I think Bangladesh has a good chance of securing a medal in the Asian Games men’s cricket. Among the teams participating as I said earlier in your cricket discussion thread, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh are the tough teams. On top of that I can see experienced players like Litton Das leading the team from the front. I am also a huge fan of Mustafizur Rahman. So they both have good experience and skill sets. If the team collectively plays well then there is a huge chance that they might secure a bronze or even a silver medal. Getting gold is quite literally hard, as India and Sri Lanka are also in the bracket.

According to ESPN's Asian Games 2026 Medals Tally, I just saw that Bangladesh won 1 bronze medal, which confirmed its 1st medal of the Asian Games 2026. It was probably the Wushu game, although I have no idea about this game, I don't know the rules of this game.

I thought Bangladesh would not be able to win any medal but they confirmed only 1 medal. Jinnat Akhter won the medal, so I would like to thank her especially.

On top of that I can see experienced players like Litton Das leading the team from the front.

I have no confidence in Liton Das. If you look at Liton Das's performance in the last series, then the matter will be clear to you. Yes, as a Bangladeshi, I can expect a bronze medal, I should not expect anything more than that.

Carlos Yulo has delivered the Philippines' first gold medal of the 20th Asian Games, ruling the men's floor exercise final on Thursday at the Nagoya City General Gymnasium and making history as the country's first Asian Games gold medalist in artistic gymnastics.

Yulo posted the highest score of 14.666 to secure the gold, topping Kazakhstan's Milad Karimi and Japan's Shoma Tsukiyama. Meanwhile, his younger brother Karl Eldrew registered 12.223, good for seventh place, in his Asian Games debut.

The two-time Olympic champion already displayed top form in this apparatus from the get go, as he entered the final as the top qualifier after scoring 14.600 in the preliminary round. He also led the field in the men's team final on Wednesday, scoring 14.266 on floor as the Philippines finished sixth.

Look how the Chinese suddenly started dominating this game from the 80s. They explicitly modeled their sports infra like the Soviet Union. The reason was political at that time. Now it is giving them recognition globally. They are dominating most of the events after Russia was removed due to the war against Ukraine. A classic example of why every country that is developing or is developed should modestly follow their model if they want sports to be uplifted in their society.

China’s dominance in various sports is truly remarkable. And yes, whatever methods they employ are certainly worth emulating by other countries if they wish to achieve the same level of progress as China in the field of sports. they excel not just in one or two sports, but in nearly all of them.

However, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand are also making rapid progress. Still, the number of gold medals China has managed to win is truly on a whole different level. My country, Indonesia, actually seems to be lagging a bit when it comes to discovering athletic talent across various sports; we only excel in a few disciplines, one of which is badminton.

When we talk of asian games, I knew before the start that China will dominate in largely in everything, because when their is Olympics, they are the only one up there competing with the US and other great nations that has that history of competing very well in the competition, so am not too surprised by their dominance so far in the Asian games. As it stands it's a matter of which team will be second after them, because i don't think any team that will get as much medals as the Chinese in this asian games going on.

Saw this feed on my Facebook yesterday and he won a gold, that is great for him and the Philippines had their first gold. But you are hoping the government would recognize him, yes they will as they love to recognize athletes, but unlikely to reward him like they did before. Different government now and I don't think they would spend money to support him or reward him with money.

Also before, it was the private sector that gave him rewards. Now that businesses are struggling in the country, I don't know if they could still think of doing that. It's expected anyway that he wins gold since he already won in the Olympics.

China is untouchable—and that's entirely predictable. It's a country that spends enormous amounts of money on training its athletes. It also has a large population and fierce competition, as well as the best selection process for athletes. And the pool for selection based on outstanding qualities is enormous. Following China are Japan and South Korea, as well as Kazakhstan, which was a bit of a surprise to me personally. Overall, the top three medalists weren't surprising—the most economically developed countries get points for the best training of their athletes.

Our hope is for the private companies to finally let go the full funding on Basketball and diversify to other sports that we truly excel.

Wow first to gold carlos congrats, well the people now are starting again to attack him because he won gold, the guy is fighting for his country and for his self and the people are throwing stones, we don't need to meddle with his life, he has already lots of things in his mind, and what others do is attack him imagine winning gold, and what other say is how ungrateful to his family, do we really think as a catholic or in a religion, god put him up again, and those people who had never help the country like this are the one dislikes him how sad.

As for the virtual taekwondo, thanks for this info, I was not aware of this "sports" as it was the first time that they allowed in in Asian games and next is in the Olympics. So this is a non-contact sports obviously.

The athletes that are fighting are 10 feet again and they have their avatars projected in a screen as they fight. But i don't know, for hardcore fans of contact sports, maybe they won't consider this virtual sports, just saying.

^^ You beat me to it kababayan, yes, our very own Carlos Yulo delivered again to give us our second gold medal.

So proud right now to see that we are in the medal standing. I remember back then, when Diaz won our first gold medal for our country. It was really a instant gratification. I'm haven't check the schedule yet, but hopefully there will be more gold medals for us like in boxing or any other sports.

I’m also thrilled about the gold medal Carlos won for the Philippines, and it seems like it was quite a dramatic victory. after all, Carlos even slipped during the preliminary round but managed to turn things around. And I think he’ll truly become a legend because he’s already brought home two gold medals for his country. Everyone must be proud of this achievement.

I’m also proud of our first gold medal at this year’s Asian Games, which came in badminton. And I’m proud of that achievement.
