To me it is actually not surprising, because anything you bet your money on or even valuable item with a very uncertain outcome, with hopes of luck on winning more money, is considered as gambling. We can literally gamble on anything at all asides just casinos and sport.
People also place bet on horse racing, reality tv shows, boxing, wrestling, talents shows etc
What is most important regardless of what you’re betting on, gamble with what you can afford to loose, it gets so crazy when people feel so confident and certain of outcome of most of this games and instead of gambling with what they can afford to loose, they choose to gamble with more.

But I have come to realise that people actually gamble on a lot that I can bet I and most of us here don't know about

You can check this old thread, there are some good comments... positive & negative ones. It's good to pay attention, some people raised valid concerns about the fairness of this game.

I played it a few times, and I understand the "interesting part"... We can watch roads & intersections across the world and count cars passing the box or line. Maybe that's better than playing Plinko and watching those balls falling... that's why we have so many games, for every taste. People gamble on anything at all they don’t always try to consider the risk in it, if the outcome will double their money or more then there are willing to risk it.  These are even the ones we see on the internet, we don’t even talk about the local gambles that go on among ourselves in our communities. The amount of things people do for quick money is ridiculous and sometimes it sound insane to me.

Gambling outside sports and going into gambling on random things are crazy and can be very risky but gamblers doesn’t see that they see more opportunities for them to make money. They gamble on random things base on their little knowledge and experience like gambling on animals, on fights among others, or lifting of heavy weights. All this are just random things which can be dangerous sometimes especially the heavy weight lifting but they are still ready to take the risk.

yeah, i knew that. There are few things like this where gambling can be implemented, gambling as an act of challenges among friends are more fun than you watching others do it, the difference is you are also in the game as well, it's way fun this way.

I enjoy the local ludo games because I don't do it with AI but with friends, I love challenges way more than anything, so I am not surprised that people are making money this way.

At least for me, this is the first time I am hearing something like this. Do people actually bet on such things ?
In casino games, we can easily verify if the game is provably fair or not but how you verify this ?
Can't it be easily manipulated if the location is not something you don't know ?
I would rather bet on sport matches or even dice than to bet on such things.

Anything that get to do with staking of money for something has no other name but gamble. What's cool about this is that there is no form of partiality, everything will be very fair since nobody can actually determine anything that will happen next. But again, if this will be done manually I pretty hope there will be no dispute or any form of confusion between them. Because I have seen a senero where groups of friends bet on something random just like this and reaching the time when the winner wants to collect is wins it became a very big problem that resulted fight between both parties. I guess not in this case.

Gamble has become really crazy due to the kind of betting options that are available in the prediction market. There was i time I saw a thread concerning people betting on war, if certain soldiers will return or not. I found it disgusting that people could go to that length to bet on the lives of people who have decided to sacrifice themselves for their nation.
Personally I think, betting on options like this doesn't make it easy for anyone to win, though psychologically you may think it's an easy option to pick from but it's not and I think gambling is all about the psychological game.

Actually, there are many kinds of gambling, especially offline, and anything can become gambling as long as we bet money on it. It's just that sometimes, gambling like that used to be only offline, but now we can gamble online. Just like the gambling you described above.

Back in my area, people often gambled on the street just by guessing the last numbers of vehicle license plates (especially buses) that passed by. So we could choose the last 2 numbers, and if the vehicle passing had a plate number that matched our choice, we would win. Usually, this game could involve 2 or more people. So basically, there really are a lot of types of gambling, it's just that the ones available online are limited because online games are usually the ones that are already popular or have a lot of players.

People can gambling using many things, that happens from the past. So that will not surprises if you see videos in social media showing people are gamble with different forms. I often see gambling by predicting something like how many cars, what next will happens or many others. The point is people will find something interest and start gamble with their friends. Most of them use this for fun and fills their free time and no hard feeling if they lose because they only want to spend their time.

You're making it seem like it's the craziest thing you've ever seen. 
People bet on real-world events too. What do you think people bet on in prediction markets? People bet on who a president will pardon and monthly inflation rates. People even bet on how many tweets Elon Musk will make. They bet on award shows and more. So yeah, gambling is on a different level.
The difference is that prediction markets exploit a loophole and claim that they are not gambling, but gambling is mainly what people do on their website.

But again, if this will be done manually I pretty hope there will be no dispute or any form of confusion between them.

Cameras have recordings. If there is a dispute, they can go back and watch the video and count how many cars passed the intersection. There is no big deal there.

Many of you that are saying the game is new to you probably have not visited the prediction market like the Polymarket or Kalshi before. If you visit prediction market, you will see these kinds of bets there.

The craziest part is that you will also see bets that are related to war and other bad events on prediction markets.
