However, the biggest thing for me is that the survival of this Bitcoin network for such a long time was the most surprising thing. It was the biggest challenge for people not to believe it. In 2010, these things about Bitcoin were one of the biggest challenges for people to believe. No one believed that it would survive for such a long time and its value would increase so much.

Yeah, I never believed bitcoin could stand the test of time. 17 years is not last year the distance is way too much and not all coins that could survive this journey, I believe their are some coins that came along with bitcoin even though I didn't have evidence of any of those coins and they may not survive and even the ones that stand the test of time didn't have value anymore. Considering the distance it surprises me to see that bitcoin is still valuable, and it's has potential to do more. Currently there's no crypto currency that can be compared with bitcoin.

What would you have found hardest to believe back then?

It’s surprising how  bitcoin price has increased so much. When I knew about bitcoin, I think the price was around $10k, and I was saying the price was high then, I didn’t know the price was so low at that period, and we going to see something more higher than that. I never believe bitcoin price will pump to the current level, because I was still new then, and I was kind of scared.
Lots of countries have been against bitcoin in previous years, most of them tried to bring down bitcoin, but as we can still, bitcoin is still available, and the price keeps on increasing, it’s really surprising to me.

It's the fact that up until now, we still have no concrete evidence of who the creator is/are.
See? Until now, I still don't know what I will use to address Satoshi. Is it he? She? They? Them? Is? Are? Talking about pronouns, eh?

Kidding aside, this is the one that surprises me the most especially in an era where validation is pretty much becoming a norm, and popularity is becoming one of the ways for a company or whatever they have to market themselves. Satoshi remained anonymous the whole time, and Satoshi let the community spread the word of Bitcoin. With lots of information that we could get online, we still can't get concrete evidence on who Satoshi is/are, and the only thing that we can do is to speculate who really Satoshi is/are. Many documentaries have been done, people speculating who Satoshi really is/are, and a person who claims that he's Satoshi. If you know what I mean.

Survivability? As long as there's a huge community around it, it will survive. The creator being anonymous is what surprises me the most.

Like in January 2024, even months before that, there were effects from Bitcoin Spot ETF applications, speculations like with BlackRock participation there would be high successful approval rate this time, and actual operations and money flows from Bitcoin Spot ETFs, Bitcoin made its all time high. What happened months later, Bitcoin lost all time high, fell into a bear market while Bitcoin Spot ETFs have been still there.

I agree that Bitcoin’s price movements are truly exciting and mathematically beautiful. Bitcoin has always offered a second chance and is extremely democratic, because anyone who missed out once has another chance in the next cycle when the price hits a new low, and so on. Perhaps the volatility will decrease over time, and perhaps we won’t see it dip below the 100k mark again, but it always manages to surprise me thanks to its ability to remain unpredictable despite the general market trend.

To survive for this long is an achievement on its own. 17 years is actually not too long when compared to other assets existence but it's what differentiate bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin doesn't just survive for this long, it survived with growth and increasing potential. There were many other coins that along with Bitcoin but couldn't make it this far. Some of them still exist up to now but no one talk about them anymore because they are worthless. There's no point in survival if there's no more value. If you check their price history, you'll pity people that invest in them earlier years hoping it'll do well like bitcoin.

What surprised me about bitcoin is how it managed to reach this stage in the financial world while fiat existing at the same time, it was made to compete against the already established fiat system which i believe is a very brave thing and bitcoin reaching this big stage is a shocking thing. ETFs are great for helping Bitcoin rise over the long term, but I wouldn't say they're part of its ecosystem. This is just part of the centralized financial system, meant to introduce institutional investors right into Bitcoin. If there's one thing that's exciting about Bitcoin, is the advent of "De-Fi" right into the Blockchain. It all became possible after ETH's inception (which came after Bitcoin went into the fold).

Nowdays, there are sidechains and/or L2 networks on Bitcoin, enabling smart contract features. Many bitcoiners can now tap into the world of "De-Fi" using only their BTC. I mean, how cool is that? If this keeps up, we might not need to depend on Fiat or banks ever again. I can't imagine what will happen after the next 10 years. It would surely blow away our minds.

What surprised me the most is that Bitcoin managed to gain a huge market cap in just 17 years and it's in competition with gold. Just imagine, gold has been with us for so many centuries and at the moment, it's market cap is 29 trillion dollars while Bitcoin managed 1.7 trillion dollars in 17 years and these numbers will only grow because companies and even governments are planning to create Bitcoin reserves. It's basically already a digital gold in terms of store of value.

We who are directly involved in Bitcoin only know about Bitcoin well, but I really feel sorry for many people in the world who still do not know about Bitcoin. And some people are afraid to trust Bitcoin and they underestimate Bitcoin, their activities surprise me. When I first got involved with Bitcoin or knew about Bitcoin, I was very curious about this coin. Then gradually knowing some things, I decided to buy Bitcoin, at first I had no thought of buying continuously, but I saved some money and bought Bitcoin with that money and I kept that coin in my wallet. Now, what is surprising for me is a big change in my life, which I was not able to do anything about, today there is a big change in my life and its name is Bitcoin. If a person who invested in Bitcoin in 2010 sees this current price, this will be the most surprising thing here. Because in this current situation, the price of Bitcoin will likely increase even more in the future, so investing in Bitcoin is the best plan.

After a few months, I saw a good amount of profit from my Bitcoin, from then on I had the idea that undoubtedly this coin is reliable and has potential in the future, so I have to invest in this coin and hold this coin anyway.  Since then, I have been working on holding investments in a long-term plan.

I believe it is the best because it has been around for a long time with market trust. Of course, I am surprised that it is able to last longer because there have been no scams in the past, and I don't think there will be any scams in the future either because now many people in the world have built trust in Bitcoin. And many more large institutions are holding Bitcoin, but those who are whale holders have been holding Bitcoin for a long time.
However, my regret is for those who were not ready to hold this Bitcoin even after seeing it in time, or could not take the risk at the last moment. Those who were not able to buy Bitcoin at that cheap time are still failures to this day.

I'm very sure that a lot of people has stated what surprised them the most about Bitcoin. For me, the most surprising thing to me is that Bitcoin has been able to work without any individual or company running it. Despite the pressure Bitcoin is facing, the criticism and some large companies/ governments trying to affect Bitcoin all these years, Bitcoin is still functioning on the same basic concept.  Over the years Bitcoin has experienced many changes, arguments, issues and other types of problems, but the network remains and continues to do what it was ever designed to do.This is something no one could have ever imagined back in the early days of Bitcoin.

Actually I was not in this crypto world in the beginning but after learning and knowing about crypto I had a strong interest in knowing about Bitcoin so later when I learned about the history and progress of Bitcoin the matter of buying and eating pizza with Bitcoin seemed surprising to me. The matter of buying and eating pizza with Bitcoin was really interesting which everyone knows now and that day is specially celebrated.

The progress of Bitcoin and the matter of keeping the crypto world alive and moving it forward is amazing. At one time no one could have much trust in it but that Bitcoin is currently leading the crypto market as the greatest coin of the short period.
