Let's ask ourselves this simple question first before we continue with the discussion. Right now, the question is: what does the government do with those money? Because if they are not investing those money in the country, like creating job opportunities, or at least increasing the minimum wage, things will keep affecting its citizens.

What I'm trying to say here is that no matter how the finance of the government increases, its citizens will not be beneficiaries unless the government invest those money in the country.

Imagine a country where there are no jobs, the minimum wage is low, the government is also not making improvements in anything, and there's also a subsidy removal; people will suffer because the government is not doing anything with the money they saved; rather, they are taking more loans from other countries, and still they are not doing any meaningful things with that money.
The Nigeria government is found of doing all these, i have also asked my self this same question you just ask about what government is doing all these money including the ones they are taking as loan, they keep borrowing trillions of money with out people seeing what the money is been used for, if those money are been invested in the country the impact will be shown but rather they borrow this loans and embezzled it all.
With the high loan that is been borrowed all the time the country economy is still bad no better infrastructure and development and also no job opportunities for those that are qualified to work.

In my country the government has made subsidy removal on petrol, electricity and a other things I can't remember right now. Some economic reforms has being made and implemented for three years still going, and the government claims that this decisions has helped improved the country's economy by making the government save billions that were spent on subsidy and the currency gaining strength. On their part the economy has improved and better than how they met it.

But from basic economic indicators can we say a government economic reforms is actually successful because it has increased the government net income. Meanwhile households living standard isn't affected in any positive ways. The quality of living standards for the citizens has rather reduced, price of products (unstable) skyrocketing on a daily.
An example, in this 3 years a product that was sold for $1 is now sold for $4 with citizens struggling to afford what was once common products for every home, yet the government by their balance of higher net income into the federation account claims the economy is now better than how they met it, coming into political power. Is the government just being insensitive? If it were in your country what would be your opinion on this even with the figures the government are showing to have gained for the country.
No doubt that you're talking about the Nigerian government who sings their own praise that the economy is improving yet the reality on ground shows that it is deteriorating, what is more deverstating is that the same incompetent president wants to continue ruling the country for a second term. I wonder what difference that he plans to make in another four years when his three years plus in office has not yielded anything positive in the bad economy, I wouldn't be surprised if he wins again because many of us believes that the election that brought him into power was rigged. The country is blessed with good people and natural resources but the rate of corruption is so massive that it is affecting developments in the country, these criminals loot without any conscience which is killing the country, if corruption is killed the economy will reawaken. Nigeria, and many African countries are ruled by incompetent leaders and that is why the continent is backward, I guess that it pleases the industrialized nations so that Africa will continue to be a dumping ground for their excess leftover products.

Most of the things you hear government claimed are not really an achievement they made, but instead, they will use the social media to influence the public so that they could believe on whatever they presented to them, while those within the circle will definitely know that some things are wrong about what is being published by our leaders.

I do encourage that we don't need to always depend on government for everything, this is also where our success must not be tied to government plans, you must leave an independent love that will help us achieve some of our personal goals in life, later will you discover that what you even believe about government are not so in reality.
Now it's become a trend to show off progress as an achievement from the government side. Is it acceptable to the public? I think on social media a small portion of progress can be shared, but the actual work remains unsolved. A lot of people have curiosity about what the government is doing and where its projects work. Mostly, leaders show us an entirely different picture from reality, so all the progress of the government shown through social media is not trustworthy.

Many people set their goals according to the government's plans, but in my opinion, they are doing wrong because sometimes the government gives the best opportunities which are exactly which with their goals, but it's rare. So people should focus on learning modern skills to keep themselves updated. Are you thinking about setting goals according to the government?

There are many indicators the government must examine to determine whether its economic reforms have succeeded. It seems your government is targeting only a partial recovery specifically regarding the fiscal position. However, you should consider whether they are truly removing subsidies while maintaining a focus on public welfare such as through subsidy reallocation or infrastructure development, or if the sole aim is simply to boost fiscal revenue.

This our current government are very wicked that they don't really care whether the ordinary citizens can actually afford three square meal.  They are more concerned about protecting their image rather than fixing the actual problem that Nigerians are facing.

Just imagine when a person comes online to complain about a particular issues we are facing,  instead of the government to focus on how they can fix the issue, they will rather put their attention on that person that start the complaint by arresting the person or they'll dismiss the criticism.  Meanwhile the average person is just trying to survive, paying bills and putting food on the table. People can barely save anything because of how tough our economy has become.

It's good to question the government expenditure but let's be realistic, no government in any part of the world is going to tell you about her expenditure. You can see break down of summary from some basic flow of money but the government will not share everything with you because that's how government operate. What we should be asking is what are they doing with the money, we should be able to point to the projects the government is doing for the people.

We also have this habit of pointing fingers to one person when it comes to government responsibility. Who say the government is only the president, it stem down to everyone person political person that is holding power in the country. Please check the monthly FAAC allocation of each state, that money has tripled for many states, the least  local government received nothing less than ₦300M, the money are sent every month but where is what they do with the money? Stop pointing fingers to one person.

Thats one of the biggest problem of that initiative and other reform they say they make for the public benefit, they stop subsidy and yet they don't use the massive generation of revenue to make sustainable development and that's a big problem and after this reforms leave people is frustrated and yet the government seems to borrow money from shady deals financial institutions

Some economic reforms has being made and implemented for three years still going, and the government claims that this decisions has helped improved the country's economy by making the government save billions that were spent on subsidy and the currency gaining strength. On their part the economy has improved and better than how they met it.
Since that money hasn't been going to subsidy anymore, where are those billions going to? How is the money being spent or invested by the government?
We had a situation where the government decided that they are not going to hire a janitor for the schools anymore, and I do not mean private schools; they weren't doing that anyway. We are talking about actual public schools that are supposed to be free for poor people's kids. They said that between the janitor cost, their salary, and then the cleaning supplies- like soap and toilet paper and whatever else- like cleaning a school all over the nation, would cost a lot, and they need to stop.

So the parents would have to get together, and pay for it, first of all these parents are mostly poor people, they couldn't afford any where decent hence why the kids are at public schools, secondly we are talking about a situation where they are not even using that money for anything else, they are just corrupt, I am sure another politician got rich off this, in fact I was shocked to learn they would cancel it, normally these corrupt people would just steal from you, and then give it to a person who they are very close, and for a 1 dollar job, they would charge 3 dollars, and pocket the difference. Hence, you can be assured that, everywhere in every country of the world, if there are cuts, those are not going anywhere; it is going into some politicians' pockets.

You dont know, maybe you don't but your money is used to give their families good life abroad and the rest spent on buying assets in foreign lands and also used to sponsor their election campaigns, don't you see how much they waste in renovating the presidential/vice presidential villa those people are evil.

As for the loans, they're stacking debt for the future generations cause I don't know how a government that's clueless of how to run a nation would clear those debts, removing the subsidy is not bad but when it's done by a clueless government then it becomes a foolish act, too bad innocent citizens are the ones who would suffer.

The moment you become a politician, I mean in an elected office, the truth becomes almost far from them and there is no need taking them serious because we already know that, they are very selfish and very self centered set of people you can imagine and there is no need expecting anything good from them and it seems the politicians from my country are the devil incarnates we have always been hearing about and it's always discouraging especially how obviously it has become that they have no single good intention for the youths except they have something they intend to gain from the course.

It is right to say that the government claims especially having to do with capacity building amongst youth is zero as they want the youths to stay loyal to them and one way to do it is through poverty and there is a popular saying that, who feeds you, controls you and hunger has always been the tool

It's not that had for corrupt politicians to divert funds by formulating some intensive capital projects and also through budget padding just to justify how those funds are being spent since they ain't anymore in use for subsidy. Some times even the amount needed to carry out a project is being inflated which is very had to trace how transparent that could be because every paperwork that could have gotten them hooked are all well structured to match with what they claim to have spent.

I think there is a big difference between improving the government's finances and improving the economy for the citizens of a country. By removing subsidies from the citizens of a country definitely give benefit to the treasury of the government but if the people salaries and wages are still the same then how could they manage the purchasing power how could they pay there bills if the wages are still low while the expenses are high as the government remove subsidies from the citizen. If the government has money but the citizens still struggle for paying bills or other necessary things it's a shame for a government because in the end nations are made by their people.

They are only stealing public funds and when they need more to steal, they go ahead and keep borrowing. Most Third-world countries would be much better off if their leaders stop stealing public funds. Any government committed to stealing rarely achieves anything. Stealing public funds is like a plaque that is passed down across tenures. That is why you see that the president of Nigeria proclaimed boldly that "it is his turn"... turn to do what? "Embezzle public funds" of course

Nigeria has not been a good country since a long time ago, it is only getting worse every time. The recent government just like everyway to tax their citizens and inflation did not stop.

Am not surprised by what is happening in my beloved country Nigeria because in a country where they value tribalism more than competency, nothing is impossible. You will see a governor or even a citizens come and be saying openly that they will be voting for Mr A, just because he or she is my brother, without even looking at the person if he is even good enough for the job.

And the worst of all is during election, where a seating governor or president will perform so badly, and he will start paying people to vote for him, and the useless set of people will still vote for such persons after being paid a small amount of money as if that money they took can feed them in the next four years, or if it can cover up for ransom if they are kidnapped by bandit.

Since bola tinubu came into power, he has been running the government without a budget, and he is also using the opportunity to go around the world and be borrow a lot of money, because he believes that he may have died in thirty to fifty years time from now, so he wouldn't be the one paying back money, that is enough reason for him to be impeach and arrested, but it's bad that in Nigeria, corrupt politicians don't go to prison like in most developed nations, that's why they are emboldened.

When politicians say "the economy is improving" they mean their economy. They didn't magically "save" billions by removing subsidies. They just took those billions directly out of your pockets at the gas pump and the grocery store.

This is why printing money is criminal. Printing money does not print goods. It simply distributes these goods. If I magically grant myself a billion dollars, there's just greater piece of goods for me and less for you.

If they have realised such amount in fuel subsidy removal why do they then borrow money from China? As a matter of fact the Nigerian government Debt rate has gotten to about 3 Trillion Naira. If I am may asked, where are they spending all these money and what projects have been able to accomplish with the said borrowed money? Ok, let keep that aside, in the history of Nigerian government and presidency’s, the current administration has been the highest government being indebted to other countries due to the high rate of loan they have took and sometimes I still keep asking where is the change they are solely talking about and what have they done so far in the history of Nigeria?

The Nigeria government is found of doing all these, i have also asked my self this same question you just ask about what government is doing all these money including the ones they are taking as loan, they keep borrowing trillions of money with out people seeing what the money is been used for, if those money are been invested in the country the impact will be shown but rather they borrow this loans and embezzled it all.
With the high loan that is been borrowed all the time the country economy is still bad no better infrastructure and development and also no job opportunities for those that are qualified to work.
Even if this incumbent Government is removed from office, the new leader will continue the embezzlement legacy of their predecessor. It's not a new thing anymore in Nigeria, every president/governor/minister who has been on seat has stole public funds.  I even wonder if there will be any positive changes in this country in the coming years. We  alot of resources (both mineral and human labour) that if utilised properly, it Nigeria can become a first world county. This isn't only occuring in Nigeria, almost 80-90% of other countries are experiencing this kind of bad leader's. They borrow huge amount of money, squandered IGR and public funds, then use the money to build business in abroad.

You know one thing about this stealing public funds of a thing, I believe every president/Governor/minister steals public funds almost everywhere in the world, but the difference is that some have conscience than others. Some of the said leaders steal and still work in their citizen's interest to make life better for them, while others claim everything for themselves, stall the economy and put citizens in more difficult situation by borrowing and making the citizens pay for the funds they borrowed and stole by increasing taxation on goods and services, thereby driving the prices high and driving inflation higher.

The likes of Obasanjo, Yar'adua and Johnathan all stole funds, but they worked and improved the country. Life was easier when they were ruling and people didn't mind their dirties, but after them the ones that had come are very selfish, taking everything for themselves and their cartels and are strangling the country and her citizens.
