I think the US-China trade tensions and the threat of new tariffs in October 2025 created panic in the market and after Trump announced 100% additional tariffs on China, there was a huge sell-off and liquidation in the crypto market, which then fell by 40% to 50% from the peak price in a very short time. Another reason is that when Bitcoin set a new record, some old investors sold to secure their profits, so when a large amount was sold at the same time, a kind of fear and suspicion was created in the minds of new buyers and most investors started selling when the price dropped rapidly. And that is how the situation was created.
But now, for Bitcoin to reach a new ATH again, big investors will have to continue buying together. There is no specific time for this to happen.

one year ago on October 6, 2025 Bitcoin set its all-time high of $126 198.07 as Coinmarketcap shows: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/unfortunately, that price level did not hold for long due to a number of factors, including macroeconomic ones. notable among these were the tensions between the US and Iran which had already emerged by then and escalated into open conflict in February, as well as Trump’s "tariff madness," which disrupted global trade. long-term holders who began selling off their Bitcoin also played a role. in your opinion, what factors drove the drop in Bitcoin's price back then and when might we see a return to that all-time high? You have mentioned quite a number of factors that truly did affected the price as at that time, in as much as Bitcoin is decentralized and has got some level of independence, it is not completely independent of the global economic, it affects it in a way or the other and that is why whenever there's economic unrest, we see some price fluctuations with Bitcoin, investors reacts to these economic situations and in turn it affects their behaviours which subsequently affects the dynamics of Bitcoin because their collective investments impacts the valuation and pricing of Bitcoin in a way. Another factor responsible for that which we witnessed at the time was the Bitcoin cycle. As a Bitcoin enthusiast, I want to believe you understand the Bitcoin cycle and various activities that takes place at certain points in the cycle, attaining new ATH is one characteristic we have seen common with Bitcoin at the Bull part of the cycle, and it was noted that as at the time we saw that Price surge, Bitcoin was at the Bull run phase which also has been known to be one of the short phases of the cycle, most times, the Bear has lasted longer than the Bull, then followed by the Halving and then the Bull. So we are in anticipation of another Bull run wherein we get to experience another ATH probably far above the most recent.

It doesn't always have to be about the US tariffs or some Trump bullshit. It's normal for the Bitcoin price to correct after achieving an all-time high, like it has always happened in the past too. I also think people are in so much a rush expecting a new all-time high to happen very soon, but I think it's going to take a good number of months or even a couple of years before the accumulation phase is complete.

The expectations of bitcoin reaching an All Time High in the soonest has been discussed over again. But some people usually forget that bitcoin always pass through a process and pattern before reaching another stage in its cycle. This is not the time to be discussing another all time high when bitcoin just got off the bull season and now experiencing the bear markets. I am not expecting a new all time high now because the market is far from that, it will have to pass some stages before the discussion of a new all time high will be necessitated to be talked about more.

You've got a point, the market might just be recovering and recently moving away from the bear season but that doesn't mean it's not possible for Bitcoin to transition form bear season to setting a new ATH not long after. It has done it in the past and so it can still happen again. Bitcoin might need some time to recover but that doesn't mean it can't move to a new ATH. One thing I have in mind about Bitcoin is never underestimating it. It can never be fully predicted in terms of how it moves. I am expecting everything with Bitcoin at anytime.

But hard to believe that they can able to do that now that Bitcoin became a mature asset.
Look for the actions done by Strategy, their buy and sales announcement didn't affect much on Bitcoin even if their made big purchases or done manipulative acts by selling their coins.
Also those patters you have said seems hard to look at, because market may move different direction and maybe everything will base depends on situation happening in the world.
Yes, what's happening in the world directly influences BTC. We have to keep watching its behavior to try to predict what might happen, but to stay calm we should accumulate. The best time for us is to take advantage of the fact that the BTC price is high, impossible for many to buy, but it is possible to buy with little money and gradually develop the most convenient accumulation method. I use the DCA method, and I recommend it. The ATH will be repeated and it will be much higher because history has shown it and will continue to show it, that's why we have to prepare to wait for that sweet moment that we don't know when it will happen.

It won't be long, maybe in the next year, because the current market movement is different from the previous 4-year cycle, in this season it seems like bitcoin is changing its trend, I expect bitcoin to create history and a new ATH in the next year, it's time to buy slowly, I don't want to miss opportunities continuously

If you are really a long term holder, I see no reason why you should sell just because their is a dip in the market. No matter how low bitcoin price goes, real holders are not going to sell, they going to keep on holding. I don’t really know anything that can drive bitcoin price to the previous all time high, but I know with time, bitcoin price is going to bounce back. Any little news bitcoin might end up bouncing back, and creating a new all time high. Also you should know that nobody knows when bitcoin price is going to return to all time high, nobody knows the price which bitcoin is going to be within a specific period of time.

Not only that, we have what we call cycles, so it's not like in stocks that maybe in every year there will be a new all time high. In Bitcoin market, it usually happens in 4 years, so in this case, we could be just look at 2028-2029 before we can see a new all time high. I know it is still a very long time before we can see it. But that is the beauty of Bitcoin, you will have time to recover and accumulate as much Bitcoin as you can and be ready for the next bull run. So for others, we still have a lot of time to do that even next year. It's a slow process, and delayed gratification, but it's all worth of it during the bull run when you see your portfolio growing.

I totally agree with your sentiment bro. Once the value of Bitcoin diminish or the price crash very hard, people tend to push the blame on the US government policies, without considering that the bear market will always come once the bull season is over, and I think that Trump's policies is always being tag as the cause of it, even though it' may be not. The last bear run that kickoff in 2022, they push all the blame on the Russia vs Ukraine war, so I believe that their will always be something people will put the blame on, forgetting that the bear season must come even though trump starts making favourable policies towards crypto.

There could be some effect but for sure it's not going to last as Bitcoin market is independent all throughout. That's why when we had the bull run, we come up with all the idea on what cause it. But we all know that since the supply is getting thinner, everyone wanted a piece of it that's why the price skyrocket. And so even if the last time high is last year, it doesn't mean we can't repeat it. Might take some time though as we need to wait for the schedule halving. As this is the one that fuel as the cycle repeats, supply is dwindling while demand is up.

It's certain that bitcoin will increase more next year or maybe get a new all time high but we can not be sure of the price at a time too it might not also get to a new all time high but i believe that in years to come BTC is going to reach several ATH, what is important now is how consistent people are buying bitcoin because there will be much potentials in BTC in time coming so any one who misses of the opportunity of buying bitcoin now might not be happy with them self, an asset such as bitcoin isn't what people should over look.

unfortunately, that price level did not hold for long due to a number of factors <snip> Peak prices do not hold out for long in all of the previous cycles. In this case we stayed above 120k for ~5 days. In spite of the conflict and tariffs at the time bitcoin rose that high in value, that would not be a reason it cannot stay up there. in your opinion, what factors drove the drop in Bitcoin's price back then and when might we see a return to that all-time high?
Natural factors of demand and supply. After a peak, the price corrects to a stable range. That is true and Bitcoin never hold it peak for long, because there were a lot factor that was determining the market. Although we can also that there were lot of sell orders especially those who bought below the ATH, they would want to take quick profits from the market. After which, we may likely experience the market drops lower than expected due the demand and supply as you already said. Haven that, most time we also look at those who trading, some could be news that may likely drive the market go higher above expected.

To be honest, it does play a big part as well on the size of the movement, not the direction of the movement. Meaning that yes, every time there is a halving, the following year is a bull year, and after bull year we have bear year. That won't change, and whatever USA does, that will keep things as it is. But you also need to remember, 70%+ drop and 50% drop are not the same. And USA vs Iran war had a huge play in how much we fell this year. Normally, in a bear year, we fall a lot more; check historical patterns of the bear years, and you will see that we had 75%+ falls every single bear year. This time we did not fall that low, why? Because the USA went into war with Iran when nobody expected them to do such a thing. That caused oil prices to skyrocket; they caused inflation, and that meant bitcoin was more valued just because dollar was less valued.

Sometimes bitcoin next big market move can come from such news like tariff and political events, but yeah bitcoin have it own way of making market moves or all time highs we should know that already. We are very certain that bitcoin could make another all time high any moment from now if price movement is all about positive news and government friendly regulations, which we have seen with ETFs and some government reserve discussions. Overall we still can only speculate and wait for Bitcoin to take the actual bull direction when demand becomes extremely high.

Although there were a lot of too many expectations on where Bitcoin would have reached, some were saying 150k, 200k, and some 250k, whereas some said 300k-500k, but none of these prices did we see come through. Bitcoin was approaching its bear market cycle, which normally happens a year after the bull run. We should have happened in 2026, but Bitcoin caught people short in October of 2025 with the price falling after we reached $126k. With all these economic events and the US, Iran, and Israeli war, the price never returned since that date.
Now when are we to see a new ATH? Normally it's after Bitcoin halving, but the previous market saw ATH before the halving, and looking at the performance of Bitcoin today, it's most likely we're going to also see another ATH before another halving in my opinion.

Personally I think we overrated Trump's administration on the price of Bitcoin, because the Iran and Us boiling conflicts has cool down but Bitcoin haven't yet jumped back to it previous all time high. Yes there is some influence from that angle but it is not as strong as we thought at that time.
When next we would see another all time high is still based on several factors as you have already admitted. When the factors plays their part we would then have a new all time high, we can only stay positive that is could still be possible this year.
The influence was as strong as we all thought it was. The war affected the Bitcoin price as well as the price of the stock market. Including tradable commodities. Trump did remarkably well with regard to Bitcoin during the first two months he was elected President. Did you forget about that? Trump first influenced Bitcoin's price when he was brought into seat.

A good point to watch for a new high would be the inverse of dollar strength so the DXY measure is ok as some large indicator to opposing strength to BTC and markets generally. I'm seeing peaks for DXY in June and July just about where we are now, we are not below those peaks yet and so must suppose we're in a support area for Dollar possibly and inversely BTC can sell or experience weakness from this point.
I was thinking Dollar had seen the best of its recent rally but that's just a guess or scenario I'm weighing up. We have to wait for the market to confirm an outflow of dollar or bearish trend back into the market of assets including BTC. I still wouldn't think BTC regains full speed ahead and finds a new ATH all before January.

That's the question that many of us want to know but cannot find an answer to anywhere. It's just time that will tell when a new ATH will happen or when its value will drop again.
I am optimistic about Bitcoin not going down under $60k again, but not really expecting it to reach a new all-time high anytime soon. There's nothing big happening with it, unlike when the ETF happened. What we can only expect is the halving making a positive impact on Bitcoin. But before that, I have a speculation that it will drop significantly because many would want to sell before the big wave comes. So, we will have to wait until the halving is near. Maybe 3 months before it.

Right now everyone is making their predictions related to the price of Bitcoin, but I think it might not be necessary to wait until the next halving to see a new ATH. A decline could happen before the halving, but before all that, I think there is a chance that the price of Bitcoin will rise first. The market is always unpredictable, as are the patterns we assume will continue to repeat.
