It's not really a proposed "logo" change, its a proposal to adopt an existing Unicode symbol. It is already an existing Unicode character under the non-profit corporation Unicode Consortium, which describes it as a “latin capital B with stroke” that has the hex Alt +0243. The benefit its that everyone already has access to this symbol, look how easy it is to write here: Ƀ And you can apply font styling to it easily: Ƀ Ƀ Ƀ Ƀ ɃI know we have a special button for BTC here, but most dont....

Old logo is still pretty much the best by far, maybe you have to find another way to look at it, what about the b sticking out like 3D

This is just idiotic. Old. Period.
The old symbol bears significant resemblance to a dollar sign - $ - although double-dashed. That is more familiar and much more likeable than the proposed symbol.
Go for what works when you look at it - not for what is convenient in a font. People can use whatever symbol is convenient in a font, but the logo? Needs to create a connection, and the proposed one doesn't do that. The old one does.

What aout still using the old B with the dollar inspired look, make the B black and make a black circle around it as the "new" logo.

The "new" one is already in all the fonts we are using, it will be convenient to use that as a one char symbol for bitcoin. I have no objection to websites and documents using that. Personally, I would use "btc" in the above cases.

Saw the story earlier, was going to post about this- glad I checked first. Anyways, I also say old, hands down. Someone in the comments said they were surprised to hear Bitcoiners fear change. I don't see it as that, at all. This is not change for innovation or any improvement- in my opinion. This is unnecessary change. The original is so well known now, at least among anybody that remotely follows BTC. Why change? Just because some "industry members" think we will fit in better among society with that? In my opinion Bitcoin isn't about changing to suit the masses, but the masses making changes to accept Bitcoin. Another person said in the comments, instead of changing to an existing Unicode symbol, make suggestions that Unicode adopt the BTC. I agree. And I'm not sure how I feel about "industry groups" trying to make changes, that just doesn't feel right to me. Don't even get me started on pushing for XBT instead of BTC...

Not that it really matters (everyone is free to use the symbol they prefer), but I actually like the new symbol better.
Here's my logic: everyone knows1 the first iteration of a new technology is a flop. People want the version where all the kinks have been worked out. By moving to this symbol, the perception in the public will be that this is a new, better, faster, cleaner, environmentally-friendly and ideologically-tolerant version of bitcoin.
1By "knows" I mean completely misunderstands how an open source protocol like bitocoin and a distributed ledger like the blockchain will naturally evolve to best meet the needs of its users.

Has to be the classic one. The Euro was "invented" then adopted and its symbol was integrated and in not too long a time considering. Proof if it were needed that all things are possible if the will is there. Original double strike B for me pls

The orange logo is nice, and very familiar and while I think that it will be eventually replaced with a sleeker, perhaps more universal character, I don't think that the proposed logo design will be the one.
Having said that I do like the style of the proposed logo, just not for Bitcoin.

I guess people will choose based on their preference I guess that's how polls and choice generally works lol. Either way the poll has little to no impact. There are lots of stickers produced, logos already posted on websites, images printed in peoples' minds. It would take some serious coordination to find and replace the Bitcoin logo.

Old one hands down. I still don't know who tricked the BTC foundation to destroy the strong marketing identity of the old symbol. Its like if some dude convinces the US Government to change $ to IsI because it fits better on the new Samsung Galaxy S7 phablets. Aha.

I agree, that it will take serious coordination to find and replace the Bitcoin logo. It would be wise to sort out the subject of official logo/symbol before we hit mainstream & mass adoption. It will be tough to get consensus now, but doable if organized properly.
