hours ago I was thinking to invest a little more, but I felt sleepy so ... When I get up,the ipo closed:(
Ok,at least I am on the train, good luck everyone.

Same with me, just got back from vacation, was in my mind to invest more all the time, funny it closed just hours ago

All people will have time to invest more. In a couple of weeks the exchange will be ready, so until the official launch there is plenty of time.

Did I catch it right, that it's going to be exchange for Simcoins(stakes)-BTC and back, like asset exchange for NEM ?

Regards

Iota is a brand new and novel micro-transaction cryptotoken optimized for the Internet-of-Things (IoT). Unlike the complex and heavy blockchains of Bitcoin and the like, which were designed with other uses in mind, Iota is created to be as lightweight as possible, hence the name "Iota" with emphasis on the ‘IoT’ part.

To all the people who are sending me PM's with requests no invest - just stop.

The rules are for everyone.

You will now have to buy from the exchange.

What about Angelfire?

Actually, I have used Nearly Free Speech Dot Net in the past which I liked, but at the time they didn't have SSL.  Apparently they do support that now, but I never tried it.

Regular hosting companies won't do.

I need a Windows VPS or a cheap dedicated from a company that accepts bitcoins and doesn't ask too many questions.

Is the Nothing at Stake attack relevant for Simcoin? If yes, how do you plan to solve it?

I don't follow n@s arguments too closely, but from what I can tell the problem stems from the same BCNext blunder I've already pointed out: using PoW atavism - the blockchain - for a PoS coin. Sure, it's much easier to program, but, as we can see, gives you a lot of problems down the road.

People worry that since the blockchain is not protected with PoW, an attacker could generate an alternative chain by buying old private keys and then present this chain to the network as a better alternative.

Information about how exactly NXT forging works is very confusing and scattered across multiple forum posts, so I can't tell whether such attack is viable, but seeing this new talk about Economic Clustering (Huh), the threat might be real.

In Simcoin there will be no blockchain, so old private keys are useless. To make any changes you need to own the majority of stake in the present.

I speculated that the IPO would last much longer (at least 6 months) and deliberated the amount to invest and managed to not invest at all.  Angry

@xtester: what would you say now about "later investors having significantly less risk"?

@gstarcev: 6 months?! And have at least 200 very pissed-off early adopters? That's not the way to start a project...

Besides, I kept telling people: invest small, increase later. You have no one to blame but yourself, sorry.

There will be an exchange soon, but regular centralized, not distributed.

Thanks. I will need as many hosting companies as possible to setup the initial network anyway...

@xtester: what would you say now about "later investors having significantly less risk"?

What I said stands true, with the right incentives in place such delaying wouldn't happen or if it would happen it would be so insignificant an amount that it wouldn't matter at all.

You answered about your scheme. I asked about mine: since the risk was approximately the same, as we can clearly see, I didn't have to switch to yours.

So, you probably noticed already that the IPO is closed.

I think if I kept it open any longer one of the investors would order a hit on me Smiley

Final distribution

210 investors with 143.206 BTC.

Top 10 accounts own 20.63%, compared to 20.98% on June 1.

Deposits

Progress report May 18 – June 7

This project is significantly hampered by lots of cows farting all over the world. Could someone please tell them not to?

Otherwise, I am about to forfeit my helipadded boat for 20 ice cream trucks...

Still, I've managed to do a bit of work:

- working on database format for the ledger, significantly reduced the size
- packet encryption updated once again :-)
- detecting ini file changes and reloading it automatically on nodes (a special task for that)
- two time classes based on QueryPerformanceCounter()
- split the client into core dll and shell exe
- working on client auto-update with fsonex
- developing task handling: incoming packets processing and wake up on time intervals, adding/killing, etc.
- setup 4 local nodes to test the network
- request tracking
- JS API extended: reg_account(),get_progess(), kill_task()
- working on consensus
- 2 ping tasks
- 3 account registration tasks (2 for nodes, 1 for client)
- New Account request format, 2 PoW’s for spam protection, second layer encryption, verification.
- simple progress dialog in the client, account registration
- network simulator updated to use consensus, did some tests with various parameters.

This is just a high-level overview. In reality it was 185 closed to-do items Smiley

I need a Windows VPS or a cheap dedicated from a company that accepts bitcoins and doesn't ask too many questions.

Take a look at PRQ located in Sweeden.  They accept Bitcoin and will install any OS of your choice (although you have to supply the OS and/or license keys for non-Free ones).

They've hosted both WikiLeaks and TPB in the past.
