What I’m thinking is, could this kind of political connection somehow affect how strict regulation will be in the future?

Indeed, it might if there were no laws prohibiting the political leader and any members of their family from engaging in gambling or investing in it. This is because there is no assurance that the political leader's information would not influence any of their family members' decisions, and there's no assurance that it's the political that create or the investment using the family members private

Imagine this much money going into prediction markets while the industry is still facing regulatory problems and questions about insider betting. And considering that the son of the U.S. president is connected to one of the investors, it naturally raises some questions for me.

I’m not saying there is already something wrong happening, but the timing and the amount of money involved make this worth watching closely.

Many people are keeping a close eye on the prediction market because of political involvement, and how the majority of the platforms in the industry are already experiencing problems because of the use of events that could result in someone's death or manipulation of an event.

From what I've observed about Trump and his family, I can say for a fact that they know what they're doing. They won't just shell out $300mif they don't know they'd be getting something heavy in return. Given the fact that they have indulged in all kinds of shady business since he got into power. It's safe to say this is another opportunity for them to max extract before the elections.

Last time I checked, Trump and his family have been involved in pretty much all kind of businesses. Melania has her own brand of luxurious items, like dresses and accessories. Trump also was involved with gambling and casinos in the past, he even had his own brand of Vodka and bottled water.

Keeping in mind how much of a money chaser he is, it makes complete sense he decided to get into the business of Cryptocurrencies and stablecoins, (even having his own meme coin), even though he mentioned in the past how much of a scam Bitcoin was.

He does not have actual principles, he just follows the money.

Well, Trump Jr. is a partner in 1789 Capital, and he is a member of the Polymarket Advisory Board... So he is going for some huge profits. It's all about the money & making even more money. Is it a safe bet? When your dad is the president, I guess you know where to put your eggs...

With all these bans, why are they not doing anything about it ?
It's very uncommon for an organization who's truly ready for business and intends to stay longer would possibly be seeking ways to clear their names because most of these counties listed to have banned polymarket still allows gambling in their country, so banning polymarket wouldn't be counted as just a coincidence as something sure would have prompted it or don't you think so ? Or don't you think the company need to be bothered with these bans ?

He is a businessman who gains power. So it's not surprising that what he does is always chasing profit. We will try to see if there will be other dramas emerging from Polymarket after this. Or other dramas like the red card intervention that meant nothing in the World Cup. When politics and money are at play, the game itself is no longer enjoyable.

Well. I am not sure whether prediction markets are hiding much from the public or not. I am just sure it is quite a shady ecosystem, because the way they try to circumvent laws on gambling in several jurisdictions, and also because of the fact there seems to be a lot of inside trading going on...

There is still an overall increase of public suspicion of prediction exchange due to the efforts to take advantage of the legal loopholes so that the exchange would not be considered as legal gambling. Such insider forms of transaction undercut the level of fairness of the market which is supposed to be functioning in a transparent and objective way. The susceptibility of online transaction programs adds to the suspicions of the vested interests of platform operators worldwide.

Wealthy political families are using the digital asset industry as a new source of revenues in the uncertainty of new financial laws. The pressure on the government to de-escalate the dealings in an illicit business brings a great challenge to the police in this superpower. Court testament is the only effective tool of crippling the status of political houses among citizens.

That even is nothing special, such actions happen frequently you just don't see them so often so you ignore it and when the media bring to light Trump each time they managed to make you emotional. Influence is not corruption on its own, people do this all the time in their work environment and in their private lives that is why this kind of case touches so close to them and they get upset.

I don't understand why so many users here are against prediction markets and you use the most normal of arguments. Was this not the same case for cryptocurrency exchanges? For the longest amount of time possible they tried to avoid having to deal with regulations, change jurisdictions all the time and such things. And that is just an example that is close to us, the same was happening with AI and any other innovative and emerging products. Every large company that is chasing profit is trying to chase around regulations all the time.

There is no proof of any kind of insider trading related to Trump directly, so this will not happen. We have seen cases of individual staff members and other people that are a bit more distanced, but I have not seen any kind of proof that Trump is involved in any way. They made so much money in recent years, why would they risk it all with some insider trading? That would not be so smart..

Polymarket is really growing. In the past few days I have read some topics here about prediction markets being abused through insider information, and now this news came out that 1789 Capital, where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner, reportedly invested another $300 million in Polymarket.
