I've recently started browsing live casino games, the ones with a live dealer, and I've observed something interesting... Some of them keep their chat permanently closed. Even if you gamble there, you can't comment. Not after gambling any amount, never. The host just keeps talking, they may see your name and your bets and your wins and try to interact, but you can't respond back at all.
What's the point of having the game live then? I'll never understand why a casino would do this.

But if you look at it this way, even as it is live, it does not mean you need to interact. For example you are watching match live, do you interact with this commentators? Obviously no. So if you look at it like that, I see no reason why you would question them on this matter. Live just shows how the game is. Everybody can see the same game together. If the chats is even opened, there are some people who will misuse that opportunity. They will start dropping their spam messages and the rest.

Hmm, I often feel that if they disable chat feature then what’s the point of having live dealer in first place? However, I’ve noticed that during live game, some player lose their tempers after string of loss and end up verbally abusing or insulting dealer and other player. I have seen many reputable casino usually assign dedicated moderator to filter out such behavior. To avoid this extra hassle and expense casino company often choose to disable the chat function entirely.

It's entirely possible that the live dealer studio isn't owned by the online casino itself, but by the game provider. I wouldn't even be surprised if a single live dealer game was streamed simultaneously by several online casinos. 🙋
In this case, chat simply needs to be disabled... Casinos compete for customers. They don't want another casino to steal their players. However, this is exactly what could happen if you organize a single, shared chat.
Furthermore, imagine the chaos that would arise if players from several casinos started communicating in the same chat. Not to mention that some of them might start coordinating bets on the game directly in the chat. The casino has no interest in this. And in any case, the live dealer should be organizing the game, not acting as a comedian answering questions from the chat. No one wants that kind of chaos. 🤷

To avoid this extra hassle and expense casino company often choose to disable the chat function entirely. I agree with this, it can also help the casino to maintain a respectful environment between dealers and players, it's good to limit emotional outbursts and bad manners from vulgar and less emotionally mature gamblers, I think it is a good decision to close the chat. Again it might be distracting when vulgar words, bad manners, hate speech, sharing sensitive info or illegal claims and other side comments fills the chat section and might make the live environment tensed and violate chat policies. Taking off the chats can help maintain the integrity of the game and enhance focus.

What I have noticed that when chat option is active, dealers often lose focus while answering players question and chatting with them. As a result there are sometime delays in dealing card or spinning the wheel. If that chat option is disabled then dealer can focus solely on conducting the game quickly. And naturally the more rounds played per hour the higher casino's profit. So it is casino's core team that mandates disabling that chat option, dealer is not at responsible here.

I honestly understand your point clearly, but if I may ask, what do you want to communicate about when you need to focus on the game? Actually, I believe the main reason why the chat is permanently closed is literally that the dealers are not customer support agents who will answer any questions or pass along any information except information about the current gameplay. The dealer is not different from a commentator in football. I also believe that most players mute the mic so that they can concentrate more on the gameplay and not on what the dealer is saying.

Perhaps you don't understand the type of live op is talking about, it's just like when you're streaming a match maybe in any of these betting sites. There's always a live chat, you will see different gamblers making comments especially those that bet on the game, and sure I used to join the live chat most of the time but I don't always find it interesting because they say a lot of meaningless things there. Some folks even try to scam people through that live chat, thereby dropping links that you may not even know where it came from. but I believe there are people who find it interesting.

I don't think you understand the idea behind something being live and definitely it's not the same as using a commentary rather there are football live streaming apps where you are allowed to chat and comment live, haven't you watched or even played a live game across any platform? It encourages interaction, it fun and in my own opinion it's a good way to for some to enjoy the experience even better.

It's not really hard to understand, I mean, their reasoning for it is most likely so dealers avoid verbal harassment from gamblers, especially their female dealers. Knowing how gamblers are, it wouldn't be surprising if they verbally harass dealers if they lose. That being said, they should at least have a chatbox among players.

I'd guess this is more of a "marketing ploy" than an actual solution. It just seems technically difficult to me, given the need for enough live dealers at venues where thousands of players are playing at the same time. Well, maybe there will be some random interaction here and there, but that's purely to maintain the "appearance of the live dealer feature".

You will not find the chat option turned off at all tables. Many tables have live chat enabled where you can communicate but they may have some internal reasons that keep the chat option off for some tables. I have found the option to chat at some tables while playing blackjack and I did it especially when playing on PC this feature is very interesting but when playing on a smartphone it is difficult to use this feature to monitor the game. Actually this chat option is not very important because if you have any problem you will have to tell the live support and communicating with the dealer can be just a fun.

Yeah I used to ask myself that question before, but then I got to realize that the live part in the live casino is more about merely just making the game feel a lot more like a real table like in actual physical casinos, but not necessarily about creating any genuine interaction. The decision of the casino to close the chats could actually be a deliberate move to make sure that they reduce moderation problems, control the experience and most importantly, to prevent players from actually influencing the emotions of other players. At least that’s how I see it.

It doesn't seem like an absolute requirement to be interacting with the dealer in order to play live casino games but rather a luxury or perk that lonely players might want? Offering live casino games can be purely to give players more confidence in the randomness of the game rather than playing with fixed odd slot machines and is also closer to recreating the feel of a real casino, yet it's not essential for the host to talk for the game to play. There might be all kinds of different reasons, some may not be confident in English, have enough experience with creating casual conversation spurred by guests, may be on a cooldown after engaging with some rude players or just generally want a break from forced conversation. I'd think of talking as more of a bonus rather than an essential when playing live casino games and it can be that simple. It's also worth considering that some of them might be AI or faked in other ways, because that software can be create extremely life like versions of people that can be hard to spot.

I totally agree with @Smartprofit for the reason why chats in live gambling rooms are disabled. The first reason is probably what he explained, because unless a live room is specifically organized by the casino itself, where they can have command over the chat and can allow live chatting because there won't be much problems, but most live rooms are from game providers, and as mentioned by @Smartprofit, those live rooms are basically running across multiple casinos and I have seen this myself. If there is a Live Blackjack room from let's say Pragmatic Play, you will see the room in multiple casino platforms at the same time and I have noticed this on several occasions. The other reasoning is also very valid. The dealers in a live casino room should have some interactions with the gamblers because that keeps things fun and more engaging, but it shouldn't be like the dealer is doing a live stream instead of running a gambling room, because if the chat is active, and they are busy reading and responding to chats, that is going to disturb the game, and most people go into these rooms for playing not for chatting. So this could also be one of the reasons why casinos or even the game providers keep the chats inactive in live casino rooms.

Live casino games only keep the game live, in this case they keep it live for this purpose, there is something live to watch and accordingly users can bet as they wish. But as you say, why do most live casino games keep their live chat off and what is one of the main secrets behind it? There is no other reason to turn off the live chat, but they turn it off only to avoid spam. Here, basically many users can participate directly, in this case, if everyone starts sending spam messages, then the environment becomes completely chaotic, that is why they can only send one-way messages, i.e. only the authorities can send messages but the users cannot.

I believe that, the dealers must have gotten a bad experience from gamblers in live game which has made them disable the gamblers from having access of communication with the dealer.
Gamblers can act or say things based on their emotions at that moment when they're gambling especially, when they're on a losing streak. Don't feel bad towards it because there must be a good reason why the dealer keep the chat closed in a live casino.

There can be a lot of reason but I think that there's a need for the players to simply focus on the game itself rather than chit chat. I understand that there's fun in having a conversation with the dealer and other players if necessary or by commenting. But it's the casino's prerogative to open it or not. He (OP) might have been banned from the chat without realizing it Yes, or this!
