You're are right, some people forget to know that there's nothing like best exchange because all of them are capable of bring hacked. Some people will always fall victim to news like this because they are adamant when it comes to the security of their wallets. It's not as if we can avoid exchanges completely but keeping one's crypto assets in those platforms is just very risky because anything can happen to them.

I do not pity people who are aware of the dangers of keeping their crypto assets on centralized exchanges but still choose to give deaf ears. What is even so difficult in keeping one's crypto where you will own the keys to the wallet. I know that some persons might use because of the gas fee they will need to pay whenever they want to send bitcoins to centralized exchanges from self custody wallet but the last time I checked gas fee on a transaction, it was just few cents which is better than risking your money on exchanges.

If there's one thing people should consider to take more seriously about Bitcoin then it's wallet security cause if it's not secured then everything they're trying to save might end up belonging to someone else. I don't think the story in that image actually relates to the hack. Even from the time stamp, you can see that it was posted before the attack happened. You can check Bitget app now... They just posted the information regarding the hack on their Announcement section. And as for the issue of security, well, it's not like these security systems aren't that strong, it's just that a one-time security protocol doesn't prevent a company from hacks. There needs to be a consistent follow up and upgrades when necessary. But mind you, we also have some weird geniuses who sits in front a computer all day, looking for flaws and vulnerabilities to exploit. I don't think I remember the last time people get away with robbery offline but the online banking with crypto exchange is terrible. Yes, there are some exchanges that are not better than many banks, but they can close at any time or their money can be blocked. There are some banks that are safer than exchanges, and although they are less, such banks are much better than those exchanges. Although we can see that offline robberies are not happening now, but fraudsters do rob online platforms. It is certainly very sad that exchanges are not safe at all, many people lose money here. I also left some money on this exchange but did not withdraw it. The rate at which hackers are attacking both custodian and non custodian wallets, gambling platforms and several online platforms now calls for a serious security review from these platforms and users. This means that no where is safe again for anyone. Several losses running into many millions of dollars happening almost within same space of time. In as much as hackers are always very active and innovative, I'm beginning to think that some of these hackers could be part of the developers who pulled out over time.

I hope users get more careful and move their resources immediately they suspect any compromise. Now that hackers have discovered these platforms, more of such news are possibly going to continue coming until the platforms upgrade their systems to cover these loopholes.

I read somewhere that they’ve found an IP clue linked to the North Korean hackers and they’re the group suspected of this theft. These are the same group that hacked Bybit last year and stole almost $1.5B and now they’re the main suspect for this theft also, meaning this money can probably never be recovered whatsoever.

Just hope their protection fund can cover this lost and they actually pay all their customers, the SAFU funds is well above the stolen funds currently as per reports.

Self-custodial wallet is the best place to store Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, the hack that happened to Bitget yesterday is a wake up call to those who still store Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies on centralized exchanges to prioritise self-custodial wallet over centralized exchanges. Honestly, I no go work with this comparison. Yes, them don suspend withdrawals for bitget due to the hack, but them go refund every person wey e money dey there. Lol man, of course them get Wetin be warm wallet but it isn’t talked about that much because it basically design for institutions or business personnel so that why it isn’t talked about that much.

Warm wallet na cryptocurrency wallets wey dey connected to the internet just like hot wallet but e need human approval before transactions can be made or sent out. The thing just be like hot wallet connects to the internet but person no fit send funds  comot if no human approval and technically even if hacker enters the wallet it impossible to send out money without human approval either the operator of the wallet or teams (because like I said it basically design for institutions) so it more safer and secured than hot wallet.
