This is the least worries of people who are on the hospital beds gasping for their lives, and if they get lucky they will feel even more blessed to be alive, but people who are in good shape are worrying about a lifestyle they want to live.

What a life.

Based on my own opinion I don't care about what people are running after, I want to work hard and I want to live to the fullest, I am not working hard to maintain some lifestyle because it feels like a kind of punishment to me.

Why can't people just live the way they wanted? This is the only way they will ever be happy with themselves genuinely, escaped are those who don't live to maintain some lifestyle or copy other people's way of living, because yourself.

This brings up the perpetual issue between what ought to be and what actually happens. Yes, it would be easier for everyone if everyone had multiple income streams. How realistic is that? Practically not at all. For the most part, additional sources of income are achieved through additional active work rather than passive income, as is so popular to believe these days. And juggling multiple jobs leads to a fragmented focus, a loss of interest and motivation for other aspects of life, and eventual burnout.

All what you said is nothing but the truth, because I don’t understand why people always like talking about having a multiple source of income without even thinking how possible that is to some individuals. Here in my country, there are some people who work almost the whole day starting from 7am and sometimes till 6pm or later. And probably when they get home they will be very tired and just want to rest with the little hours available for them before preparing for the next day. The worst part is that these workers might have just one day off in a whole month.

So It's not always possible to expect such a person to find another job or venture into an online hustle when they have a little time to spare. No one is disputing the fact that extra source of income is not helpful, but we should also think about the time, energy and opportunities these set of people have.  The issue may not be that they don't want to make more money, but the responsibility they need to handle in a day is too much and they end up not having enough time for extra jobs.

Too much work is dangerous as well. Yeah, we can have a better life today, but our health suffers in the process. Of course, having multiple sources of income can help us live better, but this doesn't mean we have to work all day. Business people don't do that. They become rich by letting other people do some of the work. And that is a good idea.

But why doesn't this happen to most people? Because we have different mindsets.

Honestly, you can't become rich just by working hard. But working in a smart way makes it possible. What I mean is creating multiple sources of income without sacrificing your health.

We can easily comment on our lives in many ways, but in reality, not everyone's life is the same. Some of us may be working hard to fulfill our dreams, while others may be working hard to keep a smile on the faces of their families, keeping aside their own desires. Therefore, instead of judging others by their lives, we should try to understand their situation better.

Again, it is also seen that many people live beyond their means, I do not see any point in destroying peace there. There is nothing wrong with trying to achieve something good in life, but it is not right to lose the small joys of the present while chasing that achievement. The biggest thing is that it is more important to think about how much peace you have in your life than how much wealth you have accumulated.

It gets really hard to step up your life style and maybe working hard doesn't give you the comfort you need so everyone is just working hard to survive, increased income isn't enough in this economy and it's affecting everyone drastically. And the solution to change your lifestyle isn't an increased income but a multiple source of income, don't just wait around to earn the same thing or maybe a little increase in it, get multiple source of income because depending on a single salary isn't enough these days anymore.
If your current income doesn't give you the lifestyle that you so desire right now you either get more jobs to increase your income or you adapt to the lifestyle that you are currently living. The economy is bad and everyone is complaining but instead of complaining about life style alone it is better to do things that will change that particular situation if it is getting a better job or business then it will be best to do that and not just complain when nobody is coming to save you. In some countries some citizens do not have jobs some are homeless as a result of bad economy if you meet these people they just want what to eat, clothes and shelter they aren't looking for too much that's why I think people should focus on the more important things.

To improve your situation, it is important to first create a balance between your income and expectations. If you cannot maintain your desired lifestyle with your current income, then you need to consider two things looking for new opportunities to increase your income or living expenses and expectations according to your ability. Most important to take practical steps like improving own skills or finding suitable business opportunities. Problems like economic recession, lack of employment are often beyond the control of the individual. It is also not right to think that all problems can be solved only through personal efforts. We often give more importance to our desires than our needs. We try to have a similar life by seeing the improved lifestyle of others. However we do not consider our own financial capabilities. As a result even if our income increases, expectations and expenses increase. But financial comfort does not come anymore. However real success in life is not limited to just earning more money or living a luxurious life. Saving something for the future and maintaining peace of mind are equally important to be able to meet your basic needs. It is important to take effective steps instead of complaining. But it is also not wise to try to maintain a standard of living beyond one's means.

Of course, an increase in income is one sign of financial progress, but it’s not the only one, it’s just one indicator. Financial progress isn’t measured solely by an increase in income but also by how well a person manages, preserves, and grows that income. Simply put, it’s pointless for your income to increase if you can’t grow that money for example, by allocating it to a business, an investment, or other avenues that can make your money grow.

As for the issue of rising living expenses, in my opinion, this is a different matter because it simply cannot be tolerated being too frugal will only leave you hungry. Tongue

You are absolutely right. For one to improve their financial situation, it means they manage it well. That is why some people can be earning more than another person but still end up not doing well, because of mismanagement. But if one knows how important management and discipline are in their life, they will ensure they work on themselves, so that they can achieve their financial goals, because without manages their resources, they might be spending unnecessarily or making decisions that won't profit them. This is why it is good for one to learn and gain better knowledge of something, as that will help them to maintain a good and comfortable lifestyle.

Earning more money and being financially comfortable are two different situation in the present day global economy. that you are earning more than your previous salary doesn't always mean you're financially better off.

In reality, Someone can move from earning $500 to $1,000 a month and still feel like nothing really changed. the reason in most cases is that Rent also increases, food costs more, transportation gets more expensive, and suddenly that extra $500 doesn't feel like much anymore.

It begs the question, is increased income really a good measure of financial progress?

If your income keeps increasing but the things you need also keeps becoming more expensive, are you getting richer, or you're simply earning more money to maintain the same lifestyle?

I think earning more money doesn't always mean you are making financial progress. If your income increases but your expenses increase at the same time you might end up maintaining the same lifestyle instead of becoming financially better. For me real financial progress means increasing your income while also controlling your expenses and saving more money.Your income should always be higher then your expenses,it should not be same if it is your life cannot be upgraded.

You can’t always blame it on mismanagement. The problem is the more income; the more expenses. Your taste and lifestyle automatically upgrades when you start earning more and that is very normal. Things you never thought of buying will now become a priority. In situations like this, it is left for the person to look for ways to reduce or perhaps cut off the unnecessary expenses and work with a weekly/ monthly budget so he is able to save properly.

You are simply earning more money to maintain the same lifestyle and in fact you might even need to cut off some expenses you used to make and still be earning high, the issue is that the economy is really not favourable especially in this part of the world, the rate of inflation is very high and to live a normal life is looking as if you are just wasting money because the same thing you can use 500$ to buy 10 years ago are not the same thing you can get now. Why? Inflation is on the high side and it's like we are just adjusting and continuing with whatever we are doing, which is good but we can't be adjusting every time, at least we are supposed to enjoy the benefits of our sacrifices but we now have different administration with different unfulfilled promises and poverty rate continues to rise.

As people income increases that is how their expenses also increases, an increase in income doesn't mean that they will be left with enough cash to save. However , I won't say that mismanagement of funds can't result to this. Because most people do like to change their lifestyle and spend more than what they can't afford whenever their pay increases . So this is why it is important to know how to control your spending, and not to always increase expenses, because of increased  pay to avoid mismanagement of funds.

It begs the question, is increased income really a good measure of financial progress?

If your income keeps increasing but the things you need also keeps becoming more expensive, are you getting richer, or you're simply earning more money to maintain the same lifestyle?

An increased income is a sign of financial progress, but doesn't signify financial freedom. If you get an increased $500 added to your pay, it's a good thing and should be celebrated, but it doesn't mean that your income is able enough to carter for all your needs.

That's the mistake many people do. Once income increases, we increase everything that demand money, and at the end, you begin to wonder where the increment went to, because you won't feel the impact, instead you begin to run shot of finance.
You know, more money, more problems, and more increased expenses. So banking on the increased income without planning properly is the major problem. You can only say you have financial progress when you are able to save more than you used to when the increased income camw in.

If you do not invest in things that will increase in value with inflation, then you will work until the day you die to try and keep your head above water.

Warren Buffett himself has a famous quote on the subject, "If you don't find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die."

This is a very real thing.  Inflation is as undefeated as Father Time.  The earlier in life you realize this and beginning shaping your life to benefit from it, the sooner you will become financially free.

Most people do not answer OP's question because they do not measure it. Everyone tracks income. Very few people keep track of what has left on the 30th.

Economists refer to it as "new normal" and it occurs regardless of whether prices go up or down. So, for the OP part of the question it is partly inflation and partly you. Annoying, but true.

The one thing i do not agree with the standard advice on is: "just save more". It is an unusual savings strategy to save in a currency that depreciates 4 or 5 percent per year if the intention is to move forward. It is possible to be disciplined and still lose. I believe this is what really cracks people psychologically. They have done all things properly and it still does not add up.

Exactly, like you said, it's not always mismanagement. One can manage their money and still end up not having enough. Normally, that's life. The more one's income increases, the more their expenses also increase, and certainly, people will want to change their lifestyle to match their current pay, making it difficult for them to save. However, self-control is really important, as that will help them to save more and not to be carried away by the fancy things they see.

Quote
Success is not measured by how much money you earn, but by how well you balance your wealth, health, and happiness."

As they said health is wealth and we should try to live by it without becoming too greedy in a way of wanting too much, as I know wanting too much are things that puts our health in danger whereby we will be wanting to make sure everything works as we plans without knowing that we are putting our lives into stress.
We can use our money to create more businesses that would benefit us, but not by physically destroying our life by using our muscles to engage in difficult tasks out there whereas reducing our health status.

Tongue

Having a raise does not equate to being richer because what signifies richness is the amount and figure you have in your account not the amount or figures that pass through your account. You can be earning more money but the cost of your daily needs or basic needs goes up and then suddenly your own spending goes high up!! and by the end of the month your account balance is same as it was in the begining of the month. When you speak of progess the evidence of it is not necessary the amount you earn but the actual amount you get to keep.

Exactly, and even at that if you decide to change lifestyle just you can adapt to the current to your current situation or how life is treating you as long as the costs of things keep rising or the economy keeps rising and no increase in salary definitely nothing will change dont know about another person o but to me nothing will change because the more you will have to spend no matter how you try to manage and money is not something that lasts this days that you will say you want to manage yourself and safe.

You are certainly speaking realistically. In most cases, this is what should be done, if not to increase your income, then you have to adapt. But in the current economic situation, I wonder if these two solutions will be equally effective for everyone. Let's assume a person who has been working in the same job for a few years. With his salary, he was able to save for rent, food, transportation and some things, but now, even without increasing his unnecessary expenses, he is not able to save as before due to the increase in the price of essential things. If you pay attention to this, you will understand that the problem is not just his life expectancy, but the actual purchasing power has decreased.

Also, it is not easy to advise everyone to take on an additional job in all cases. Because he may already be working a job where he has to work long hours or fulfill family responsibilities. In his case, it is difficult to find time for another job.
