Question on duplicated threads on Gambling Discussion

Could anyone loop me in on the rules for duplicated topics on the Gambling Discussion board?
I'm aware of "one thread per site" rule, but what about multiple threads for discussing a particular league?

I know there are multiple threads e.g. for the Premier League, but I created my own 2 days ago and it's now gone. I assume it got deleted by mods.
Are there any rules on how many threads there can be?

And are we not supposed to get a notification when a topic is deleted? I was sure that's the case, but I got nothing in my inbox.

I saw the post that you are referring to, it was for premier league if I remember correctly. There are many premier league posts already, if more people continue to post about new topics about the same thing, it will be becoming something else. It is good how it has been deleted. We do not need new Premier League posts.

How would you feel if you go to the speculation sub-board of the forum and in the first page you see six topics with thesame title "Bitcoin price thread" and with thesame content. That is the definition of spammy threads, because thesame subjects will be discussed over and over again.

If you are interested in such topic, a reasonable approach will be to engage and post  in an already existing thread instead of repeating thesame subject. Creating a new thread for a saturated active topic is not adding any value in my opinion. Examples; Bitcoin vs Gold, Quantum threats on bitcoin. I think the mods have done their jobs very well by deleting that topic.

Maybe they moved it to the trashcan so you would certainly not get a deletion email/notification

The fact that it was deleted means that multiple threads are not allowed. At least you should have that in mind before creating another.

There is only one way to find out. Report the said threads for deletion or locking by the moderators.

Your thread was deleted. That is how we know that another one is not needed

I think you should be able to get notifications on the bitlist Telegram notification bot.

Those that were not deleted, consider them lucky. I guess some of them just remain in the board because probably they might first pm the moderator about it to know if he will accept.

Moderators are humans, do not expect them to be 100% perfect. Also the rules, it has a reason they make it unofficial.

I suppose the Rule 12 of the unofficial rules of the forum still applies. It’s just subject to interpretation which is rather simple, at least the way I interpret it.

Using the premier league as a case study, we’ve got a couple of EPL discussions  threads running,
One of it is an all season discussion thread, it continues as long as the league still exists and might even when it doesn’t (if ever).
The second is on a per season base, when the comes to a conclusion, it ends and continues the new season in a different thread.
The third one is a poll sponsored thread, where certain gamblers poll funds together with or without sponsorship to contest for prizes on a league of interest. We can also find casinos taking the initiative to either sponsor or host polls of their own.
Fourthly, we have threads that existed as self moderated and were able to moderate people and how the discussions in the thread progressed.

I think these unwritten directives do apply to how and why certain threads exist as duplicate and others are not. I stand to be corrected but, that’s my intuition on the matter.

When threads are deleted, I doubt you get notified. If it were to be a comment, then you get notified but not when the thread itself is deleted.

If you are the OP of the thread and
1. The moderator directly deletes it, you are going to get a notification about the deletion in the PM and via email
2. The moderator moves it to the trashcan, you are not going to get a notification.

If you reply in a thread and
1. The moderator deletes the thread or moves it to the trashcan, you are not going to get a notification.
2. The moderator directly deletes the repy, you are going to get a notification about the deletion in the PM and via email

It was reported as being a duplicate. It doesn't appear to be any different than existing threads or unique enough IMO and would have just led to more spam, especially since it's not self-moderated.

It depends mostly on reports they get and how much they information they can gather on when the thread was created in relation to others. It will help if the report carries some information on that, like link to an earlier thread which is already in use.

It would always seem like an arbitrary decision if you think of it that way. There is no consensus on which thread should be allowed and which shouldn't be, but if yours sticks out as a duplicate, it could be deleted.

Yours will likely have just become as packed in a few weeks, do you create a new thread then?

There’s premier league discussion thread 2025/2026 : Premier League Prediction Thread 2025/2026  and despite it being 2025/2026 season, it’s still active.

Another one which is for the new  seasons 2026/2027: Premier League 2026/2027 Discussion Thread ⚽ , this one seems to be updated to latest season. It initially started as Premier League 2023/2024.

The pages is not half of the one created by Trofo which is 9000+ and the second created by blue Snow is still around 1500+ pages [definitely not even near overflowing ].. making your thread just another duplicate some users are complaining on meta already.

There’s no such thing as overflow btw, maybe you should go check the number of pages on WO thread.. looking for information is pretty same you have to search through pages manually or use the help of forum search ,  search engine and other forum archives loyce.club & bitlist.co

It was reported as being a duplicate. It doesn't appear to be any different than existing threads or unique enough IMO and would have just led to more spam, especially since it's not self-moderated.

I remember discussions on this very topic, and the conclusion was that theoretically several same topics can be allowed if one is self-moderated, which means that another user who does not want to be moderated by the first one opens the same topic. Still, it would be good if there was one topic for each competition, because sometimes I get confused when I see more than one topics for the same competition.

I don't think the spammers mind, because from what I've noticed they're commenting on the same competition in two different threads.

When ever someone's post is being deleted they usually send a PM to inform you that your post has been deleted.
However I think mods don't necessarily PM you  every time they delete your post.
I think Mods likely PM when the deletion is part of a warning or when is a ban related action, when they want to explain a particular rule that your post that was deleted violated and lastly maybe when it's considered not worth sending you a PM or notifying you.

If your post is deleted because it's a spam, or it's off topic mod may not send you a PM.

It's still flexible when moderators look at threads in gambling board and questions about it asked several times.

People with posts in deleted threads won't get any notification about their post deletion if a whole thread deleted but I have not known that even topic creator won't receive any notification when their threads deleted by moderator.

Your example is wrong. They are not duplicate threads.

One is self moderated.
One is both sponsored and self moderated, also for previous season. I don't know how they can get a sponsor for a public thread, that's like advertisement outside signature space, but that's another discussion.
One is open discussion for everybody. You can't force anyone to write to a self-moderated thread so this one was needed.

I don't see a problem with creating a new thread for each season. They'd get messy I think and the old ones die off pretty quickly.  People are free to create a self-modded thread if they wish also which is one of the examples you've given.

This has been discussed before, even in meta
- Moderated topics don't fall under the duplicate rule
- Topics with a pool game are also excluded
- Old topics that are currently running on a single series are left alone

So in short as long as you don't duplicate a league topic by opening an unmoderated one at the same time, yours will stay up.

Trofo created this Premier League Prediction Thread 2025/2027 in August 2020 which happens to be the starting period of 2020/21 campaign and from what I noticed in my a-little-over 3 years in the forum, he updates it at start of every season to change the season's year just like he did earlier today. It's the busiest league thread in the gambling discussion board.

blue Snow on the other hand created this Premier League 2026/2027 Discussion Thread ⚽ in June 2023 which was two months before the start of 2023/24 campaign and also edits it at the beginning of every season to add the season's year.

Both threads are in their thousands pages and are open for everyone to make any EPL related post in the gambling discussion board. Creating another EPL thread I think will be a way of unnecessarily spamming the board, that's why I think it makes sense for moderators to remove such thread to avoid spamming even when there are rules that backs such move or not.

This case is different on the regular deleted post. You will not received a notification message about post deleted when the whole thread was deleted by the mods.

My 2 cents and I could be wrong  

• Most of threads in Gambling discussions board are pointless and it's not strange to see they get deletion from moderators.
• I am not writing this to guide people who to generate threads for discussions about a same league, a same season, but let's see how you can make threads differently at the very core purposes of threads.
  
  • One thread about the Premier League season: it is for spamming discussions about everything in the league season.
  • Another thread is sponsored one about that league, that same season.
  • Another thread about referee issues for example.
  • Another thread about structural changes about the league, if anything like this is ongoing.

Only for example on how different threads can have different purposes/ objectives, and it's not my guide for pointless spamming in gambling discussion board.  

It's basic principle in narrowing down objectives in scientific research, topic title, topic objective.

I'm the one who reported your EPL thread to the moderators, and yes they deleted it and marked my report as a good report. Look at the screenshot.

My report was simple. This was my report comment: We already have so many EPL discussion threads. I don't think we need another one. lol

I don't know why you created that thread in the first place, given that you're very active on gambling discussion board. I'm pretty sure you've already seen 4-5 other threads about the EPL.
It gives the impression that you created that thread for what purpose; So that thread could also get a sponsor too?

The rules are clear and loud; everyone knows about those rules, especially old members of the forum. So you should know the abbreviations of the duplicate thread. You just can’t create a thread that has been created unless your thread is unique.

When the whole thread gets deleted, usually we don’t receive any notification. Because including replies, it’s been getting deleted, so everyone should receive the notification, and probably it’s quite complicated. A thread would have even thousands of replies; all of them should receive notifications upon deletion. But yes, it’s possible to implement.

The example I had in mind were these two:

One of them has over 1500 pages, the other is approaching 10,000 pages. They are 3 and 6 years old, so there's no way they have been missed by mods for all that time.
And no, I don't want any of them deleted. If anything, I would welcome at least one more to cater to people who want a bit less hectic place for discussion.

But again, this topic is about having clear and consistent rules, not about whether another EPL thread is needed.
