What I’m thinking is, could this kind of political connection somehow affect how strict regulation will be in the future? Prediction market is still in a state of regulatory uncertainty. We have already discussed a lot about insider betting & state level restriction. At such time, showing Trump Jr's direct financial interest seems like conflict of interest to me. If someone in future advocate for relaxing these regulation or if someone give any policy advantage then we can easily reconcile this connection.

It does, I mean, that's what lobbying is for. A lot of company look for political connection to have policies that are favorable to them. I’m not saying there is already something wrong happening, but the timing and the amount of money involved make this worth watching closely.
And I'm gonna say that there is already something wrong or fishy happening. I mean, Trump jr. is connected to Kalshi, and now he is trying to connect himself to Polymarket after his Dad's metting with Polymarket CEO, I wouldn't call that coincidence.

Regulatory uncertainty or not, the fact is clear as crystal that the predictions market is fighting for its own regulations that makes it distinct from regulations guiding normal gambling businesses. With this committed amount by the Trump family, am sure it is a clear signal to all that the predictions market is here to stay and remain in business, while insider trading and information remains the key ingredient that is necessary for price discovery that reflects true probability.

Polymarket is really growing. In the past few days I have read some topics here about prediction markets being abused through insider information, and now this news came out that 1789 Capital, where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner, reportedly invested another $300 million in Polymarket. What I’m thinking is, could this kind of political connection somehow affect how strict regulation will be in the future? Imagine this much money going into prediction markets while the industry is still facing regulatory problems and questions about insider betting. And considering that the son of the U.S. president is connected to one of the investors, it naturally raises some questions for me. I’m not saying there is already something wrong happening, but the timing and the amount of money involved make this worth watching closely. One of the best lessons I have learned in my time gambling and having conversations with other people who gamble both in this forum and outside the forum is that you make more money as the operator or owner than the player. So no matter of jackpot you win, the operator wins more. If I am ever given the option to win a jackpot of one million dollars or start a gambling business, I will choose the later. So much money to be made and the Op is evidence.

I believe there is an obvious conflict of interest when comes to the family of the president of the United States getting involved with such huge investments in prediction market providers... If anything, this is likely a proof Trump administration will continue to keep a lax regulation (or lack of regulation) in order for him and his family to continue to get millions of dollars from this market.
It makes me wonder whether a future democrat administration will make things different and tightly regulate prediction markets, cracking down on inside trading and people getting involved in conflict of interests.

Same here. It seems the conflict of interest is all too obvious. But what can regulators do when it's the president's family itself that's involved? Anyway, this is a great boost to Polymarket's confidence. They could use this as a leverage to somehow turn out victorious in the multiple federal and state-level investigations and lawsuits they're currently facing. The entry of the Trump family in the business is Polymarket's light at the end of the tunnel. Somehow, it effectively erases the uncertainties that it's facing.

Seems its the same how does part of the government official abuse their power and knowledge of the possible happenings in the politics. Kalshi has permanently blocked a user for the first time We cannot limit the polymarket itself unless the government are the one who make a restriction with these platforms to operate into their country and if ever is they mandate to have a license to operate but for me id recommend here that the politicians are out of this matters because its an event happenings in their country and we know that most of them planned already and just waiting for the announce in the public like what we are waiting for the result of the prediction.

Based on what's said, 1789 capital looking to fund every controversial projects. I guess that's one of their strategies when controversies are into a project, that can be converted into attention and ends up with money.
At first reading, I thought that Trump has a position there like head, coo or etc. But it seems that he's the financier of the company and looks to gather more investments through connections.
I guess soon we might see some other ways to invest in Polymarket like being a stock traded company because of this connection and political capital.

All this leverage Polymarket could take advantage of, unfortunately to them, has an expiration date. The day Trump is removed from the presidency and a democrat government is moved in to replace him. After a democrat administration is in, then the power balance of Trump family will be broken and they will have to use their money the best way they can in order to face a Democrat government, which would be very difficult. That is why this incoming midterm elections are so important, they serve as a thermometer in order to see who bad Trump and Republicans are doing in the eyes of the common people of the United States.

For me, it does not look fair. Soft rules now may help them keep earning from these sites. Seems government from the other party may make the rules much tighter. They are just taking advantage of their position now, while also shaping the rules does not look clean.

In the past few days I have read some topics here about prediction markets being abused through insider information, and now this news came out that 1789 Capital, where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner, reportedly invested another $300 million in Polymarket. And considering that the son of the U.S. president is connected to one of the investors, it naturally raises some questions for me. I’m not saying there is already something wrong happening, but the timing and the amount of money involved make this worth watching closely. If you are going to see things this way, then why limit your thoughts to prediction markets and the Trump family? You could look at any kind of investment that they have made and claim that this is going to be political interference and lead to lessening of regulations only because of their involvement. I do not like this kind of thinking because of two reasons. First you are trying to limit or restrict business activities of people that have the right to make investments in a thriving business landscape. Second you are focused on the Trump family and there are many other political players now and in the past that have been doing the same, that does not seem right. If you want to look at things this way then you need to look at everyone and criticize them too. If we looked for more examples I am sure that we would find it. Another issue what people are going to do is make false judgements that are not based on evidence. Now that this investment has passed, people will try to think or believe that if the outcome of the big court case regarding prediction markets ends up being favorable that this was influence which is wrong. This kind of judgemental thinking leads to false conclusions and very narrow thinking. It is wrong only if the ruling comes because of the investment, and not if it ends up being good for polymarket overall. If they win on their merits then there is nothing wrong. The Trump family does not have that much influence on the supreme court, they often rule against what he wants.

If the punishment is small compared to the profit, then it may not be enough to discourage future violations.
The ones who will really suffer here are the honest bettors, because what they are doing is actual prediction. They study the market, analyze the event and take the risk without knowing the outcome. But those who already have inside information are not really playing the same game anymore. They already have an unfair advantage. So while ordinary bettors keep putting in their hard-earned money, insiders can keep taking advantage of the system. That is what makes it so frustrating.

What I’m thinking is, could this kind of political connection somehow affect how strict regulation will be in the future?
It can be used to easily know what will happen. All what those United States' states are doing is only what will waste their time. If a company that Donald Trump Jr. is a partner of is investing on polymarket like that, people should know that such site will be legal in United States and it will be difficult to go against them successfully when Trump is still in power. I believe Trump sons have influence and have connections with the regulators at the federal level. That really going to happen. I mean a legalization with thorough (don't me tough) regulation ship simply because, political officials with great influence has stepped up to the poly market. Donald Trump being the United States president will either not want to see his loving son get involved in any form that would demote his political carrier if he is found guilty of any legal violations of which we have been hearing about the incidents in the poly market where individuals in their official positions are being charged of cheating over insider bets. So we can be hopeful on regulations changes as a means to favour certain party. Donald Trump has also one man that does what should favour his supporters. Talk more of his son.

To my mind, it means that Polymarket and prediction markets in general will get a favorable federal regulatory framework. Trump's administration tries to make federally regulated prediction market kept under its jurisdiction and even sued states to stop them from applying state gambling laws. The good thing is that states are fighting back and courts don't just agree with the Trump Honestly, what this man does is just too much. He acts like a dictator and wants to shape everything according to his imagination. He is a businessman and I wasn't expecting anything less from him but this is really just too much. It's sad that the USA didn't have better options than Kamala and Trump.

It seems that such an investment doesn't seem logical if coupled with potential increased regulation. After all, there's a regulated prediction market - Kalshi. If Polymarket were also made regulated, it would literally be like squeezing two companies into a single market. In my opinion, it's more logical to leave things as they are: Kalshi dominates the regulated market, and Polymarket the unregulated one. In any case, if the Trumps have anything to do with investing, it's bad news, everything they touch turns into scammy, toxic crap.

It seems the betting market has expanded in every direction, even into politics, and it appears to be a business with indefinite longevity. I think it is only natural for significant investment capital to flow into the prediction market industry, given how lucrative the business is for any party involved, whether directly or indirectly. To me, this is akin to sports sponsorship, where funds are invested in ventures that yield profitable returns. Consequently, I believe such investments are likely viewed as highly advantageous by certain entities, including the most influential figures within global governments.

I guess he would not invest that much if he saw the regulatory risk as too high. With such a huge investment, he is probably confident that whatever regulation comes, Polymarket will still survive. Politics still plays a big role in business, especially at this level. And with the reach of Polymarket, the potential ROI could be very attractive. Based on the reported figures, Polymarket is already making around $163 million per year in revenue, and that could still grow as prediction markets become more popular. https://defillama.com/protocol/polymarket?groupBy=daily&tvl=false&usdInflows=true

Polymarket is really growing. In the past few days I have read some topics here about prediction markets being abused through insider information, and now this news came out that 1789 Capital, where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner, reportedly invested another $300 million in Polymarket. What I’m thinking is, could this kind of political connection somehow affect how strict regulation will be in the future?... There really is a reason to talk about a potential conflict of interest here, although the investment itself, of course, doesn’t prove that anything illegal is happening. Especially since we’re no longer talking about a small investment: according to the latest reports, 1789 Capital is investing around $300 million as part of Polymarket’s new $1 billion funding round, after the fund had already invested around $200 million earlier. So this definitely raises some questions. Especially considering that Trump Jr. is not only a partner at one of Polymarket’s investors, but also sits on the platform’s advisory board. But there’s another side to this as well. The bigger Polymarket becomes and the more institutional money flows into it, the harder it will be to simply ignore issues like insider trading and market manipulation. Polymarket is already strengthening its monitoring systems and says it has provided law enforcement with information on more than a hundred suspicious cases.

It seems that such an investment doesn't seem logical if coupled with potential increased regulation. After all, there's a regulated prediction market - Kalshi. I think the Trumps simply like things that have a somewhat scandalous and provocative image, so I’m not surprised at all that Polymarket caught their attention. After all, you can place bets there on events and situations that can literally make your hair stand on end. I think the Trumps and Polymarket make a very good match, they suit each other perfectly.

I normally don't do polymarket and if I was, this would be a goodbye because of Trump Jr involvement, that is corruption at its peak because no one is going to hold any Trump family accountable.
Who is going to block who now? If Trump family is farming polymarket because they are this into Polymarket like this who is going to stop them? Nobody
Prediction market will forever more be this sucks because it will depend on who is on power and where the prediction market is located, I am never going anywhere near prediction markets, never.
