As long as there are people who believe mixers are as good a privacy solution as coins with opaque blockchains, I'll know that there are people who don't know what they are talking about.

And as long as people claim that having an opaque blockchain is a drawback, I'll know there are people who don't know that coins that are on clear blockchains lack the fungibility of coins that are on an opaque blockchain.

Hard to say at this point in time, I get the feeling there might be some changes coming in the crypto scene,

What do you mean? Nxt is part of the SuperNet network of coins, so you can easily exchange between NXT and other coins like BitcoinDark.
Or do you mean the ethereum-like Automated Transactions (AT) which is already implemented in Burst and Qora? Should be released soon for Nxt as well.
