What would you have found hardest to believe back then?
What surprised me about bitcoin is how it managed to reach this stage in the financial world while fiat existing at the same time, it was made to compete against the already established fiat system which i believe is a very brave thing and bitcoin reaching this big stage is a shocking thing. I myself would hardly believe on a new thing like BTC and no doubt i would be interested in it but I wouldnt invest in it and bitcoin going from that stage where people would hardly believe on it to having one of the top market caps in assets is a very impressive thing imo,
Just want to talk about how bitcoin became to compete with fiat. I don’t agree with this opinion, as I think that each of them has a different role to play. Bitcoin is not only an exchangeable asset but also an electronic cashless payment system. Each of them can be used in different contexts, especially when we talk about privacy. Since it does not fit with the main idea, Bitcoin is not a good fit for a centralized system.
Fiat money is not compatible with a privacy-oriented ecosystem. Sure, they both are used as payment methods, but they are different from each other. Here’s how and why they can co-exist, and they’ll both be around together much longer than you think.

IMO, the most surprising part about BTC for me and probably for most people, is how incredibly resilient it is. BTC started out of dissatisfaction with the fiat system and in the beginning was almost worthless, but Bitcoin managed to get through a series of major crises, followed by the collapse of several exchanges like Mt. Gox and FTX and even bans in various countries yet BTC still survives and grows.

Many speculated that BTC would die, but instead it grew into a major asset with huge capitalization. Of course, for me and especially for those who were around at Bitcoin's early days, the hardest thing to believe now isn’t just that its price once topped $126k, but the widespread adoption. Even the US became the largest holder of BTC, El Salvador made it legal tender and a few companies use BTC. So, the original BTC concept was considered unlikely to last because no one controlled it, but now it's a national strategic reserve and a valuable asset which would have been almost impossible to believe in Bitcoin's early years.

The adoption of Bitcoin as a national strategic reserve was something no one thought would become a reality in the early days. This is surprising to many. Especially old Bitcoiners like myself. For Bitcoin to reach this far, it means it's already a "force to reckon" with. Just like Gold. It will be with us for generations.

17 years in the making, yet Bitcoin has emerged bigger and stronger than ever. Imagine what surprises we'll find by the next decade. What's important is that Bitcoin stays true to its roots of decentralization and censorship-resistance. The day it gets compromised, will be the end Bitcoin will die for good. I'd pay close attention to the network, just in case.

Bitcoin has been around for 17 years now.

Looking back, what part of Bitcoin’s journey has surprised you the most?

And what do you think someone from 2010 would find hardest to believe about Bitcoin today?

Maybe the price, institutional adoption, countries holding it, the size of the mining industry, or simply how long Bitcoin has survived.

What would you have found hardest to believe back then?
The most surprising thing about Bitcoin is that it has become a store of value. Personal and institutional adoption has transformed Bitcoin from a digital asset to a store of value.

Bitcoin initially sold for a nominal price and reached its highest ATH in 16 years at $126k. This may come as a surprise to many, but since Bitcoin’s supply is limited, the price should have been higher at this time.

If a new investor analyzes Bitcoin, they will be surprised to see this rise in price. In fact if you analyze the basic structure of Bitcoin you will realize that the value of this asset will increase a lot in the future.

In the last 17 years, it's become a reality from mystery and enough hype about many things that were never favorable, but now it's all having its strength because many countries are working on having it as a national reserve, which is the biggest achievement and brings Bitcoin to this beyond level of financial world.
Coming years are going to be many big things, especially because price is going to touch many highs with institutional adoption doing great work because with this its price and stability have enough that no one ever has its future and features like this because mostly we're arguing about its existence as P2P or currency, but now it's on a level where it could be a game changer.
