For 20 plus years living in Nigeria, I have never heard the word “zero pidgin background” lol. Even children of the elites that never went to public school or grew up in gated communities can understand pidgin. You lot are making it sound as if pidgin is tribal language. It’s like going to Jamaica and saying Patois is not widely understood by the people just because English is the official language of the country.

To speak, understand and write pidgin are three different things entirely and I can boldly tell you that most Pidgin writers on this thread alone are terrible Pidgin writers; everyone can speak but only few can write it clearly without them looking like noise and spam. They wrote pidgin English and forgot about punctuation marks.

If I should write a Pidgin sentence here, you'd understand what I'm explaining better. What we have on the board are good Pidgin speakers but terrible Pidgin writers.

When we had only 1 merits source, same foreigners were the ones helping and sending merits to posts on this board because they could relate well with the English contents and now you want to change the entire board for cheaters ( intruders)? Why not allow the forum to deal with that ?

Maybe wetting we actually need na how to teach these people how to write good pidgin English wey everyone fit read without stressing neck and stoping half way.

Indeed we get some people Wey no dey too comfortable with writing in our beloved pidgin, and that means say we no go fit delete English for our setting but I get suggestion Wey fit help. My suggestion na besay we fit get subboard for English language whereas this main board fit be for pidgin. It's isn't our fault @Inior that we don't have a general or centralized language that only relates to Nigerians that we can speak and others don't understand, unless we have to switch to out individual ancestral mother tongue, which of course we know it isn't possible since Nigeria is a multilingual country. And so, at this point, what do we do? We have no option that to go with our generally accepted language which is English, and that's what we are known for. Even though we keep it strictly to pigin, it can still be uncovered as it is closely related to normal English, except for those who have no idea at all.

Since we are not the only local using English, then this shouldn't be a problem. Every member of the LB should leave free and stay clean from activities that the forum prohibits, and everything will be okay. We can't keep restricting ourselves because we fear bad name in the forum because some sets have decided to live dirty. We have to do better.

When I see many of you in legendary, I do not know how you people get there. I am not talking about everyone but I am talking about people like you. It is just a common sense not to force pidgin on anyone. You are one of the people that I also do not learn from on the local board, all you pidgin category speakers. I can name 5 bests posters on the local board, they are all posting in english and you are not among them. E no dey realistic to allow tribal languages in the lb because e go cause division na why that one no even dey for consideration at all. Our language are diversified
Pidgin and English remains our dominant language
Even pidgin is unofficial.
We can't deny the fact that we still speak pidgin is one of the reasons we have gotten supports from Merit sources outside.

Karl_3000 I would advice you take things easy, nobody is ganging up anywhere to force pidgin on us. The incident that happened recently concerning TokenTikas opened a lot of people's eyes, foreigners are coming to hide in our local board, but that's not the problem.

Yes it will , as far as I know if any new account has been created from Bangladesh it will come to Najia board because of it's popularity and merit transaction. (I've some insider news you can belive ). Since there was no merit source and even mods are discouraged to giving merit on bangla it feels like abandon and they are leaving bangla to najia.

The rest is upon you either you belive it or not lol.

You people are supporting our local board to be open for everybody no problem, if there is any bad consequences that comes up with this, we are going to face it together nobody will be exempted.
Mark my world, a time will come when you guys are going to be agitating for us to use only pidgin in this local board by then it will be too late you guys should continue supporting both English and pidgin in this local board.

So my point here be say: if we no get one official rule concerning the use of pidgin language for this local board, we no go fit know if person for here be Nigerian citizen or not. As for the guy wey create that thread, em dey welcome to talk as well because em no try to blend in as em already use English write and watin em talk na also truth. Anybody wey dey come this local board go dey shame for us because almost every month and year we dey talk about this matter.

If we dey use pidgin as our major language for this local board, we go easily know if the user na real Nigerian or not.

Even though any user wey no be Nigerian citizen try to use AI post with pidgin for the local board we go easily detect am with AI detectors, so that one no be really the issue.

The advice wey I fit give to MOD be say: make we sha try this pidgin of a thing for 1 whole year, then if the thing get head and work well, then we dey like that, but if no way, and e make things worse, then we switch over to the current pattern wey we dey use so. And lastly, if we begin use pidgin and some users dey write rubbish, em also dey welcome to delete or move to off-topic for anything wey no dey readable; at least with that pattern, pipo go learn small small.
