I’m still a beginner in Bitcoin and trying to understand how people make their decisions
How do you decide when it’s the right time to buy, hold, or sell Bitcoin? Do you mainly look at the price and charts, or are there other things you consider before making a decision?

As a beginner, what you first need is knowledge about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. When you have that knowledge, you will find all these kinds of questions easy to answer. I don't think all these kinds of questions are really necessary to be asked because, even when the answers are given to you, you may not likely understand them better. So, my advice to you is to go and seek to learn about Bitcoin

But anyway, let me explain some things. The right time to buy Bitcoin is during a bear market period, when the price of Bitcoin is down. But the problem is that nobody always knows what the lowest price of Bitcoin will be during that bear market. So, with that in mind, it is better not to wait for a bear market, but to start accumulating at any time by making use of the DCA method. With DCA, you buy gradually, whether monthly, weekly, or it can even be at two-month intervals. With that, it is possible that you will be getting Bitcoin at different prices. The holding period will be determined by you. Some people are accumulating Bitcoin for future purchases, so they are not ready to sell soon. It all depends on your goal. And get this: the longer you hold Bitcoin, the more likely your holding period may determine what you gain from i

It depends on your preferred investment model. Since I use a Dollar-Cost Averaging DCA approach, the plan for buying and holding is established only at the initial stage; after that, I simply wait for the price to reach a level that yields a satisfactory return on my investment, at which point I sell usually in stages without waiting to hit an ATH.

There are scenarios I foresee that would force me to exit early, but so far, none of them have materialized.

One thing we will eventually accept is the fact that just a few investors are actually serious with how they go about their investment. many are too eager to see a fast return in their investment and that has led them to think of any smart way possible that they can use in either buying the DIP or timing the market so they can buy the DIP and be at a good profit point.

Ideally, an investor that is accumulating his bitcoin should strategies on modalities that will give him a good accumulation routine. in following up such, some investors have been found trying to gamble with their asset and when they get it all wrong, it sometimes even destroy the little one they have succeeded in accumulating.

Your statement is right. An investor should always be looking for strategies that gives good accumulation routine but it should also be understood that it cannot be done carelessly or done with the wrong funds. It's really good to increase your position because the more Bitcoin you are holding the more benefits you are likely to gain in future. While at it, we still need to be careful so we don't take a wrong step we might regret later on.

An investor practicing the DCA strategy can as well take advantage of the moment and buy the dip to increase his Bitcoin accumulation but can only be done when there's enough back up funds in place and has the ability to put more discretionary income into his investment. This can't be done carelessly else it will affect the investment in one way or another.

You may be new to Bitcoin but I am not new to Bitcoin. I have been involved in Bitcoin for a long time and have seen many big downs in Bitcoin and have seen it make big records. Now I at least believe that when Bitcoin is down 40-50% from its ATH, that is the best time to buy Bitcoin. However, this ratio may gradually decrease because as time goes by, Bitcoin is being adopted and big investors are buying and holding Bitcoin, so despite the demand for Bitcoin in the market, the supply will be low, so as time goes by, Bitcoin will be more expensive and the ratio of Bitcoin price correction will also decrease. However, this time it was down more than 50% and at this time, those who know about Bitcoin well have already bought a good amount of Bitcoin and are still continuing DCA

What about someone who can't afford to accumulate through the DCA method? Because the DCA method can be useful only if you can continue accumulating every month or week based on what you have decided for at least a few years or at least for a whole season, but if someone only has a fixed limit or capital, they can't divide that into so many months in which they have to accumulate at different prices, and they will need to make a decision about what price point they have to buy.

I would say, someone who can't afford to use the DCA method, they should simply decide a price point at which they are going to make their purchase. For example, if you have just $300 that you want to invest as a start, you decide that you are going to buy as soon as Bitcoin reaches $55k, so you have to do it regardless of the fact that it might go lower, etc. Or, if you see that the market conditions suggest that it is not going there at all, then you can make 3 portions of your capital, and start buying at $65k, make the second purchase at $60k, and then wait to see if it hits $55k and then make the final purchase, because if it doesn't go there, you will still have something to hold.

If you are making use of DCA strategy, you don’t have to take your time to be doing analysis, since you are making use of DCA strategy, you should plan yourself and be buying bitcoin within a specific period of time. You don’t have to be waiting for bitcoin price to drop before buying, you should just buy at the current market price, and just keep on holding. I feel it’s just the easiest strategy, and that’s why most people do recommend it. We should know that only long term investors are suppose to be making use of the strategy, if you are a short term investor, take your time to analyze the market before investing.

You must not accumulate for years or a whole season for the DCA to be useful to you. If you have a fixed amount that you just want to invest in bitcoin, you can still split it into different portions and invest each portion, weekly or monthly, till you exhaust that fixed amount you wanted to invest. Anywhere it ends is where your accumulation period stops at the moment till you get another money you might want to invest in the future. And in DCA you don’t bother about deciding on which price to buy, you buy when it is that time of the week or month that you are expected to accumulate.

You will not find any obligation or specific time to buy Bitcoin. If you have a plan to invest in the DCA method, then there is no waiting and paying attention to the market chart will not benefit you much, because it can make you lag behind. So the best way is to decide to invest for the long term and start DCA at any time. Now regarding selling, you can sell only when you are in profit and no one will stop you from doing so, but the best thing to do is to hold for a long time.

It depends on your choice, if you are a trader you will keep on looking at the market to take advantage of that small rise and fall, but if you are an investor you wouldn't mind buying bit by bit till an appointed time o your choice. For example you may have an investment plan of 10 to 15 years, you may start DCAing every week as little as $10 or more till the next 10-15 years before you will start to think of withdrawal. But it's not mandatory that you must reach that period of time before selling. You might have a change of plan and decide to sell. But make sure that any money you invest should be a money within your discretion, and also an amount you will not be needing anytime soon.

The best way to buy is to possibly acquire it when you have spare money and enough budget for it and not to be looking at a chart to decide who those are who are interested in trading Bitcoin and not buying and holding it, and the time to sell should be when there is a need for the money and not when the market is shaking, or you can set a price target of when you want to sell; each time it reaches the target, you can sell.
And by spare money what @Nwada001 mean is that you use what is your discretionary funds in purchasing bitcoin and not some funds you have to fund other real life projects which could put you under undue pressure to sell in loss and premature your coins, and base on the availability of your discretionary funds you can always use the DCA approach to buy as that's what most of the retail investors do. The price charts and market noises shouldn't concern you if you plan on investing in a long time plan, those things creates FOMO and can influence your choice of selling target if you pay too much attention to them.

So even if it has to take for a very long time a short term investor should keep analyzing the market before investing? This actually sounds so hilarious and no wonder there is nothing surprising as it is more easier and peaceful when it is in the long term than anything as that of the short term, analyzing the market before investing can sound more easier than done, no level of analysis can be proven to be certain and when it doesn't go as expected surely it becomes a complete waste of time, though everyone have the freedom to do whatever they like.

I think there's misunderstanding here, if someone adopts the DCA strategy as the method to use in accumulating Bitcoin, it means such person has decided that, he doesn't have anything to do with the price of Bitcoin at any given time, I mean he can buy bitcoin with no price restriction or worries that the price is up or down, note, the DCA method is an enabler of accumulating Bitcoin consistently, it can be daily, weekly or monthly as you stated and it is with your discreationary income, which is your left over funds after addressing your assential needs, the reason why DCA strategy is called a flexible strategy is because, an investor, investing $40 weekly for example, can go higher or lower as it depends on the investor's discreationary income.

I’m still a beginner in Bitcoin and trying to understand how people make their decisions
How do you decide when it’s the right time to buy, hold, or sell Bitcoin? Do you mainly look at the price and charts, or are there other things you consider before making a decision?
The right time to buy Bitcoin is now never delay or wait, as doing so will only leave you confused or indecisive when it comes to making a decision. If you are confident in this asset, you can purchase it immediately however, keep in mind that the money you spend or invest must be cold money, funds you can afford to part with so that your investment is not disrupted by your daily needs.

Regarding asset storage, do not leave your assets on an exchange even one you trust for too long instead, store them in a hardware wallet, such as a Trezor or a similar device. by storing in a hard wallet you have full control over your assets for the period you want. Of course, long term sales are ideal to get maximum results.

The right time you should buy bitcoin is when you have some left over funds that you know you can afford to lose it then you can use it to start buying bitcoin but if you don't have it don't force your self to buy.

If you are buying bitcoin you need to buy and hold it for a long time, also you can sell your bitcoin maybe not all your bitcoin holding when you know that you have reach your accumulation target then you can sell and take profit.

Some people decide based off moving averages, we can see this right now.  The lows currently showing are matched quite perfectly to the monthly moving average for BTC price chart.   However I've been told and I believe it is the case that this is a mistake because the moving average is just an indicator showing alongside the price, same as many other indicators its giving guidance not any actual strength by itself.

People will use whatever works and because the 200 day moving average is the worlds most widely used indicator or technical analysis instrument, its been known to carry  some power implicitly for some time.   I believe these effects are more momentary and trading based rather then actual strength further out in the medium and long term but for the moment that's what is happening right now.

I always defer to the longer time frames so 50 day and 200 day is where I'm looking for some kind of reset and finally the actual volume of buyers or sellers at any price level is the hard ground that really matters not the amalgamation or average for price approximated, we over rely on (nominal) averages to be honest.

Buying is easy. Anybody can press a button on an exchange and have bitcoin in their wallet mins later. The challenge is in holding when the market drops 50% and all the media says bitcoin is dead.
People who like to panic probably will not last long for HODL, they will follow the flow of the media to take action, let alone some exchanges shutdown, let alone the media said the market will continue to be bearish and bitcoin fell deeper.

Holding is emotional. Seeing your money on a screen which you worked hard for shrink so rapidly induces physical stress. Panic is what causes even the smartest investors to make dumb decisions. Thats why many people tend to buy at the high and sell at the low.
His usual this person can not control his emotional, more to panic that makes him do stupid actions to sell assets at a loss, well they can say beginners who do not have experience, but not a few who experience falling into excessive panic.

Do people buy shares, real estate, precious metals with amounts they can afford to lose? People go to the extent of taking loans to buy these assets. Bitcoin is an investment, and people put in large funds to benefit from it. I think we should buy Bitcoin with what we can afford to live without, not what we can afford to lose. I know there is some level of risk in Bitcoin investment, but I cannot afford to lose the amount I have invested in Bitcoin.

I’m still a beginner in Bitcoin and trying to understand how people make their decisions
How do you decide when it’s the right time to buy, hold, or sell Bitcoin? Do you mainly look at the price and charts, or are there other things you consider before making a decision?

The right time you should buy bitcoin is when you have some left over funds that you know you can afford to lose it then you can use it to start buying bitcoin but if you don't have it don't force your self to buy.

If you are buying bitcoin you need to buy and hold it for a long time, also you can sell your bitcoin maybe not all your bitcoin holding when you know that you have reach your accumulation target then you can sell and take profit.
Don't sit around buying Bitcoin with extra funds. Accumulate Bitcoin regularly and use discretionary income for it. No one will force you if you don't want to take risks, Bitcoin is not a mandatory investment. Don't be discouraged if you don't have income one week or don't have discretionary income available. Do it next week, if you can't next week, continue accumulating Bitcoin from the next week. Set a fixed point target for holding Bitcoin.

A target of 10 years that you will gradually increase from discretionary income through DCA method. You didn't mention the target but the accumulation target should be kept for a minimum of 4 years and a maximum of as long as your source of income exists. You can withdraw some of the profits after reaching over accumulation.

Every good investor or holder of Bitcoin have the decision made before entering into the investment to decide when to buy or hold at the center of the market is the reason many cried of losses as Bitcoin has many strategy means of buying and accumulating to decide is very easy mostly one who have diverse means of income we all know with the primary knowledge that market for holder is not buy during when bullish but when bearing mostly those who have some strategy of waiting for dip but investor with continuous buying like DCA which can be weekly or monthly will not care about the nature all depends on the individual investor when to buy is anchored on investor early decision.
