuable people that don’t really know how to write much things in pidgin.

Also  Nigerian Pidgin have slangs that are not common in everywhere, let’s say for instance the local board turns strictly pidgin and someone from port harcourt writes a post in the pidgin he considers very normal but it includes some slangs that someone from other part of the country might probably not understand, how do you expect fluent communication from a scenario like this?

It is better as it is, you can choose to write in Pidgin or in English or mix them both and I consider mixing them together the best.

You should start using it to post in the local board then, it most not necessarily be the official language before you start using it. If many people actually start using pidgin or mixed pidgin to post then that might solve the issues.

Me I no sure say en get anybody wey dem born for Nigeria and the person come still grow up for Nigeria wey no fit speak pidgin. You just highlighted a strong point that needs every members of this local board to discuss about because if not for the reason of those Nigerians that are not good when speaking or writing in pidgin language, it could have been a better option for the local board to agree only on pidgin language throughout, so that will can be able to identify who is who in this local board, although i knew I'm not too good with pidgin language but if pidgin language is the only option for the betterment of this our local board, it will not be a bad idea of putting only pidgin language into consideration because Nigeria local board is the only board that can be asses by any investors outside our local board, since the local board only deal with English language and pidgin language.
