~Just because a door is open doesn’t mean you go inside and steal something.
Using Ai can be an easy way for the casinos to detect hackers and it would save them the stress of hiring cyber security experts but using such security protocol is going to cost a lot more than hiring professionals but it is the most effective. And like you said Ai can Also help to make it easier to track down hackers, I believe that in few years time a lot of casinos are going to start making use of this, the system is not going to automatically perfect but it is actually going to be a lot better.

I believe, many casinos are using it already and most of the others will join, not in the next few years, but within a year. I'm wondering why you said, "Using such a security protocol is going to cost a lot more than hiring professionals." I really doubt that. I think using AI isn't that expensive for an established company today, and it's going to become even cheaper.

The problem is not about using AI. Even attackers have access to, and use the best AI tools. So using AI is not the end game to fix all security problem. What they need is an internal security team whose only job is to ensure that everything that has to do with the casino whether onchain or off-chain is covered.

At end of the day no system is hack-proof but they can make it harder or extremely difficult to attack with a dedicated team. There has to be q balance between security and marketing.
Ai can be a more efficient way to detect these attacks on the system but due to some factors a lot of casinos avoid using it. If we are to compare the use of Ai and security team AI is actually going to get the Job done more effectively. But even without the use of Ai proper security measures can be taken, no system is Jack proof but the rate at which the system is breached can be limited.
AI is like a two edged sword, it works for the good or bad, it obeys the commands of who is controlling it so I also believe that it is not an end game to totally put a stop to hacks, these hackers are highly intelligent tech guys so you should expect them to know what the tech teams of every casinos would know. I think the best bet for online casinos to avoid being victims of these hackers is to be detecting any potential breach before hackers would detect them first and penetrate through vulnerable loopholes to hack and steal their funds.

Casinos, exchanges and other platforms that are targeted by hackers are like house owners versus buglers, if you are not ahead of the criminals by having strong security systems the criminals would bypass your weak security and steal from you.

I think the part he was looking at with his “costs more” argument could be setup itself and not the running cost, and if you really check it, there may be some little truth in that. Integrating AI with old systems, getting the necessary regulator approvals and also having people around to review the false alarms also adds up to the whole costs, so you basically need to fully replace the professionals, all you need is just a fewer of them.  Not saying it’s too expensive to afford, but just about enough for some establishments to give it a double thought, and yeah it could get cheaper in the future.

I think the fact that hacked casinos are increasing is obviously connected to AI. Anyone with half a brain can create a very capable hacker AI agent that does the hacking for him/her. The amount of "hackers" or at least "hack attempters" has gone up exponentially.
And casino that were coded before AI are also very vulnerable. Human error in the code can be sniffed out easily by AI.
I hope Gamdom catches the so-called hackers sooner or later and gets their money back.
Yeah, as for Gamdom, I think it's much more important to figure out how hackers managed to steal $3 million in first place. Casino deals with cryptocurrency and should know perfectly well what attractive target it is for hacker. So these kind of risk should be taken into account beforehand, not just after the money has already been stolen.

And I wouldn't count too much on Gamdom being able to track down hacker and recover stolen funds. We've already seen plenty of time in crypto industry just how difficult it can be to trace and recover stolen coin. Of course, it's possible but I wouldn't get my hopes up too much.

Hackers are now moving differently and it seems that this is going to be a constant occurrence if the casinos don't find a way to put a stop to this attacks. Gamdom didn't lose a lot of money, fortunately for them because they were able to transfer their assets quickly from a hot wallet to a cold wallet, they were able to spot this on time and avoid the situation of losing a lot of money. Compared to what other casinos have lost the amount of money is quite little but losing such isn't easy.

These days casino really need to upgrade their security level if they want to avoid being hacked.
The high level of hack going on right now is because of AI and it be like this however, what casinos needs to do right now is to also top up their security with AI and make sure that they don’t get exposed easily.

And again, one of the things I have discovered is that all this hack that is happening on casinos might be an insider in the casino that’s giving information to this hackers, so they should always make sure that there staff cannot give a vital information to hackers that can affect them.

Yes, they are actually very lucky to have moved there funds early.

It's will be a little hard to totally stop this hackers they are also taking there time to learn and build hacking software by themselves and thats why ones the target any site whose security is not tight enough, they imidiately strike. They might also have clicks that imforms them about some of the site to work on before the attack takes place. I really fill for site and all those whose funds where stolen as a result of the hack. Security measures needs to be done to avoid such senero from happening again.

it seems these hacks are becoming regular now, not too long ago we heard about two casinos that hot hacked all because they weren't really careful enough to secure their system. it is quite surprising that these hacks or breach are mostly with reputable casinos that have been in business for a while, gamblers expect that they would be able to secure their funds and informations. Gamdom didn't really lose a lot of money compared to these casinos and that's fortunate for them. $3m is a big deal but still low compared to what the other casinos lost.

but I assume that risk managers at these companies earn their keep for a reason they likely warned management about this long ago. The real question is how management responded if they didn’t take the situation seriously, then they are at greater risk than other gambling platforms. I suspect we’ll be hearing more about this in the future.
Or some of those errors get undetected by the risk managers, because I don't get why a platform that involves money movement will risk not taking any security warning seriously when they know what such a danger poses, and I think it's high time (that's if they are not already doing it) that platforms will also deploy AI assistant to be cross-examining codes from time to time for any possible vulnerability.

And I just saw this news:

https://x.com/BitcoinNews/status/2115105423929872731

So the group that hacked them, known as cyber-extortion group Whitearmor, said that they have 15 million customers data with them and they are demanding a huge $15 million from Gandom.

Gandom though disputed that big database, but still the criminals might have gotten their customers database.

I don’t know why people are saying the amount is not that big, for me $3million is a big amount even though it’s not up other hacks. It was a good thing that the casino catch the attack early, but that's not enough. They need to have good security measures put in place beforehand or this thing could happen in the future. As you mentioned, it's not just a casino issue, but for anyone who stores money online, security is a thing of importance.

Weak security is easy to bypass, if a casino has failed to account for certain safeguards, malicious actors can exploit these vulnerabilities to steal funds. It is essential to implement a multi-layered security system one that, even in the event of a breach, prevents the withdrawal or exchange of assets. A prime example of this can be seen in the cryptocurrency sector, where, for instance, USDT holdings can be frozen when necessary a measure we have witnessed on numerous occasions. It is also possible to integrate various exchanges, which can effectively halt the movement of funds, preventing them from being traded or exchanged. The key is to detect the issue as quickly as possible, as every minute of delay comes at a very high cost.
To me, what's really important in Gamdom's case is understanding how hacker pulled this off, instead of just counting on getting stolen fund back. Same time, I wouldn't say that weak security was necessarily reason for hack until we see results of the investigation.
As for freezing stolen asset, there's important detail here. For example, Tether can indeed freeze certain USDT address, but things are much more complicated with Bitcoin and other decentralized cryptocurrency.
But most important thing for me is what happens to ordinary gamblers money. If any casino suffer hack because its own infrastructure was compromised, users shouldn't have to suffer financial loss because of it.

That’s a mess right there, the 3 million dollar loss wasn’t enough for them, and now they are also in a big trouble which can lead to a disastrous outcome if what these hackers are mentioning is true. I remember that last time I replied in Gamdom’s announcement thread in the forum, if I am not working, their representative here is offline for so long and that’s why we can’t get any precise information for now.

Imagine the number of people who have done the KYC process, and if it’s true that the hackers got their hands into a full database with documents of players, what can I say, it’s probably too late. Guessing from these numbers at least 1% of the total players are in danger now. Wondering what can happen next and how it will affect crypto casinos if this data is leaked?

Security issues are supposed to be handled seriously so that any attempts of hackers to steal information from their website will not work at all. This hack could have been avoided if Gamdom always do their security checks since they have large issues and their information at hand. I don't know how the hackers were able to get access to the Gamdom security and how they were able to steal users information. This is a painful scenario and the information that has been stolen will be sold and used for exploit.

And I just saw this news:

So the group that hacked them, known as cyber-extortion group Whitearmor, said that they have 15 million customers data with them and they are demanding a huge $15 million from Gandom.

Gandom though disputed that big database, but still the criminals might have gotten their customers database.

Seriously how do you even keep your data safe these days?... Delete yourself from the internet?  Lips sealed  that won't help either because some trace will probably stay. even if I delete my accounts I don't know how long companies keep the data (not an expert so sorry if I'm wrong). And then boom! my data is sold somewhere in Bangladesh for 3 cents or whatever they get there. So unfair!

Actually, gamdom did more quite better when it comes to curbing or stopping them from getting completely hacked, they lost $3m compared to what other casinos lost it is low. For the situation to be handled the casino must transfer the situation of other casinos to be transferred to another domain, this won't fix the situation completely because the old site has been hacked, take note that it won't fix the breach but if informations are being compromised it would reduce the access the hackers have.

Gandom though disputed that big database, but still the criminals might have gotten their customers database.
If those hackers actually have customer's data, those hackers have probably already made backups of that data to sell, even if Gamdom gave in to their demands.

Anyway, this is why, as much as possible, I don't do KYC on any platforms. The number of times hackers have been able to breach a platform's security has made me realise that your personal data is not safe in their hands.
