It's a natural progression. The industry grew and prospered during favorable times. But the industry has apparently entered its final, exponential phase, where competition has become very fierce. The market simply doesn't need so many land-based casinos. Land-based casinos certainly have certain advantages over online ones, but these advantages are vanishingly small. Although for those living nearby, it was probably convenient. I think many online casinos will also close. The gambling craze will cool somewhat, and many will move on to other gambling areas.

One thing about managing a business is that you need to go along with the flow and evolve as others are doing, because without that , it's near impossible to stay in business.

Online casino is gradually taking dominance from land based casino, since they are cheaper to manage than land based casino that most times have unnecessary expenses to pay, and truly online casino will also close down, but before an online casino closes, just know that five land based casino has already shutdown before then, but competition has made it very difficult for those that are not skilled in business to continue, and so i wouldn't be surprised if more land based casino shut down in the future.

I think the online casinos which would close are those with limited funding and somehow goes bankrupt or in this advent of hacking platforms and a lot of their funds were stolen by black hats which made them declare bankruptcy. As long as they've the required funding and didn't do shady things that ruin their reputation, they'll be in need for much longer. Most online casinos with shady past who should've folded ended up rebranding, a good example is Jack.com, maybe we'll see more rebranding or even merging than a total shutdown of many online casinos like you've predicted.

I have always wanted to ask what will happend when a casino goes bankrupt without them getting hacked or scammed? Because my thoughts was that anyone can run a online casino even when they are not so profitable, it's not like they will be running on money everyday to stay alive, a running online casino takes nothing much to keep running, so even if it's not profitable yet it could in the future, I feel like offline casinos are more costly to run than online casinos.

I have found in wikipedia that in Washington there are 30 casinos and 23 card rooms. For a population of 8 millions, dont you think it will still be enough casinos to play, considering online gambling market is growing rapidly. I dont think that people who were casino owners will leave that business and wont rebrand into online casinos.

Exactly what I was thinking, maybe all those casinos close down because online casino just seem to be a better option and also the existence of prediction markets can affect offline casinos too.

I think the rest will still survive but once they noticed that their visitors are decreasing in numbers they can also decide to close down later because online casino might just be a better option than local casinos.

Running a Casino is no small feat. And with the emergence of online casinos I guess many people no longer see the need for physical casino hence the bankruptcy. While the casinos staffs and shareholders people may be affected, I don't think it will really be a problem for players. I believe one major business strategy now for all kinds of business run is to be on the internet. I don't know if its lack of planning or just lack of funds, I believe that these casinos could have gone online following the trends of o line Casio o. People will actually patronized them been that they have lol physical places and some reputation locally.

I think they were talking specifically about casino employees here, not the gambers.  So In my opinion when a casino like that shuts down, it can definitely become a serious problem for a lot of families.
As for the gamblers, I completely agree with you here. Looking at a casino as a regular source of income is a very dangerous approach.
At the same time, the growth of online gambling has definitely changed the industry a lot. Online casinos have much lower costs for staff and infrastructure, they operate 24/7, and they can be accessed from almost anywhere.
I think the 24/7 nature of the online gambling is probably one of the biggest changes we’ve seen so far as far as the industry is concerned because now, gambling is no longer limited by location, boarders or even opening hours. While this could be potentially useful, it also makes it very easy for people to continue gambling without a natural stopping point. So while online casinos may somehow reduce some operating costs, they can also make self control much more important too for the gambler.

Nowadays, online casinos are attracting more and more people, due to which the use of physical casinos is decreasing day by day, as a result, physical casinos are facing losses, as a result of which they are forced to close the casinos at some point, by doing this, all the people who have been operating the casinos will be affected. It is true that gamblers will not have to face much problem, I think that by gambling in online casinos, they will feel more comfortable than before because they will not need to go to a specific place to gamble, they will be able to gamble whenever they want, as they want.

We need to ask people who gamble regularly offline and dont do that in cult places as Las Vegas about how full casinos are these days. Because I dont think there are as many customers there today, as they were when they were opened. For example I have checked couple of casinos from the list and in google found that they were founded 1999-2010. Here is the picture of one of the casinos:

Looks quite old, small and not popular. I think that those 8 casinos are just old and unpopular. No wonder they got closed.

They probably even have online casinos running now, and probably funding those land-based casinos while they are struggling to earn until they realize that they cannot survive anymore. In business there's really no such thing as permanent, a business booming now is not guaranteed it will still be in the future. with the rapid changes in the industry now, there are industries that will really become obsolete so its just right to prepare for that and adjust, and I believe the adjustment they made is having an online casino, but probably in another location since online casino is prohibited there.

This will continue, some casinos have closed but the place of some casinos will be occupied by other casinos in the market. Currently, we see quite popular and big casino sites and a lot of people gamble on those casino sites and they are trusted, so those casinos can retain the place of the previous casinos. There is no guarantee that no new casinos will close in the future, they will close in the future and those places will be occupied in the future as well, but these casino activities will continue.
However, I feel one more thing, those that have closed can come back stronger in a new way.

From this report https://x.com/SEATTLESUBMISS/status/2106130425328660835 8 casino in the Washington area are about to close up next month ending, not really a good story for casino lovers in the Washington area.

The eight casino's that would be affected where listed in the report so you could check to see if your favorite casino(s) as the case may be was or were affected by this.
Several reasons for the permanent close up of these casino were cited.

This is going to take away the fun gamers get from those casinos and also jobs of workers of these casinos.
I'm pretty sure there won't be any problems for the gamblers because they can always find alternative sources for their activities, especially with online gambling platforms covering most part of the industry, they shouldn't have a problem throwing a few dollars away every day. However, closure of so many casinos will surely make all their employees and workers jobless, and then they will have to struggle to find some place to work at, because it's probably not easy to find a lot of open spots in casinos for casino workers since there must be a lot of competition because many people would want to be working in a casino for the fun they can have there.

I know, some might argue that it's not easy for people who gamble in physical casinos to switch to online platforms all of a sudden, which is true, but we humans tend to adapt to things very quickly, and the rise of online gambling is the proof for that. Before the pandemic during Covid-19, online gaming or gambling wasn't as popular, but when everything was closed down and people weren't allowed to go out that much, that's when people started looking for alternative ways to continue their activities, and online gambling platforms quickly became a favourite for so many gamblers around the world. So, gamblers can always manage, I believe.

For casino operational costs, we can certainly see that physical casinos have higher operational expenses. However, market competition will greatly determine whether a physical casino can survive or go bankrupt. Regulations that may change can also cause a casino to close, either by relocating to another area or by shutting down the business permanently. The casino business is very profitable, but the challenges from market competition are also significant.

This is a serious blow to both the entertainment industry and jobs. Remember that casinos employ dozens, sometimes hundreds, of staff in various positions, from croupiers to security guards. This also includes cleaners, waiters, and so on. According to average estimates, 850 people will be laid off as a result of this liquidation.
The owner is bankrupt due to fierce competition and increased operating costs. But I want to look for the positive, and perhaps now that brick-and-mortar casinos are becoming more widespread, some gamblers will give up gambling and find another hobby. Perhaps this saves some families.

well, the most difficult part of being a physical casino is how they balance their operation costs and being competitive in the market right now. Every casinos can make a lot of money but they also need to think how they will cover their costs like the employees, maintenance, security, utilities and regulations. This has made it more crucial for physical casinos to continually refine their customer experience and make their business more memorable to their visitors. in the long run, being adaptable to any changes is very important. A casino that can control its expenses, adapt to regulatory modifications and know about its customers needs will have a way farbetter opportunity of being profitable as well as sustainable.

Gamblers are likely to be self controlled when they are gambling on a physical casino than when doing it online.
There is no control of what you are doing online because you can be in a closed room and get things done without anyone knowing about it. Those that are using a real physical casino can get restricted when the casino security noticed that a gambler have been coming too frequently to their casino which can be a sign of addiction. Addicted gamblers can make it hard for a casino to make money if their gambling behavior is becoming hazardous to the extend of causing panic and violence to other players using the casino.

Yeah, these days it’s pretty hard for any major gambling business to survive without an online presence. But you can’t just take any land-based casino and move it online overnight. There are licenses, payment systems, software, game providers, KYC/AML requirement and of course pretty big marketing budget. On top of that, competition between online casinos is already huge.
But I don’t think online casino will completely replace land based ones. People go to physical casino not just to gamble, but also for the atmosphere, social interaction, restaurant and entertainment.

That can be one of the reasons why they have closed. As for the closure, we'll never know unless these casinos will have a full disclosure of the reason. But we can only guess and that's one of it, but I don't think that due to its age while they'll be closing down is the main factor. Too many competitions already are there I think and mainly is about the online casinos where it gives more comfort to the customers.

These are land-based casinos, online casinos surely the reason they loss clients.

And 850 jobs at risk, this is a big loss for the industry.
Seems this is just the beginning, more and more land-based casinos will eventually file bankruptcy in the future.

Online gambling industry is killing them.

This is really a bad news for this casino sites, and also the number of workers that has lost their jobs as a result of these casinos shutting down. Many casinos now are operating online, and land casinos are going obsolete. Online casinos are growing very fast, and privacy is the major reason why many people are embracing online casinos because they can place bet in their own comfort zone without the need to go to the shop. Also, when you make wins in the online casino, you can withdraw your money without anybody knowing, I have seen people who won big in land casinos, and exposed themselves to threat because everyone knows they have won big, but online betting has kept gamblers private, and the main reason why many people are switching to it.

It's too expensive to maintain a physical casino running when you are competing directly against online casinos which cut expenses on every possible ways. It's much more profitable to migrate from physical to virtual concept of business, so that could be one of the reasons why these casinos are going to shut down their operations. Maybe their operators are just going to migrate to the virtual scene, and not necessarily leave gambling industry at all.

On the other hand, the employees will inevitably have to find another job to replace this one, because the number of employees a virtual casino demands is much lower compared to a physical one.
