Why would a gambler even have a profit target in first place? Gambling is completely something we shouldn't rely heavily on, because it will definitely turn against if you start with a winning mindset.

My own rule is not to go above 1/3 of the winning amount. If I won $100, I might spend $30 to just play around. Who knows if I somehow get lucky and win again. If I am the one that made a profit of $100, am withdrawing everything and closing for the day.  I know my self, if decide to gamble again by using some percentage of that profit I made, I might get carried away  and  continue to gamble more. I might lose all if luck isn't one my side for the second tiime. So that's why I walk away after any round I play .I only gamble on soccer matches which is one the weekend, I combine both  Saturday and Sunday games in one ticket. Whatever is the result of that tickets, I am done for the whole weekend. The more you keep playing, the more chances you give yourself to lose what you have already gained.

I think the greatest level of discipline is knowing where and when to draw the line particularly when you’re winning or on a winning streak, because it’s a lot more easier to say “damn, I’m calling a quit because I’ve lost too much already” than to say “I think it’s time to walk away because I’ve won too much already”. There is nothing wrong with having a winning mindset when you're gambling but it shouldn't be your major reason for gambling because your winning mindset is not enough to make you to win, you need luck to win so for that reason it is not advisable to have a profit target when you're gambling. What would you do if you don't meet your target? You can either do the responsible thing and stop or you can keep going but remember that the chances of losing your money is greater than that of winning, if you do the math you will agree that having a profit target in gambling would result to putting yourself under undue pressure to win. Gamble with amount that you can afford to give away and when the small amount is finished you should stop gambling whether you're winning or not.
