Well,  how time flies; it feels like just yesterday. Bitcoin’s all-time highs are always exciting, as is the unique experience each user goes through during them. It really highlights why patience with Bitcoin is so crucial; a full year has already passed since that last milestone.

I’ve found a source that gathers interesting information regarding that October 6th date, as well as other significant price points in Bitcoin’s history. These always give us insight into its price evolution and the halving cycles.

when might we see a return to that all-time high?

I see the decline in this bearish season, which seems to recover quite fast, compared to the previous bearish seasons I think Bitcoin could reach the next new ATH faster. Perhaps we don’t need to wait for the 4 year cycle after halving as Bitcoin’s price volatility has already seen significant changes. Bitcoin could break above the last ATH all of a sudden. No one knows really, but it might not be very long.

long-term holders who began selling off their Bitcoin also played a role. in your opinion, what factors drove the drop in Bitcoin's price back then and when might we see a return to that all-time high?
If we start to trace things back to the different things that has led to bitcoin not getting to where it ought to be, or going back to the last ATH or even going above it, it will not help us in any wat as present day investor. rather than that, it is better to make plans on how to take advantage of the current DIP so when there is a full recovery that takes us above the last ATH and takes us into a new price, we can benefit fully from the prospective bull.

As someone that saw bitcoin breaking several all time high before the last one, one thing is that when bitcoin finally breaks that high, it might come in a time when investors will least expect and what will come you mind will be like, now that bitcoin has broken this all time high, what next?

"there's no 4 years cycle" and "this time it's different", the market went pretty much by the same cycle over and over again (with ever rising numbers).

I think its there and block reward change matters but its surely a declining influence by now.   Greater factors exist as to how supply and demand varies and that must be by design I think.  Obviously BTC progressed alot over time, we aint in Kansas no more Tongue

BTC doesn't follow the year's months imo, the 4 year cycle would be superior to that time scale.  I reckon the entirety of 2026 is required to disperse the negative outflow in the beginning of the year.
Its consolidated and turned around but I wouldn't guess on a new ATH just yet and not as an anniversary, nobody is watching that.

Saying that when BTC does ignite it'll be far more obvious in threatening that new high at least in energy, it will happen in less time then expected once that level of positive action does begin.  I just don't think that's now or in sight especially.

We aint in Kansas no more? LOL! Already "this time it's different" Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Businesses and traders may have become more mature. Institutional investors are here and against my expectations MSTR didn't panic sell in crypto winter.
But some say it business cycles, some say that this or that act(ed) as triggers for certain pumps or maybe dumps, but in grand generic lines, the market still looks... as usual.

You said that halving matters less and less. It's correct... on paper. Miners don't get cheaper (and the prices of chips and memories don't help), energy is a big issue (except few lucky ones who bought solar)... the difficulty goes up and then up again. So... does the haling effect decreasing? Are you sure?

I don't say that markets are nice and forgiving. Uptober chart is already red. People should play on markets carefully. But I'm confident that the overall trend upwards - started in mid-August - will resume.

unfortunately, that price level did not hold for long due to a number of factors, including macroeconomic ones. notable among these were the tensions between the US and Iran which had already emerged by then and escalated into open conflict in February, as well as Trump’s "tariff madness," which disrupted global trade. long-term holders who began selling off their Bitcoin also played a role. in your opinion, what factors drove the drop in Bitcoin's price back then and when might we see a return to that all-time high?
The Bitcoin market does not always run consistently. There is always a game in the market with investors sentiment. It is now very difficult to predict when the price of Bitcoin will increase and when it will continue to decrease. At the time when we think that the price of Bitcoin will increase, its price is decreasing, and when there was a high possibility of increasing, its price has decreased.

Usually, when there is instability worldwide, it is difficult for people to think about investment-related issues. Especially when that instability prevails throughout the world. When the war between America and Iran started, a bad situation arose in the whole world around that war. At that time, the price of Bitcoin continued to decrease. However, those who were prudent took risks and continued to buy at that time. Even though the price of Bitcoin decreased at that time, we see differences in some cases. Even though the whole world was in turmoil during Covid-19, the price of Bitcoin increased. Again, the price of Bitcoin increases even when there is a risk of global inflation. It is difficult to say anything specific in the case of Bitcoin.

Anything that has to do with all time high for bitcoin should be expected over the next halving, which is stipulated to take place around 2028, there will be bullrun to follow this occasion and bitcoin is going to make all time high ahead the previous one, we all know that there are bearish and bullish season whereby the market tend to perform based on the demand and supply as there is more of buying and selling within bitcoin network.

in your opinion, what factors drove the drop in Bitcoin's price back then and when might we see a return to that all-time high?

For me nothing is special about the price of Bitcoin falling and rising if not for demand and supply. Yes US and Iran may affect price when there is an attack but I see that as temporary and not a permanent factor that will see bitcoin dropping. The ATH is next season of halving because bitcoin is traditionally creating new ATH at every halving especially during the second quarter after it. There is no ATH this year until we have crossed into the halving which has been normal since I have started following the price of bitcoin.

one year ago on October 6, 2025 Bitcoin set its all-time high of $126 198.07 as Coinmarketcap shows: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/

unfortunately, that price level did not hold for long due to a number of factors, including macroeconomic ones. notable among these were the tensions between the US and Iran which had already emerged by then and escalated into open conflict in February, as well as Trump’s "tariff madness," which disrupted global trade. long-term holders who began selling off their Bitcoin also played a role. in your opinion, what factors drove the drop in Bitcoin's price back then and when might we see a return to that all-time high?

Bitcoin is a volatile asset, and also operates on two seasons, the bear market, and the bull market. 2025 was recorded as another bull season making Bitcoin to reach all time high of $126k by November 2025. Historically the price of Bitcoin is expected to drop after every bull market, and during this time, investors take profit which in a way causes Bitcoin price to go down in price. Other factors can equally affect Bitcoin price such as war. There is a strong evidence that Bitcoin will go back to it's all time high, and even surpass that price on the long run. Bitcoin price can be very unpredictable, but many predictors are anticipating 2029-2030 to surpass 2025 all time high.
From the onset, no decision has been able to hinder the grow of Bitcoin on the long, be it war or even government policies, so there is every assurance that when you invest in Bitcoin, and attach patience, you will definitely get good reward.

Other factors can equally affect Bitcoin price such as war. There is a strong evidence that Bitcoin will go back to it's all time high, and even surpass that price on the long run.

I also tend to favor the perspective on bullish and bearish market theories as they apply to Bitcoin, to this day i still believe in them. We can see this in the charts, all the data is available for analysis, especially since at that time there was so much bad news circulating, particularly regarding Donald Trump actions. While he’s usually only preoccupied with trade wars, he’s now also begun deploying military forces. This has sparked fear among investors, leading to selling pressure that caused prices to drop significantly.

Generally, in every cycle, Bitcoin price is bound to rise, no matter how much FUD or bad news there is. The reality is that nothing can stop Bitcoin from reaching even higher prices, surpassing its previous ATH. As for the next cycle in 2029–2030, i’m personally quite confident, which is why i want to take full advantage of this correction to maximize my purchases for long term savings.

Bitcoin have done that movement on a couple of time whenever Bitcoin market a new al time high the price always retract back most time within few hours of the new all time high you see Bitcoin price declining up to 30% negative or even more.
When such corrections happens it may go far down, like within the last Bitcoin all time high as mark in the image above, we saw that Bitcoin price have declined down more that 50% before the correction gradually is happening which still has a long way to go to meet the last all time high.

It means that regardless of any driving factor for it to drop so much from the ATH, it's due to the 4-year cycle.

People still don't get it and must be new to the market when they've seen the ATH and surprised that after a couple of months up to a year, it's dropped from there.

But let's take this bear market of 2026 as a good one and that is because it's not as painful and deep compared to the past bear markets we've been through.

A milder bear market is not necessarily a good thing.

It could mean Bitcoin's volatility is cooling off, and next bullrun might not be as strong as previous cycles. It also means fewer chances to scoop up BTC at bargain prices, so longterm accumulator might miss out on those deep discount.

Everything cuts both ways and shallow bear is no exception.

Still a good thing though no matter what, as the price of Bitcoin is getting higher every cycle, so that could be the reason why every bear market is going to be shallow. But in any case if that is the case then why not just go and buy it?

Even if the volatility is cooling off, maybe we can still make a lot of money from the market. And it could also mean that we are maturing and that could be a good sign as well that we are getting closer in adoption globally.

Volatility cooling off or not, but gain is going the opposite direction of valuation, the diminishing of market cap growth is long to be expected. I'd take milder bear market anyday over massive bear market and potentially seeing higher volatility (it's not guaranteed). By the way I think there is no correlation between volatility cooling off with milder bear market because we haven't seen how bull market this time around is going to be, the bull market could be as great as before and the mild bear market could be a sign that demand is still there despite the bearish season.
