Before one gets into another business I believe one should take a straight look at what went wrong with the one that he or she was running before. Did demand fail to materialize. Financial mismanagement or lack of experience? Failing to learn from the failing business and changing it may only create the same problems once again. Plus good success isn't necessarily about having a business. Some people can establish a stable life through jobs or able to do work, others like entrepreneurship. What is essential is to select a road that suits your capabilities, resources and situation. Not a business that's all the rage.

Actually this question is a bit weird knowing that lot of people are looking for a diverse way of earning an income, whereby they would be looking for business to do in other to sustain themselves. But one question I keep asking is that “must everyone venture into business“?

The reason why I draw this question was as a result of someone I knew too well that wasn’t able to maintain the business he owned. Every two years he kept jumping from business to another yet no results to show up about becoming successful through that business.

What contribution you would you give to someone like this?
The floor is open for discussion.

Business is not for everyone, we all know that. The number of consumer are always larger than the people providing business, whether through service or goods.

As for your friend, maybe the problem is not with the business model. Maybe the problem is he himself, not being able to handle it properly. Keep trying and trying is not a bad idea, but he should keep learning as he fail.

Not everyone can work in trade. Trade requires special skills, and these are not available to everyone. Therefore, everyone should pursue work that they feel comfortable with and are proficient in.

Just because a business is profitable doesn't mean everyone should work in it. There are many other professions that people can work in and achieve success in. My advice to everyone is to work in the profession they love only, because loving the profession is what makes them achieve success in it.

We can't speak for everyone else, some people will do fine with business and others will do worse with business, the thing is you won't know how things will go until you try them out, you can start to ask yourself why things are working unexpectedly good or where things went wrong, still you won't know until you try.

I am into fashion designing and I have my own store, still I have other things doing online like running a YouTube channel for content creation, I don't see anything wrong in doing extra when it comes to trying to make enough money.

If a person starts another business because he failed in one business, he has definitely taken a foolish decision. Because what is the certainty of success in the other business? He has an idea about the business he is doing and failed in and he understands that business. If he starts again, it will not take him much time to turn around and if he is able to understand that he has faced losses due to any mistake, then he will definitely be successful.

A person who cannot learn from mistakes will definitely never be successful. Because he will keep making the same mistakes again and again and will continue to face losses. Changing the business because of losses in the business is not the right decision, but finding out what mistakes caused the losses and starting anew is the best decision.

Your fashion business is your main business line and you understand it very much better than any other business, of course you have been doing that particular business for about years now because, as a fashion designer you must start from learning how to sew before you could venture into it fully.
But there are people who may not have that patient to sew for like 4-9 months learning it, they would always need fast money from that same business without knowing that things doesn't work that way they expected. If people must venture into business they should try to make an inquiry about the business, such as going for visibility study to know how the business are being operated before venturing into that particular business. Of course, you can own as many businesses as you can but the main thing should be if you could actually handle them all or if you know the things that are involved to handle such business around you.

I say your friend must find something that he truly loves. If every business that he ventures into is failing, then there must be a deeper problem. I do not believe in bad luck, so that is not it. It must be how he handles the business or how he manages it. Some don't truly love the business that they started, or it is from a family heritage, and that could become a problem in the long term.
Others do hit two birds with one stone because they are making profits out of their business while they sincerely love what they do too. I wish your friend would find the same thing, and it will probably help him find what he truly wants.

At some point, I came across a statistic stating that only about 9% of people have an inclination and ability for business. So, running a business is not a life goal for everyone. However, the modern economy is so skewed by imbalances that very often people are simply forced to run their own small business (because there is no alternative due to unemployment). And this kind of business is more like self‑employment than a real business. It often generates profits comparable to an average salary (or even less).

There is also an important aspect in an economy dominated by the financial sector. People have been taught that everyone should be an investor. In reality, this psychological conditioning of the population began precisely with the growth of the financial sector. Because the markets need "hamsters". Otherwise, there will be no one to exploit. And not because the oligarchs and the government want everyone to be rich and happy. And even before that, everyone was taught that they should constantly take out loans and keep buying things they didn’t need.

In other words, the market economy doesn’t want you to just work in your profession for a salary. The economy wants you to spend your entire salary on paying interest on loans for consumption that you don’t need. And if you don’t have enough money, it’s because you’re not investing, or you’re investing incorrectly. In other words, in any situation, you’re the fool (figuratively speaking). It’s clear that this is just a deception of entire nations.

What happens with one doesn't necessarily happens with the others. Even I have seen such people who tends to hop from one business to other.
I have also seen people who stick to one business throughout their life and also people who have switched from job business and vice versa.
There's no one size that fits all and so when you ask whether "everyone" should venture into business ? I say no, it's not for everyone.
People should explore what suits them and then decide whether to pursue it for long term.

Business is not for everyone as a business owner myself. It requires dedication and deep knowledge on managing business in able to success since it involves a capital to operate compared to just having a regular work that only needs your manpower to earn a salary.

The reason why I draw this question was as a result of someone I knew too well that wasn’t able to maintain the business he owned. Every two years he kept jumping from business to another yet no results to show up about becoming successful through that business.

Actually, it’s hard to make a comment based on this limited information since we need his financial report on previous business and the type of business he is venturing to assess properly what’s wrong.

Just like the popular motivational quote,

“Success is built on the ashes of failure”

There’s nothing wrong on changing business if the other one doesn’t succeed. Most important is the lesson learned on the previous failed business and use it to the new business.

I can understand that person and he's a real businessman. He continues to find which business is for them. I've seen people like him that have multiple business and never stops if the ones he's established fail. It is not about jumping from one business to another, he just foresees that there's no good result in it and that's why he's taking action of doing and trying another one and maybe by that next try, it will be his. He should never stop in finding the right niche for his business because winners never give up and are willing to take further risk and never stops.

What contribution you would you give to someone like this?
The floor is open for discussion.
The person should find out what he/she is doing wrong, what made any businesses they ventured into to fail, I won’t advise a quitting mentality, why most people fail in different business they started, maybe particularly of one  habit that a businessman isn’t supposed to portray.

Your friend might be into business by recommendation, he’s being told that this business will be good and he goes into it, without the experience or likeness for the business. Before starting up a business, I expect whoever to know about the business, get some experience and exposure of the business and be certain that it is what they want to do, early mistakes and failures are like foundation, once you get past these hard periods, most businesses succeeds from there, jumping over to the next is not a solution.

I totally agreed with you because when people think about business or how they should be having an alternative means of income would keep ringing in their heart because they felt that it’s so easy to handle business to maturity.
The main thing there is to have the ability to nurture the business till it grows, but some people may not have that zeal, patient to hold on to what they have ventured into due to lack of passion, patient and ability to sustain that particular business to grow within the stipulated period which they had in mind for the business to grow. Of course, business are also determined on who is handling the business, some people have that star of running a business, some could be communication skills, and also having good relationships with your customers, all these are meant to be considered before thinking of joining a business.

The dude is just hustling and trying to make ends meet. he is not a business person but one that just wants to make money and sees business as a means through which he can easily make money. Business is not first of all the literal thing we know it to be. it is first a product of seeing that there is a gap in an area and deciding that you are going to provide solution to that problem. in so doing, you can naturally create a business out of it. another way it works is that you can be skilled at a thing and decides to create a business out of the thing you are skilled at, that way, you don't have to just from it to something else since it is an area you can actually specialize in.

Apart having a skill and seeing a problem you intend solving, sustaining a business and making it work is a completely different thing that requires a lot of effort and an act of intentionality. if you are not intentional enough, and you don't take your time to study why businesses succeeds actually succeed, especially those in your line, you might be getting things wrong while expecting the right result. there are a lot of business you are going to compete against as a start up and giving up after just two years of trial shows how much of an unserious person that you are.

Not everyone can be a boss even though everyone wants to be it. People are not universal or robots that can do anything with same success. I never wanted to own a business (well, maybe a business of a one person where I am the boss and only employee will suit me). I know what kind of person I am. I would not be able to put own interest or business over employees, nor I am a risky person. By trying to help my employees and make their life better I would lead my business to bankrupt. I am kind of person who is responsible and ready to do tasks, than give tasks and evaluate performance.

Only suggestion I can give to someone who has tried himself in running multiple businesses is to try being being an employee, not employer. Maybe that will help to understand why businesses have failed.

Running a business is an aspiration for many, as it offers numerous advantages you are your own boss answerable to no one for profits or losses free from the pressure of strict arrival times and able to take leave at your own discretion. Furthermore a business can yield higher returns than a salaried job provided it is managed correctly. However starting a business is no easy feat one must be prepared to accept lower initial earnings and possess the capability and courage to face challenges.Success also requires the skill to attract customers and ensure they leave satisfied.Only with these attributes in place can one truly decide to embark on a business venture.

Business is a good option for profit. Although everyone can start their business whenever they want, it doesn't mean that everyone can also succeed in their business. Not everyone have the capabilities, skills, and opportunities like others to be successful. But I won't stop anyone who wants to try start their own business because honestly, we'll never know if a person can succeed if they won't try.

With your friend, if he really wants to pursue having his own business, he can keep trying if he wants. Not all successful businessmen became successful in one try. Sometimes you also gotta take a fall and learn from it. A lot of business owners also experienced failing before finding the right business for them to succeed. So if you believe that having your own business is for you, then aim for it.

There are people who simply prefer working as employees, without taking extra duties and appointments businesses' owners have to take. It's not an easy task to be a business owner, as it's quite stressful and involves different roles, including to work as an employee too, therefore, it demands a lot of time from the individual.

True, some people prefer being an employee while some don't but even most people that still have the interest to start a business as another means of income, business is not suitable for them, what's very much suitable for them is being an employee. There's this my friend I met when I was running a program, she's too lazy to  do business meanwhile she has a skill in banking and making of chips but all her attempt to remain consistent in practicing her skill and making money out of it keeps failing, she has the skill but doesn't have the business idea on how to keep it going. Look at her, you would know that she's not the business minded people and even if someone offers to set up the business for her, she's going to run it down in months or a year. Like you already said, venturing into business requires a lot duties and it can be so stressful, especially when the person just started and still growing the business.

Business is not for everyone but those who want to find a stable source of income can try business. However, the economic situation and job situation in the country is so bad that now our educated unemployed people should pay attention to small businesses. Since the government of my country is failing to provide jobs, such a large number of youth who are roaming around unemployed should not give priority to jobs as a source of income at this time. In this case, they should definitely give importance to business management and adapt themselves to business and adjust it to themselves without becoming unemployed even if it is a small business.

At least you try and see if it's going to work or not. We all know that people get rich not from getting a job. Even a high paying job. But becoming a entrepreneurship as it's a way to sell something to others that they needed thus going to make you a lot of money and be rich someday.

So it's better to go and venture, and we have also heard stories of successful people that failed initially, but they didn't give up and continue to pursue and have that burning desire inside of them to be the best version of themselves.
