Actually this question is a bit weird knowing that lot of people are looking for a diverse way of earning an income, whereby they would be looking for business to do in other to sustain themselves. But one question I keep asking is that “must everyone venture into business“?

If you mean the day to day buying and selling of the stocks, no I everyone can not engage of such means of income but I think before you come up with this question, why don't you check your surroundings? I am sure around the society that there is certainly diverses means of individual survivals with some building into different carriers which may be education, skills, investment, trading/marketing, techs. Etc.

Don't forget that there are also civil servants who literally don't have ideals about business and as we have also learnt on several discussions in this platform, business involves its skills in other to set, run and manages it efficiently.
So invariably, everyone does not have to do business invests on where they can be profitable and earns their incomes.

With how bad the economy has gotten, many people prefer to be their own bosses so that anyhow it is, the profits still go to them but there's a lot that being an entrepreneur entails. When there's no proper plan or funding/support, businesses tend to hit a rock so it's a matter of looking at what you're good at and focus on it.

Business must not be handled by the particular person who has the capital. There is different kinds of business and they are operated differently depending on the commitment of others called partners. So there is partnership kind of business and others. If the owner of capital doesn't have that capacity and emotional strength, he or she can stay out of the operation of the business, stay at the background and employ a manager who will manage the business and get paid at the end of the month or as when they agree for payment. Some people who understand this deficiency in them earlier, they allow their money to work for them without being physically present all the time. They employ individuals in different capacity to use their expertise to grow the business even when they are not there. So to run a business is beautiful if you understand your weakness and strength.

Sometimes being good at something isn't enough to be successful in business, let's say someone who is a very good electrician, and he got skills and tons of experience from completing over the years. But when he want to take contracts by himself then he also need to be good at finding the workers for him, need to manage times to delivery the projects on time and good negotiators and endless of skills needed even of an electrician.

Indeed, business is not for everyone but it will be beneficial if you can train yourself to become among the few that benefits from owning a business. When retirement comes you will realise business is supposed to be a necessity.

I think the reason why most people are not interested in business is because they don't even understand business in the first place. They mostly assume you need to rent a shop, sample groceries or maybe other products in it before you can say you are into business, but in reality that's not usually the case. Sure, in some businesses it is necessary to own a shop but not for all. For example, rendering service in the form a skilled workman is also a business. Even servicing as a middle man in a trade is also a form of business if you know what you're doing, ANN/avatar designers in this forum are also business men. The moment people start realising that you must not rent a shop to be in business, the better it'll get. There are levels to these things but most people are either lazy or pessimistic to start.

Yes, you might fail in 1, 2, 3, 4 businesses but the 5th might be your breakthrough for life. Most of the big companies most skilled and knowledgeable people are desperate to work are owned by an individual or group of individuals who has failed numerous times but decided to keep pushing until they became successful. Lets just understand that success don't come easily, it comes with many failures, so if you have this mindset you will surely come out strong. And that's what distinguishes a successful business man from an unsuccessful one.

Business puts you in control and makes you independent but this doesn't mean that it is the only way to build wealth, a lot of people have this concept that they need to build a business before they can succeed, this pressure that they put on themselves is the reason why a lot of people fail when it comes to this. Not everyone must venture into business, there are other things that can be done to become successful.

I know a lot of people that had to go out of their comfort zone to start a business, they spent all they had which wasn't even enough and at the end of the day they still ended up failing. The mindset of following or copying what others are doing is what leads to this failure.

The problem isn't the kind of business, the real problem is the one creating the business, if he is prepared to take the risk or prepared to venture into something that is new to him.

Personally, I would always agree that everyone should venture into business because its the only proven way that could add significant increase of the income of a person, aside from having extra jobs that only bring limited amount of income.

Of course not. Afaik, it wasn't written anywhere that doing a business is mandatory. How you choose to survive and make a living is entirely up to you, but I guess the main reasons why people encourage others to have a business, is so that they can have a flexible source of income because you're fully in control, or to have another source of income especially when you already have a major source of income... maybe from a direct employment.

Well, let me start by saying... I have seen quite a number of people who actually did a few businesses. It's not like they were never successful, but they just kept seeing the need to move on to other things as time goes on. And as for the story you shared, well, maybe the person hasn't figured out what he/she is good at. I personally would advise them to try a direct employment and stop wasting money on something they can't sustain.

To be frank many people do think that owning a business is a right access to doing what they deserve of doing or associating.
Of course, people should be looking into the business they knows before involving themselves into any businesses out there. Entering into business is never compulsory. Let's face it, not everyone is capable and skillful enough to navigate his own business, some are just good in the beginning but eventually lose its drive and passion when bigger challenges hit them, or some have never experienced initial success, but a total failure in the end. Not everyone should go into business, which is why it is important to know what type of person you are from the onset. If, from the onset, you are the entrepreneurial kind and do not like working for someone or being under a boss, then that is your signal to go into business for yourself. But first, you have to know what type of business you are passionate about or have some experience in. After that, you can decide how to go about starting it up. But if you are the type of person who is not an entrepreneur and doesn't mind having a boss, then you have no business starting a business, because it is obviously not a path you are cut out for. People should also know that aside from starting a business, they could do consulting on the side, which makes a lot of money for many people depending on their skills and what they have to offer. I will first say that running a business is not as easy as most people think, because if you are not good at tracking your finance and expenses, you cannot run a success business, so running a business is not for everyone.

As for that your friend that keeps on jumping from one business to another, I think that what he needs is a deep reflection on where he is failing, if it's too much debt or lack of sales, or wrong environment, because all these can kill a business easily, but if he can't reflect well to know his lapses, and how to correct it, that is how he will keep on jumping from one point to another. So he just needs to figure out where he is failing, because if he cannot figure it out, then he should quit running a business, because a good business person will always be aware of himself and where he is failing.

Among all the occupations we all know that business is the only one that stand out to be free for anyone to engage on, but unfortunately we can see that a lot of people are even running away from it because it is only made for those that have mind of taking risk. Yes it is free for everybody and not everybody are willing to embark on the journey of taking risk.

Not everybody will be involved in doing business, let's just put aside who is going to patronize, but the risk that is involved is what is making a lot of people running away from it, despite some of them have access to cash but they are still running away, because they are afraid to lose everything. You've really made few points that caught my attention with the question that who'd patronize one another if everyone trades?
There wouldn't be any means of exchange in the market because, it'll be ideal that you only survives living by the exchange of goods with the other traders.

Maybe this will turn another question what essence would money is? I think if everyone really have to do this business stuff will make living difficult because it's not going to be everyone that can survive it because, it's not everyone that has the business skills and if we're too persistent to force into it can lead to a down fall while we're expecting to grow .

Here I will say that you have asked a logical question, the main thing is that business is not for everyone. But if someone has enough knowledge about business, then they should definitely try it.

Although I do not know how the business of the person you mentioned closed. But I understood one thing that his main problem is that he changed his business repeatedly. My advice to him is to continue with any one business, if he changes his business constantly, he will not be able to succeed in business. There may not be profit in a year of starting a business, so you have to be patient and survive. Also, maybe the person you know does not have business knowledge, he started a business by seeing the success of others.
