Well, then either you are a scammer or stupid. You would receive likely 10 times the amount of BTC compared to no escrow.

I opt for stupid.

Never underestimate the stupidity of people venturing into new territory. There's a shitload of money to be made out of this, with or without scam. An escrow is only going to guarantee you get your shitcoins in exchange for BTC. It has nothing to do with features of the coins. If the coins are are like any other coins and worthless, then having an escrow is not going to make a difference... so why bother with the escrow fees? On the other hand, a coin is only as good as the community and dev supporting it. So the situation of "what if it turns out to be the next doge?" cannot occur with a dev who is absconding with the money. So either ways, stop thinking escrow is the solution. Its just the new buzz word... nothing more. You wouldnt believe the number of people who fail to notice that.

Are you leaving Nxt??  Undecided

There are a bunch of great developments out there and to archive yourself you will need a big big fat community and a lot of trust. I have doubts..

I think you would have been better off staying with nxt instead of branching off.  No matter how you label it... Simcoin is still a clone and knockoff of nxt.

I suggest you continue to stay and help to develop nxt instead of starting your own alt coin.

The key to success in any alt coin is getting large scale adoption by the public, not coming out with new and fancy whizz bang features that nobody understands.

Its better for all of us to unite and dig a well that is 1 cm wide and a kilometer deep then to spread out and dig 1000 wells that are only a cm deep.

Pretty much any fancy pants feature that anyone can dream up cryptos has been thought out... yours isn't any original despite what you think.

The key is to get the code out.. not dream up new features or new clone coins.

Nxt has already "taken" the title as being the new kid on the block created from scratch...

If you come out with simcoin it can never proclaimed to be created from scratch it'll just be another clone of nxt in the history of cryptos.

I'm saying this not to rain on your parade but to encourage everyone to take the coins we already have on the market n actually make it work in real life and not just in theory.

Anyone coming out with a new coin at this stage in crypto history is only gonna be seen as a "get rich quick" for the inventor and nothing more.

If you have a stake in nxt n decide to invest in a clone of nxt... do not fool yourself into thinking that you are diversifying ur investments.

All u r doing is encouraging talent to go somewhere else instead of focusing on nxt.

The grass is not always greener on the other side folks.

Peace
Tai Zen

I already left NXT community some time ago. One of the reason is that I was constantly arguing with people about how things should be done and that takes a lot of energy and puts a lot of stress on you. Here I will do things my own way right until release.

I've learned a lot from NXT and want to design a better system from scratch rather than patch an existing architecture.

No escrow is possible as seen in some previous cases, but complete refusal of escrow is honestly way too weird. If you're legit, it looks like you want instant access to funds for a product that has no timeline for release. I'm all for new coins which aren't simple clones but I don't think anyone is gonna be convinced with your approach to the IPO.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

That's not the response I'm looking for, I'd rather you don't avoid a real answer and stop the winking smiley faces, lots of those in the stackcoin thread if you get what I'm saying. I asked my question in a polite manner and I expect a real answer.

There was no question in your post.

If the question is "why don't you use escrow?" then I've explained it 3 times already.

The short answer is: because I don't have to.

I am not sure what kind of answer you are looking for.

"Aye, captain, I will setup an escrow right away just because you told me to!"
Or:
"Duh, how can I scam people with escrow?"

Just don't send any money if you find the lack of escrow suspicious.

Yeah that was the question. I thought there was a better response available. If your project ends up being legit, then good luck with it. I still think you need some better reasons for completely denying escrow though.

Anonymity is important and I will keep an eye on the zerocash guys, but in my opinion it should not be a default protocol, both for performance and transparency reasons.

As for unique deposit addresses - they will still be possible, but I don't think that removing the comment field from transactions just to force services to generate them is worth it.

Comment field in transactions has other legitimate uses.

I invested. This guy ran his NXT exchange honestly (returned all of the NXT & bitcoin before he closed) so escrow is not needed with this one IMO.

Good Luck!

I sent you a PM earlier, but perhaps these questions are best answered where everyone can see it:

1) Will the whitepaper come out before or after the IPO ends? I hope before, so I can make an informed investment instead of simply speculating.

2) What is the BTC used for?

Pandaisftw

PS:

Not to rain on your parade, but NXT TF will allow speeds like this as well.

Right. I'll believe it when I see it.

So far it looks like a very fragile and artificial construct (not to rain on your parade too Smiley )

Anyway, with block time = 1 minute, you cannot achieve 1 sec transactions. TPS is not equal to confirmation speed.

TF will enable instant transactions (<1 second confirms), but I am definitely interested if you have a working model right now.

Not a full whitepaper, but I will setup a wiki soon and start filling it with technical info and ideas for people to comment.
So you still have time Smiley

2) What is the BTC used for?

Bounties, what else. We will need logo, branding, apps, tools, etc. I can't pay people with simcoins at this moment, many wouldn't accept them.

Plus initial server setup - hosting companies don't (yet Smiley ) accept simcoins either.

I don't see how that is possible with block time = 1 minute.

Or you mean that other BCNext idea, about N/10 limit for transactions? Maybe it could work. But again, this is just a kludge.

Well, I guess the first thing would be to decide whether we go with Simcoin or something completely different Smiley

There's too few people here yet to conduct any meaningful votes, so let's wait a bit.

I think "Simple Coin" would be more simple :p and it could have the acronym SIM. Simcoin is kinda neither here nor there.... stuck in crypto purgatory  Grin Plus Sim city is here for decades... can't help not thinking of associations.

NxtChg, will Simcoin contain a built in asset exchange?

I have no doubt that the first crypto 2.0 platform to introduce an integrated anonymous decentralized marketplace that allows people to exchange any "asset" (not just other cryptocurrencies) will see widespread adoption as it will spawn a hundred SRs. If the transactions are done via encrypted IMs between the two parties involved then there would be no risk to the platform itself as nobody other than the people conducting the transaction could see what is being traded. For example, if someone shares a pirated file via a torrent, do the authorities go after the individual or the creator of say uTorrent?

IMHO a built in anonymous, encrypted decentralized marketplace is the single most important thing a next gen cryptocurrency platform should include.
