A professional gambler is a folk that don’t see gambling as form of entertainment completely . someone who treats gambling as a serious, structured activity, using knowledge, experience, strategy, and risk management to generate income rather than relying purely on luck. I personally still believe that gambling is mainly a game of luck , and no this being a professional doesn’t mean that they are always winning or even winning . Just someone that understands how gambling works to some point , the real professional gambler are those that focus more on risk management cause you can’t be lucky always or always beat the system. So better to okay it safe .
Thats my words also. I personally think that the word professional should not be used in the case of gambling because gambling is a sector where it can never be accepted as a profession, even if someone accepts it as a profession, he will never be able to make a healthy lead through that profession and earning. So I want to say here that there should be no word to say professional gambler in the case of gambling. What we can use here is responsible gambler, meaning all those gamblers who gamble only for entertainment and at the same time do not gamble beyond their ability to lose.

When someone is professional about something, it means they have known the route and out of that thing, being very good at it and that should mean they are making money from it and not just on a random.
Personally, when I see people who rate themselves as professional gamblers, I don't always take them seriously due to how well I know gambling and how they view it. They are far from being professional. Maybe someone who knows how to manage its risk properly can be rated as a professional, but it falls under responsible gambling.

At this point for someone to become a professional gambler does it comes about the risk that is always taken when placing your bet that makes him professional gambler,
The moment you discover that you are gambling and know any area of your life is left behind from developing, then you can be called a professional gambler because you know what you are doing and are able to gamble with the right intentions. Being a professional gambler, it goes beyond just making a decision on the risk to take in gambling, you have to know how to place your priority right and how you could manage yourself emotionally with how you are gambling, when you still find yourself being up to task at every other thing you engage to win without being affected being a gambler.

I don't think there any position such as that, 'Proffesional gambler', for me, not at all. The word professional is used to describe someone who is certified in a skill or job, and does it very well without mistakes at all times. The word professional comes as a result of your perfectness while doiya particular things. So from this, tell me, who can be called a professional gambler, when we already know that to win gambling isn't easy. People win just out of luck and not what they claim to know. Winnings aren't from your wisdom or skills or your professionalism, not at all. People can just carelessly call you a professor gambling, trying to show that you are always gambliu, nothing more than that. There is nothing like professional gambling. My opinion though.

Winning money regularly doesn't make someone a professional gambler. But rather someone can be seen as a professional gambler based on their knowledge about games and how they analyse games. It is possible for someone to win big amount of money and end up losing everything in the future. However, the fact that someone is always on a winning streak should not make them to see gambling as a means of making money because gambling is a game of luck . A professional gambler should know how to manage risk to reduce loses and they should know when to stop gambling to avoid chasing after loses.

It's a simple description for me, those who are making a living out of gambling. Regardless of what games they play, as long as they're profitable with it and they also claim that to themselves.
That classifies them as a professional gambler. But the two games are what I think have got the most professional gamblers.
1. Poker 2. Sports betting.

Is gambling a profession? No!!
So how can you be a professional in something that has no profession? Of course no way! Do it’s not possible to be a professional in a practice that is very unpredictable and only depends on luck and a level of strategy which fails often so their is no solid stand on what characteristics that will determine someone’s skill set or ability to become a professional in gambling.

There are two types of professional gambler that I've ever seen. The first one chases short term money because the gambling companies shut them down, it primarily involves having a strategy to beat the bookmakers and they do exist - for example picking horses a few days out that are at way higher odds than they should be and then trying to cover your bets as it gets much closer to the race, so you lock in a profit. Sportsbooks know this strategy already and you might get away with it, or some similar type of arbitrage, but after you've taken a few thousand profit your account will get blocked and you'll be blacklisted. Besides that you have to be in a skilled game where the house can make money too, like poker but only the version against other players, not the fixed casino version. The house makes rake and hopefully you accumulate the skills over time to beat enough players to make a consistent profit. Online poker has gotten ever harder though and now up against AI you have to play a near perfect game (while knowing the opportunities to bluff) to stand a chance. In person poker probably gives you better chances but you still need skills.

I think it's people for whom gambling has turned into a profession. I don't mean steady income from playing since that isn't really possible but everything around it like advertising and partnerships and deep knowledge of how a particular game system works... Basically someone who WORKS in it and doesn't only PLAY.

When professional in any field means you really means you know the routes more like all the in and out , it more like the person is mastered at the process and it pays consistently, A professional shoe makers fixes shoes and get paid because he has a skill… Which in gambling it is different that most people who call themselves professional gamblers don't have a route, they have hope. And hope is not a profession, so will should not see them as professionals gamblers let take note….but come to think of it is there people who are professional gamblers?

Reading from the previous reply, I noticed that we have different definitions of a professional gambler, mine a little different from others too. I can consider them a professional gambler is if they are well recognized with a track record and if their income comes mostly from the gambling industry, it doesn't mean it is strictly from their winnings but it may/maybe came from sponsorships from companies when they are playing professionally like poker players.
Those who has contracts from companies to represent them in a gambling/casino match up is the one I can consider a professional gambler since they are most likely earning money from it steadily and can sustain themselves even if they lose in their gambling sessions.
Those whom I consider professional gamblers take the games seriously and competitively because their reputation is always on the line. They don't take gambling as a hobby or entertainment anymore. I can compare them directly to professional esports players.

Streamers should also be considered as professional gamblers because they always make large amounts of money, they are paid by the casino may be the ambassador. I do not know how to classify a professional in gambling, maybe those who can manage risk management and strict discipline, but overall we never consider it because if they lose it means not professional. Do not let you with a winning streak more then considered professional.

For the fact that gambling is unpredicted their is no one thst can be refer as professional gambler. Professional means doing best in what you found yourself doing and their is no one thst is doing well in gambling. Everyone just rely on lick. The only thing we have in gambling is just responsible gamblers and this is the best you can refer yourself as in gambling. Anyone thst calims to be professional gambler can even put themselves in problem because they will be so desperate to win just to be called a professional.

Winning regular is enough reason to be called a professional gambler, I once remembered my experience with a friend who’s so lucky when it comes to sports betting. I asked for few betting tips and games so I could place bets with my money but guess what, the games never came out as expected. I was on this pattern for a month, I never won a nice amount compared to the already won games sent, usually screenshot. Though there’s no such as a professional gambler, professional has to do with expert viewing gambling is never predictable and winning always is not certain reason why I don’t mind whenever I lose.

To me, this is the most annoying thing so far on the Internet. Many people call themselves professional gamblers; meanwhile, their whole intention is to showcase a lifestyle on the Internet, so many people will believe them. And funny how they call themselves professional gamblers, but they still create a Telegram group where people will keep paying them money for a booking code. A professional gambler doesn't do such a thing because they luckily get more from betting than the little amount of money people will pay for the codes. Is gambling a profession? No!!
The truth is that most people will not agree with you on this. If you doubt me, go straight to X and ask this; then you've just started an argument over there. However, I still don't agree that there's anything like a professional gambler, but what I can say is that a good gambler knows how to gamble responsibly to prevent huge losses.

As far as I understand, professional gamblers are people who have taken gambling as their source of income. They are people who take advantage of gambling engagement like poker tournament and other gambling competition. Aside from that, they rely on skill and statistics, and have strategy for long term profit. In what aspect do we classify and rated someone as a professional gambler? Those who compete in gambling tournaments like poker, blackjack, and those who have vast knowledge about sports betting and engaging with it can be classified as profesional gamblers.

Personally i will consider one a professional gambler if such person gambles by a principle or rule just like we do with our jobs, and this person does it to make a living off it and not just for fun or hoping on luck alone, this person applies skills will combining luck. Because professionals in various fields of endeavour does combine all of these, they do not just do the jobs because its fun or so, they do have patterns to it, rules, principles and strategies with which they approach their jobs so that they can and will see and get results everytime they do it. Professionals can not be considered addicts even when they gamble very frequently, obviously its a job to them, so you don't expect they shouldn't do their job often. This is my fair taught on this.

Being a professional as a gambler doesn't really mean that they are good at it. I was discussing with a client some years back, his friend claimed that he was good at booking games because as at that time he was winning, so he promised to be given his friend games to play, but unfortunately, his friends hardly wine from the games that was giving to them by there friend, which makes him become a laughing stock before his friend, who mocks him that he was claiming to be a guru in booking games which they end up losing including there funds.

When I was younger and more naive if you asked me this question I would think a professional gambler is someone who is really good at gambling and makes money when they go to casinos...
Now that I am older and wiser (well, older at least) I would consider a professional gambler to be someone who earns an income from gambling, through something like a partnership that allows them to get paid regardless of how well they gamble. Typically this would be an advertising or streaming deal...
To be honest, I don’t see much logic in this - if a person earns their income not from gambling, but from "related" areas or even just from advertising, then they certainly cannot be called a professional gambler. Since this is a rather vague topic, I would prefer to use simple, practical criteria: if a gambler shows a profit (over the long term, of course - not just over a single evening or a couple of bets), then he is definitely a professional. Therefore, professional gamblers can only be found among card players or bettors - in short, those whose actions actually carry some weight.

That’s something we can agree on. There is nothing like a professional gambler. Some gamblers with the high tendency to winning has always associated or referred to themselves with the term but, they are simply a little bit skilled and have some luck on their side. Gambling can always go either side every other day and you can always loss even on your best bet.
There are those that are good in the act of counting cards and some other tricks at board games but, that’s just about it, tricks and for this, they call themselves professionals but, it’s still an act that is frowned at and can result in your dismissal from a game or casino. You can’t be a professional in gambling.
Absolutely, I agreed with your all statement because I also have never had any term like this in a long journey with things. It's always never been easy to predict about wins in gambling; a few people always end up good just because of their luck. It's never been termed as professional gambling. Gambling has never been allowed to stay on the same level because ups and downs are also part of this due to its nature and system, which changes sides. Most games work through luck; just because of this, having any chance of professionalism or expecting anything that allows regular income has never been easy or near possible. No one can claim to have any point that gives him any tag related to this. People needed to stay on a level where they spend money, which they can afford to lose in the attempt to have anything else surely end on the worst level.
