Jobs today aren't even long term anymore, unlike in the past where my parent were able to build a lot of properties using salary, today no one dares do this unless that job isn't a very common one and it's going to take alot of your time and effort.

Things have changed completely, it's either you become a boss of yourself or you choose to work under someone who can sack you one Monday morning, but can't deny that there are some jobs that will always be there no matter what.

Examples are lecturers and teachers, they hardly get sacked at their jobs, it's just that skills are paying more than servicing the public, either ways you choose what suits you best.

I can't agree regarding teachers and professors. Very often they do lose their jobs, especially where students have the opportunity to evaluate the quality of teaching and how engaging the subject is, and where this evaluation actually affects how things are run at the university. If students pay for their education, they have the right to demand certain things. In that case, professors also depend on this, because students are their main stakeholders. And if a professor thinks they can teach the exact same course for decades without adapting it to modern realities, they might not get the required number of hours and will simply be left without a job.

Jobs especially from Private organizations or companies have not been certain and secured as far as I know, it is not like the government jobs that are guaranteed to be secure till retirement, the companies layoff employees at their discretion especially when there is strong need to do so.

You’re right, is only government jobs that always give you guaranteed till you retired, but other companies will not give you assurance, because is just as a temporary job, you can be sacked anytime they find you’re not helping to company or organization you’re into. If they find things are not going well, the next thing they do is to look for another alternative to replace you. No job does not have its own advantage and at the same time disadvantages, when we talk about job security, there are so many factors we have to consider, and we must be able to balance them and ensure that each fits the same applicable conditions for why we wanted to get hired for a particular job and maintain it.

Bro, incentive is everything, and companies are designed to be profitable, not loyal, although loyalty is rare and valued in some. Like recently, a company was sold and the founder gave bonuses to every employee according to their work and rank. It can be a technique to lower taxes, can't tell, but they must have been given some compensation for that too.

Now if we compare the US, China, and Japan, then you will see a huge difference. Like in the US, any party can walk away anytime, and layoffs are a standard quarterly tool for managing shareholder expectations. But in Japan, it's the total opposite. They give lifetime employment and they keep rewarding their loyal employees, although with the new generation, that is changing, but it still has deep roots in many big companies there. Their layoff procedure is also very interesting. Now China is a bit moderate. Their culture demands work from you, it can be a 9 am to 6 pm job, and only one day off a week.

Some people are cool with being the middle class or even being the lower class because they do not have the strength to take the risks that comes with business, the downtimes, the uncertainties, the tides. The level of inflation in the society even in the developed countries is on the rise of which salaries find it difficult to keep up with the rising inflation. Having a paid job that will pay your bills and you have some side hustle that you do and considered as a business.
If both earns and you're having a great time to both of them, it could work together.
But if that business and side hustle starts to become stable and earns more, you'll end up leaving that paid job soon.

No one was born to do business, the process was learnt groomed and perfected. It is like any other skill besides most of the simple calculations we did in our elementary days was geared towards making us profitable in business and money calculations. But if anyone feels too lazy to venture into business the same way we have people lazy about learning skills or acquiring degrees the best approach is to hire people who manage this business and make returns. Witnessing huge layoffs from employment giants like PayPal, Dell and Uber, something is definitely has definitely change in the job space that's not talked of as  much.

For a long time now, getting into a good company brought about the feeling of finding a home. You work hard, stay loyal, climb the ladder, And then expect the company to reward such a loyalty with stability. Well, in today's reality, that is no longer the case.

Companies often have targets, shareholders obligations to fulfill, competition, and operating costs to all to navigate. If the numbers no longer make sense then drastic actions need to be undertake.

Personally I don't think it's about the company being evil, but more about incentives. A company can value an employee but still decide that keeping that employee doesn't make economic sense.

I can say with confidence that you cannot 100% count or rely on any job in this world. Doing so is rather naive and, to put it mildly, quite foolish.

Years ago, when I was a young man making plans for my life, I set my priorities and began working toward my goals, as I had a decent job and a steady income. For a time, I saved money for specific objectives and major purchases. However, all of that was undone in a single day when an order was issued listing me for termination. It came as a shock; I had been laid off as part of a staff reduction. For days, I struggled to believe what had happened, but there was no changing the situation. Since then, I have become much wiser and no longer pin all my hopes on a job.

The one very thing to note is that one shouldn't depend on their job alone all through their life; you can either have another side hustle or a side business to help increase your income if your job pay isn't enough to take care of your day-to-day expenses.
