if you are a gun-for-hire, what is your price?

If I were to put a price to it.. (and note: I'm still not signing up for it).

I think it would be fair to place a 10 BTC bounty on an effort that would preserve the existing "network".

This is a much bigger job than the WC folks.. it requires some surgical scripts to be created.

if the community raised the funds and used escrow I can see 10 BTC being no problem. What would be your paper-napkin estimate on the time to completion? please take your time and let us know when you are confident about your numbers. alot of us are still in shock and will most likely be drinking the night away with what little satoshis we have left.

You realize that if you pull this off, you will go down in history and it will hopefully generate more business for you.

I'm one of the AsiaCoin bagholders. If the dev does not come back with version #2, then we will have to come up with solutions to fix this.

I'm going to start adding names to this list who are bagholders that want this fixed. I'll start with my name.

AsiaCoin Bagholders who wants to see a fix:

CryptoSteam
Nicolaas.R
silencesilence
bluebit25
WildChaser777
istop08
GröBkAz
Maxikosw (Maxikose on freenode irc)
hrt
cjp007
kache
minuchi.str
amit2007gunjan
noobthegreat
EEKman (Lost 3K USD. I feel you. I lost tons myself)
Maestro1
Xuorc
probrian
artem6662
Shkembe
Wolden
probrian
bittcoinn
voisina

And see what TokyoGhetto said:

You guys don't need the dev to come back. Let him rot in hell. Asiacoin can still be saved. Create a new blockchain that destroys the hidden premine and have people exchange their coins to the new blockchain. It happened with ADT and with Federation Credits.

Get a bounty together and contact the developers.

by looking at the blockchain and the movement of the hidden premine you can determine where the coins went and how many.

Count me in as well..

Trade markets with Bitcoins ! Including Forex, Commodities and Stocks SimpleFX
Transfer Money accross borders with so little fee that it is silly !

But if those 3 billion coins are moving on the blockchain, then I don't think, anyone can save anything now. Is there a running block explorer for the coin and is address of 3 billion coins known?

Well like i said, it's completely possible to figure out, because everyone has the blockchain.. you just need a crawler script to go through each block and trace the originating bad 3b premine transactions, to figure out all the current addresses where some of those coins exist.

And once that is computed.. then just hardcode a new forked client to block those addresses and those amounts.

All the data is right there in front of us.. you just need a surgical script to crawl through the blockchain..

Not this simple. What if some of those coins are moved in exchanges, sold and converted to BTC? What if some of those coins are on exchanges wallet? Sorry, you are underestimating the scenario of those 3 billion coins being moved.

Is there some technic method to avoid such a premine, or check it and alarm when some amount not showing in the previous blockchain info being transfered from 1 address to another? I think we could find a algorithm to solve it.Thus the crptocity will benefit from those scam things and become stronger and safer.

micryon appreciate your experience though in my opinion Asiacoin can easily restore after blockchain is fixed. Asiacoin never dropped below 8th volume. all was OK except premine. Dev said it was hacker attack. Just pure probability - there is much more hacker attacks than malevolent developers. I am not here to judge - this might be hacker attack. after blockchain is fixed Asiacoin IMHO restores easily

Just back of the envelope, probably a week .. part time.. so like 40 hours not counting crawl/compute time.

If someone has done something like this before or have more intimate working knowledge of block explorer code, it could be done faster.

Kind of doubt it.. a few months ago Stackcoin was the biggest scam that cryptos had ever seen.. but then it faded into memory.. AC has only been around 2 weeks.. it'll probably fade from people's minds very soon.. maybe within the next 2 weeks.  Part of the problem with this eco system, things move quickly to the next big thing.

At this point to revive this not only does 10 BTC need to be paid for developing the fix.. but also some has to be earmarked to do marketing and pay off exchanges to relist.. let's say that costs 20 BTC.. we're looking at 30 BTC to revive this back to.. what market cap?  If it can reach 100 BTC marketcap.. it maybe a worthwhile investment i guess...

Guys. I hold no AC. So, can I share a neutral perspective. I know many people have lost money in this. It's almost criminal (actually it is criminal) what original dev has done.

But if those 3 billion coins are moving on the blockchain, then I don't think, anyone can save anything now. Is there a running block explorer for the coin and is address of 3 billion coins known?

Just watch that. If those coins are moving. Forget it really. If not, there still may be some chance.

I really wish whole anonymous coin launching goes away forever now and atleast big exchanges ask for identity verification by altcoin creators.

It is not 3 billion, it is more like 60 billion! Dev said that number and transactions from block 6845 confirm that pre-mine is much bigger than 3 billion

That is assuredly a lie at this point.  I am 100% sure this was a Dev scam from the start.

The proof is in the GetValue code, there was a deliberate attempt at obfuscating the premine in the code, from the start.  There is no doubt about that at this point.

Dev deleted the source code, and now the block explorer as well. Do you still believe it was the hack?

correct. it was hardcodend into the getvaluewithfee function. a modulo operator was used to substract the premined amount of
+3.2 billion ACs.

it was a 100% scam well planned by the DEV of AC.

I  really think the block chosen has to be in the future to give everyone notice.  I'm just moving the few coins I had on MintPal back to my wallet so they are all at one address.

Block 6845 contains around 100 transactions each worth over 350 million coins. Recipient address is the same

that was just a chain of unconfirmed transaction relying on the previous transaction.
i know what i am talking about.

i FOUND THIS SCAM OUT! it was me who published it and who got laughed by many others.

No all coins originating from the scam premine amount would be removed using one of two methods.
