For people who are in their infancy stage navigating crypto, I don't think you'd say that firsthand. They will probably wouldn't grasp yet bitcoin but you already introduced them on altcoins, I don't think they'll understand. Well, I guess you have your reason/s for this response. By the way, altcoins has limited supplies too for most, I rarely see some of them that goes unlimited, just for the context.

To answer OP, there are lot of resources you can find these days if someone really need to understand bitcoin better and probably this forum is the right path as I've also started here but with internet, the potential to learning are endless, plus AI is great tool. People decide to invest in bitcoin has different factors with different perspective in minds, they either want to test the underlying technology, the speculative game of buying low it then selling at highs (which I think most has on their minds investing in it), some decide because it's a store of value, etc.

You are right and nobody wants to be losing their investments at all time jumping from one altcoin to another in name of trying to look for quick profits from their investments. If people really understand the market you would see that they could find it that difficult for them to losing their hand earned money into shitcoin that some people calls altcoin.
For crying loud,  Bitcoin is way far better than altcoin and volatility is actually very low compared with altcoin.

People don’t invest in bitcoin over a single reason alone, there are other reasons why people choose to invest in bitcoin instead of some altcoins. Bitcoin is a decentralized currency and this decentralization alone is another reason to choose bitcoin and there are some little reasons too, but the most obvious reasons why people choose bitcoin other than the other altcoins is what you said about the constant updates of it all time highs (ATH) because at this point when bitcoin grows and update it all time highs holders get to see their holdings increases and they made so much from it so the benefits of bitcoin attracts people to it.
And altcoins don’t have that energy to keep up with constant updates of their all time highs but some of the altcoins are trying their best.

But yeah, you got it right. Basic knowledge and understanding is the most important thing for newbies. Do not rush after profit or Fomo when you don't even really understand what you're investing in yet.

Keep in mind, starting early or getting a cheap entry is a advantage, but thats not what decides your profit. Profit gonna depend much more on your knowledge, how you manage your capital and the decisions you make while investing.

It's difficult to separate profits entirely from the reasons why people invest in bitcoin but it's pretty nice to say that when a person understands bitcoin, he invests for the sake of preserving the value of his money.

Right now I will say higher percentage of people investing in bitcoin are doing it because of money, maybe later in the future people’s mentality is going to change, but right now people just want to make profits. People that claim they are not investing in bitcoin because of profits are just deceiving themselves, the only people I can say they not investing because of profits are people making transactions with their bitcoin. If bitcoin price remains stable, lots of people are going to sold off their bitcoin. Just few people are even the ones making transactions with bitcoin, which is the primary purpose of bitcoin, others are just holding for profits sake.

It's importance in tech wise is not yet visible to all, because not everyone who invest in Bitcoin is tech savvy, and may become bored when technical terminologies are being used too often. The total number of crypto users by percentage is around 24% who are in the technical sector of the industry, while the remaining 76% are on the trading, holding and staking sectors, where technicalities are not filtered.

The importance of Bitcoin Those who once understand the true meaning will never risk their hard-earned money on other shitcoins. Can those who repeatedly move around in altcoins in order to make quick profits ever make significant profits? I don't think so, rather they end up losing more. Those who invest in Bitcoin after getting tired of alts have already lost significant money due to wrong decision of investing in alts. Just a small research is enough for a wise man to keep his focus on Bitcoin for long term. Apart from top 10 alts listed on CMC, I don't think rest of alts are good choice for any sort of investment. The sooner you know about reality of alts, better it will be to secure your money. No coin in crypto market is capable of giving you return that is even close to Bitcoin.
