Lol I used an iPhone because it's one of the most compared when it comes to Bitcoin and what people tend to buy.
And I wanted to see perspective when luxury spending is on the line. [/left]
I'm not sure there should be an issue with that. Maybe we should just accept that iPhones are overrated. They are just like any other asset you can spend your money on, but people these days treat iPhones as a luxury, which I don't think they are.Buying an iPhone with Bitcoin shouldn't be a big discussion. Bitcoin is money, and money is meant to be spent on whatever we choose. As long as you own the keys, the Bitcoin is yours, and you can decide whether to keep it or spend it on something you want.

Personally, I don't like iPhones. I prefer Samsung devices, and as I said, I think iPhones are overrated. Apple keeps releasing new series with very small differences between them, making the upgrades feel less significant. At this point, it seems like they are just flooding the market with new versions while falling behind in some areas.

Yeah its overrated and usually people buys it for flexing and shows to people that they already got their latest released.

But for me I don't buy those expensive craps and don't want to joined on the trend on which, we need to spend lots of money for just a depreciating assets. Actually there are many smartphones which have good camera, great specs and in more cheaper price. Which is I think enough for me.

Samsung and actually we can do everything what we like in this phone the same on IPhone to. I just use the rest of my funds on my investment rather buy the latest which I also think not practical option for normal people.

Their is nothing wrong buying iPhone with bitcoin so far as one can afford it. Some people might see it as a problem because it is bitcoin, it is better if the Bitcoin is invested, this is right only if one cant afford an iPhone and what one should be looking out on is to have an investment. For those who choose to own an iPhone,  the amount of bitcoin you buy an iPhone differs as the day counts. Bitcoin gains more value with time and iPhone depreciates with time. IPhone is one of the most expensive devices, i think the set of persons who are more qualify to obtain it are those that can afford it.

If the person is able to buy an iPhone with Bitcoin, then that is good.  I do not think it differs from buying an iPhone with fiat currency.  After all, whether a person uses Bitcoin or fiat currency to buy Iphone is the same thing.  He lost the same amount in exchange for an iPhone at that moment.  If a person is so paranoid that after purchasing the iPhone, he thinks he is about to lose a fortune if he uses Bitcoin, then he can always replace that spent Bitcoin by converting his fiat money to Bitcoin.  After all market for Bitcoin is accessible anytime.

Using Bitcoin to pay for an iPhone isn’t unusual for those who do so, as long as the store accepts Bitcoin payments. My decision is this: if the store where I’m buying the iPhone accepts both Bitcoin and fiat currency, I’d rather pay with fiat than Bitcoin. If you hold fiat, its value will decrease over time, whereas Bitcoin has already proven itself as a hedge.
In my opinion, those who choose to use Bitcoin to buy an iPhone probably don’t mind when their Bitcoin holdings decrease.

If you want it, get it.  Purchasing an iPhone using Bitcoin is not about Bitcoin but about whether you actually want or need it.  My opinion is that Apple is using any thing possible to increase their profits by even 0.5 percent, even if that means their customers will be less happy, because their customers are too loyal to give up on them and will continue to pay or even get in pretty big debt to get their most recent release.

You can use Bitcoin to get Monero, a laptop to sync the Bitcoin Blockchain faster, an iPhone or even a prostitute.  A decision can be more or less rational.  In my opinion.  Limiting your self to 'never selling Bitcoin at all' means you will never actually get to live and enjoy the advantages of this economy.  What is the plan, die before your Bitcoin is sold?  Then why hold Bitcoin, to some body who thinks that way I would say spend the money instead and enjoy life, it is short any way.

People who want to buy an iPhone, specifically the latest brand, will buy it for bitcoins if they are offered to make a purchase faster than for fiat. Some people are literally preoccupied with buying trending items of the latest models, and they don't look at the price, they stand in lines, and yes, their dreams and their happiness lie in purchasing such latest models. Fortunately, I don't suffer from this, but I know such people in my community. Honestly, I don’t see any issue with using Bitcoin to purchase an iPhone. Its price It’s not an exorbitant amount, but maybe owning an iPhone will make people happy? Let it be so. It seems to me that this is a very small problem, and I envy such people a little, thinking how little they need to be happy.🤷‍♀️

I've bought a lot of things paying directly with BTC over the years and I still do that sometimes when it comes to things that I can order at the PO BOX and when it comes to privacy, but considering that many sellers have started using various AML bots/services with which they analyze transactions, I try to avoid possible problems that may arise from it.

If you have cash or a card, that is the simplest way to buy a phone or anything else, but if you really want to buy using Bitcoin, I don't see a problem with that either - after all, BTC is a cryptocurrency, and there is nothing wrong with using it for that purpose.

Still, advice - never pay from your main wallet, which can reveal to the seller how much value you store in that wallet - mix or swap your coins, send to a new wallet and then make a transaction.

As lionheart78 pointed out above, there isnt really any difference between buying an iPhone with Bitcoin or fiat. You're giving up the same amount of money at that point.

If you use Bitcoin to pay for it but later realize that holding that amount of BTC would be more beneficial in the long run, you can simply use fiat to buy the same amount of BTC back.

What matters here is how you choose to allocate your assets, not which currency you use to pay for the iPhone.

Let's say that I can afford to buy it but that's going to cost a lot on my holdings. As much as I would like to have one, this is what I remember for this type of purchase.

snip

I think that I'll wait for a couple of years until I'll be able to afford that. On this type of economy, I'll have to save and put the needs first. But if you can afford it and that's going to make you happy, that's one of the reasons why we invest and that's to afford things and become happy with that purchase and by owning one of the latest releases.

Well, Apple has recently increased the price of the iphone 17 and so the new amount in BTC would be approximately 0.0116 BTC.
To be honest, I will not use my BTC to buy an iphone even though I want to.
I will rather spend fiat to purchase an iphone than to use my BTC because I am currently in accumulation phase.
It's better to accumulate as much BTC at this point as I can, may be once I am finally sure of spending all my savings on luxury then I can consider using my BTC.
Until then, BTC would be the last thing I would spend on things.

0.116 BTC? So they raised the price of the iPhone 17 to over $8k?

If it's just buying with spare money and the money is in bitcoin, then I will buy it, but if its for me to sacrifice my bitcoin to acquire the hype of the latest version of iPhone it's not worth it and I won't even risk it.

Not sure information in this graphic is correct.

Coingecko has a post about that and figures there are different than what are presented in your shared graphic.
The cost of an iPhone in Bitcoin, over years 2011 - 2025.

People can need smart phones to use but actually can avoid luxury smartphones like iPhone. They can save a lot of money for other things such as investment or their emergency funds.

I would say that the way you asked this question is not the right way, because you shouldn't ask if people would generally use their bitcoins or fiat to make the purchase, because the answer to this question would be that a person would choose the option that seems to be the most convenient for them at that moment. However, what you need to ask is whether someone would spend bitcoins that they are holding to buy an iPhone or not.

This question is more valid because this will test whether they believe using a portion of their funds to buy something is worth it or not, and this is where the fact that the value of the bitcoins spent can be way higher in the future can fit, but if someone is simply using bitcoins that they specifically purchased so that they can spend it, then it wouldn't make that big of a difference because spending $2,000 in fiat or spending bitcoins worth $2,000 at present are basically the same thing unless the bitcoins are taken out of an investment.

The topic it's quite generic I know just curious after having a conversation that circled around this area.

Supposed there's a marketplace where devices are sold (let's use this first)
And they accept Bitcoin and Fiat.
What's your thought on someone that chooses to use their Bitcoin to buy an iPhone?

Lol I used an iPhone because it's one of the most compared when it comes to Bitcoin and what people tend to buy.
And I wanted to see perspective when luxury spending is on the line.
I wouldn't use my crypto especially my bitcoin to buy an iPhone if there is an availability for me to use Fiat. However people have the Liberty to use their assets to get whatever they want and if for any reason someone uses his Bitcoin in exchange or to get an iPhone I don't see any big deal in that, but on a personal note I will not use my bitcoin to buy an iPhone, I would rather use Fiat. People only place value to what appears to them as valuable, but in the hierarchy of mobile phones, I will rather go for a Samsung phone of a greater version than even an iPhone.

Selling Bitcoin is not a bad decision if necessary, but it is wise to consider how urgent your need is and then sell Bitcoin. To enjoy life you can sell some assets but it should better store some for danger. What is a luxury for some may seem ordinary to another. However, if someone had invested in Bitcoin instead of buying an iPhone X in 2017, that investment would have increased 10x and even if they bought five iPhone18 Pro Max today and would also have some money for investing. This kind of mentality separates from the ordinary people to make different.

What's your thought on someone that chooses to use their Bitcoin to buy an iPhone?
I personally would never buy an iPhone using Bitcoin. Because a phone's price drops a lot within a few months of leaving the showroom. On the other hand we know that Bitcoin gets more expensive over time, So if I need to buy a hobby gadget or luxury item, I will always use regular fiat money. But yes if there is a situation where I make a good profit from Bitcoin in the bull run, then maybe I can buy a phone with the profit money or fulfill one of my hobbies. However I am not in favor of blowing my accumulated Bitcoins behind a gadget.

Do you know a shop over there that accepts crypto payment and the owners are still alive? Have we all been set lose now? I have since been living in deep trepidation over the last few years from the case of an alleged attack on store owners for displaying banners that read " we accept Bitcoin payments here". This is the second time I'm making reference to that post, but I just can't find it anymore.

Well, I don't know if they are still alive, but they are in a safe place because usually those who accept crypto payment are inside the mall I don't see sellers or iPhone distributors here that accept BTC payment that sells their product outside malls.
About losses, I don't think they are at a loss since they made a bit more profit higher than the actual price of the iPhone. I believe they immediately exchange them into stablecoins or sell the BTC for fiat because if I am the owner, I'm doing the same thing because I am in business; we don't want to lose business, and it should always be in profit.

A good bitcoin holder will not sell his bitcoin to buy anything of value or less when he has fiat or when there are other options to get money from other source but for someone who has other sources of income which he uses for his investment in bitcoin like a content creator or an online writer who needs a good phone with quality camera for quality pictures and good editing if he is not selling his bitcoin at loss it is not a bad idea if he decides to use part of the profit in his bitcoin portfolio to buy an iPhone since it will help to increase the quality of his content and he will have the advantage of making more money to continue his bitcoin investments.

Bitcoin as we know  is a store of value and an asset that is highly velotilein nature, an iPhone will be like an asset to someone who uses I for business to make more money, if the intention of someone who decides to sell his assets is to use the money buy the phone for just phone calls then the decision is wrong but it is for the purposes of making money to also invest in an asset like bitcoin then it is a very wise decision.

The predicted scarcity of bitcoin in the nearest future, and the way big institutions are moving with this whole thing has brainwashed people into believing they should never sell theirs.
My opinion is that the 'hold Bitcoin for ever' mentality comes for the most part out of people who are currently on a loss they did not plan to have and are hoping through this mentality they will fix what went wrong.

-----

I doubt it is actual happiness.  It is a short lived excitement of the same level many people get when picking up and unboxing a delivery.  Or.  When they purchase things from a Mall.  I would not really say a 1200 Dollar product is 'little' though!

How about in a personal situation where the only money you have is in bitcoin? Will you convert some of that bitcoin to fiat before buying the iPhone or won't you buy it all? I personally don't see any big deal with that so long as the phone is actually what the person wants and they is not just interested in it because of fear pressure, I can use bitcoin to acquire it unless in the fact that I don't really fancy the iPhone, I can use bitcoin to acquire other gadgets.

I never spend money in buying expensive smartphones because a 200 or 300 dollar smart phone has all the features that we want. iPhone is expensive smartphone and spending money on that is just wastage of money. I will never use my fiat to buy such expensive electronic gadgets and using Bitcoin for that matter is out of question. Every time iPhone launches its new model, people rush to buy that one and I have no idea why people went crazy for that ever year. I have a friend in my circle, who is sending his kids to an inexpensive school just to save money but regularly buy latest iPhone. We must set priorities in life and spend money accordingly.
