It depends on you how much money you are playing with or placing a physical bet. If you do not have money, then even if the match is won in your favor, it will be considered a prediction of your victory, not a monetary win, because in gambling, money is taken first, then the game progresses. If you do not take money at the beginning, then that bet can ruin your match. If you do not care about money and you have it, you will not have these problems. Although this has happened to me a lot, I play gambling with fake money, in which if I run out of coins and the game is my win, my entire game is ruined. Therefore, we should not lack money for as long as we are playing, and this is what causes a disease of addiction and this is what causes losses.

.... “Ahh, if I had waited, I would have won $30,000”....
So tell me, is it greed, or is it just human nature? Why do people get upset over a bet they cashed out successfully, just because they would have won more?

It's just lip service and a burst of emotion. We also do this in many situations, we blame ourselves for wrong decisions. It's greed, yes, but it's a normal reaction. Some gamblers take it lightly, and some become miserable. It's a situation that gamblers should resolve and address positively ot it can harm their behavior and their well-being.
In gambling, you need to learn how to move forward and accept every decision you make, good or bad, it's part of gambling.

It is both in human nature and greed combined because humans are never satisfied with what they have until they lose everything, it happens in a way that people changes their mind because they are scared of losing their money or any valuable but the moment that which they fear so much turns out positive they start feeling bad for missing out the opportunity and wishing they never changed their mind, but if it turns negative they will be happy to escape lose, every which way they are in, and they are only concerned about making profit nobody wants to lose. Since we can't predict the outcome anyone involved in such game should be ready for any results.

Its simply human nature. We would always wish we got the best or highest, even if we had something to celebrate. There will always be regrets when we make decisions that make us lose a bigger opportunity.

My solace when such a thing happens is that "I would have also lost all if the games didn't turn out well". If you feel cashing out and losing money will cause you so much pain, I would be better off taking the risk of waiting till the match is over.

I want to say it is both greed and human nature. The instinct to wish for the bigger win when all the games are green is human nature. The greed is when we know that if we never bet, there won't be even a little win, but we still choose to wish for the bigger win. Humans are both greedy, and human nature does not let us see it as being greedy.

We gamblers have been in this position many times. Those who don't cash out can't relate. But many folks do cash out in gambling. The result will go either in loss or in profit.

I know that it can be very tempting in most occasions not to cash out, especially when the bettor feels that it is just one or two games left to win but to me i cash out at any best instance because gambling can be really unpredictable, the outcome of an event might change few minutes in the game so we must be always prepared for the worse while expecting the best.

The difference between the initial stake and the cash out in the instance mentioned by OP is quite huge, so i don’t think personally i will be angry if i cash out and the game later played because i already made a lot of profit from the game, sometimes as bettors let’s do everything possible to ensure we are on the safer side, so we don’t end up losing everything because of our greed.

Therefore, we should not lack money for as long as we are playing, and this is what causes a disease of addiction and this is what causes losses.
Indeed, the amount of the bet decides whether precise forecasts concerning the game outcome are capable of bringing fortune or just proving ability to analyze. Absence of monetary capital makes it impossible to transform the wins into actual money, all that remains is an empty feeling of pride. Continuous need to invest in bets forces the gambler to keep the reserves topped up for being able to use the favorable outcomes.

Emotional dependence on the permanent presence of money turns out to be a harmful vulnerability causing addiction. Need to be provided with golden chances without pauses makes players lose control and plunge into financial troubles. Unceasing craving for victory brings nothing but spiritual void and useless resources. To put the end to this kind of gambling becomes a reasonable way to preserve one’s peace.

What's greed, isn't that part of human nature which I consider every gambler to have it in some ways. Every gambler wants the fattest reward and not the lesser, especially when he remembers how much funds he has lost from many spoilt bets, and now the only bets that could have made him larger fortune he lost a part of it back to the casino because he was scared of losing it all. Well, after realising it all played, he definitely gets to regret being frightened and cashing it half when he could taken the risk to get full reward.

i cash out at any best instance because gambling can be really unpredictable

However cashing out in every optimal instance cannot be universal strategy. This is because bookmaker provide cash out offer based on current potential value of our open bet. And they have margin on that offer. simply cashing out when you see any profit does not guarantee that you are getting best possible price.

Suppose if I win my bet then total return will be $1000. And cash out offer is $700. Now according to my own calculation if fair probability of winning the bet is 80% then estimated expected gross return would be $800. In that case cashing out $700 reduces risk but it might not be best decision in terms of expected value. No matter how precisely we calculate probability, possibility of error always remains. Moreover cost of eliminating uncertainty is significant.

So, I don’t view cashing out merely as matter of fear or greed. I will consider how fair offer is, what remaining exposure is and whether taking that risk is reasonable for my bankroll.

this is a well known mechanism while gambling or playing. something similar that could happens also while you want trade something. it is the right moment to sell? or to buy?

Personally my strategy has been something more "get the safe profit", something derived from geektoys and betting exchange platforms.
I don't like to wait the end of the match. Same funds could be easily being invested, accepting a cashout could just maximize the amount of total bets you're going to win.

I want to ask something very common about sports betting. Let’s say you stake $4000 to win $30,000, and while the matches are still going on, they offer you $18,000 to cash out. You decide to take it because you don’t want to risk losing everything. Now imagine you cash out and later all the remaining matches win, instead of being happy that you made a good decision and secured your money, you start saying, “Ahh, if I had waited, I would have won $30,000”.

But why are you angry? You chose to cash out because you were scared of losing, right? What if you had waited and one match spoiled the whole bet? Wouldn’t you be wishing you had taken the cash out?
Honestly, I feel some people focus too much on what they could have won instead of appreciating what they actually got.

So tell me, is it greed, or is it just human nature? Why do people get upset over a bet they cashed out successfully, just because they would have won more?
This is not human nature, we should not make excuses for wrong behaviors and emotional immaturity. There are many logical fallacies and wrong emotional responses, this would be closest to hindsight bias. Getting upset by stuff like that is really childish, you know how children get upset as soon as they don't get something their way. This would be similar. We should instead practice rational thinking and improve the way we handle, evaluate and response to situations. In this case the most appropriate reaction relates to understanding the risk involved, the reasons for the decision and how that decision came to be. What happened after you cashed out does not matter at all, it is not related to your decisions. It is time to learn stuff like that.

Partly greed, partly the human tendency to cry over spilled milk. I think it's not either greed or human nature because greed itself is part of human nature.

I oftentimes get annoyed when people are so serious and boastful about sharing what they could have won had they not cashed out earlier. It seems they're only showing how they're both weak and arrogant. They want to play safe but also want to get the most reward. They want to take low risk but want big gains. In gambling, that's not how it works.

It's human nature, it's like Bitcoin; if we sell and then the price increases significantly, it causes us a lot of regret. The same thing happens with investments. If you leave with that money, you should simply thank God that you were able to withdraw it. Some don't manage to withdraw their money and lose everything. In the event of losses, the results might bring some nostalgia, but I say that something good will always come your way.

It is a matter of basic psychology of human beings. People always want to have the highest yield possible.

It is similar to what happens in trading and market speculation. Some trader could have made a good move and made ten thousand dollars, but he realizes than if he had waited more, he could have gotten double than that. He won't pay attention to all the money he actually got thanks to he trading move, he will only think on the missed opportunity and feel bad about it.

I would say it is greed or a manifestation of greed mixed with FOMO. It is also present in future markets and also in betting and gambling. Thanks to that way people think, casinos make a lot of more money, as they leverage on the feelings and psychology of people.

We are greedy by nature. Don't take it too defensively and think of the expectation of more wins as a natural attitude. This offer of winning during the match by betting is tempting and you should accept it if you have the opportunity to answer it. I think the best decision is to win and withdraw the money immediately without waiting for the end of the match.
Most of the time, greedy attitude works in us. The more we win, the more we expect to win more in the next bet. This is how we get addicted to gambling, but the importance should be given to enjoying and withdrawing small or big wins because greed can only increase the amount of your losses.

On the opposite side, you would have said good thing I cashed out, I would have lost that bet.

2 sides of possibility, you cash out because you see it's necessary either you see it through analysis or you become a coward.
But if you ask me, I would not cash out, that shit is killing my nerves, I would just wait until the game is over as that is the proper thing remember we are not trading here, we are gambling, we bet on the outcome and that cash out is a trap, you will realize that sooner or later.

People will always aim for a bigger win, so they regret their decision when they could have taken home bigger winnings. That's normal, it's human nature, that's probably the reason why that cash-out feature is available so bookies can give us a hard time thinking and we get distracted because we are just supposed to pick the winner and move on if we lose then there's that cash-out thing, sheesh.

This kind of thinking is a very common thing for people. And everyone has greed to a greater or lesser extent. But the problem is, in the case of someone who can control this greed, the regret of not winning the money does not last long. He can accept it very naturally. Because if that match had not happened according to his prediction, he could have lost the entire money. He can accept it very naturally. Now, a person who expects additional profit may become mentally unstable due to the regret of not being able to win such a large amount. Then he may decide to bet more aggressively.

A responsible gambler should never regret not winning a large amount. Rather, be satisfied with the profit he has made or accept the loss he has made and keep himself calm.

Personally, I prefer to make the wise decision to withdraw the profits I have earned rather than giving in to greed and risking the loss of both those profits and my initial capital.

Naturally, human temperaments vary from person to another so some gamblers may be overcome by greed leading them to take risks that they ultimately come to regret. The The wise decision is to be content with the profits you have earned and not take risks in the unknown.

You can attribute this to both human nature and greed. Basically, it's human nature to never be happy with what they have in their pockets, but to assume their happiness comes from what they don't have, and for that, they struggle every time. If he gets $18k, he is happy at that moment because he thinks he has made the maximum profit. However, when he later hears that all the games won, he starts regretting it and thinks he deserves that money too. But due to stupidity and fear, he loses it. These are innate behaviors, and they are never going to change, but you can try to start being happy with what you have in your hands now.
