Anoncoin - the rest on this list will simply be hype/pump/dump coins. Anoncoin has the lead on distribution, a huge lead on development, investors, a business model, etc. Obviously this won't be the most popular view as many people have bought into the hype of some of these other coins and have investments at stake but if you actually look at things objectively, the answer should be pretty obvious. People aren't excited about mining 5 ANC blocks at a high difficulty - they are excited about the latest and greatest hyped up coin that they can score a bunch of. 12 months from now, all coins on this list other than ANC will be dead or on life-support. If you're just in it to turn a quick profit, none of this matters. If you're in this for the long-haul, like I am, it's a different story.

CPU, cryptonote based without premine ... (and yes I believe botnets/cloud are less risk than massive gpu/asic farms .. )

My prediction: 6 months from now darkcoin will mostly be forgotten, and then referred to as a scam. The hype is very similar to what megacoin had, and then quark. Something new and brighter will always come along and steal their fanboys.

Not going to happen. The reason is that DarkCoin has a full time dedicated dev team, and they proved to be more than competent, what basically means that DarkCoin won't stop with DarkSend, that's just one feature, dev team has in mind to study that "ring signatures" functionality from ByteCoin, and you can imagine how many more features they will add during the course of the year if this coin was launched on Jan 18th and it already has a working anonymous tx feature, 2nd generation PoS (masternodes), DGW .... ANC for my vote Grin

Zerocoin + I2P will provide a good anonymity foundation. The devs are talking about adding more features later. I understand that they are testing zerocoin now, when they announce that they are the first coin to have implemented the zerocoin layer, I think there will be a price jump.

The anoncoin guys are not very good at promotion though, they haven't been hyping it up, just quietly working on zerocoin. I like this, and I think ANC could be quite undervalued now, only 0.0015 BTC on Vircurex today.

I don't care which one succeeds, we just need an anonymous coin.

Something always smelled about darkcoin for me though. That debacle with pre-mined coins, the website looks amateur, something just doesn't feel right.

Ideally we would have two working anonymous coins in competition with each other, the winner would be the users.

peace.  Wink

Full disclosure: I own quite a few DRK, some ANC and not a single Bytecoin or forked coins (not even sure if there is an exchange market for it).

Darkcoin: It will succeed no matter what, and it doesn't have to be as the most used anonymous coin. All the features the dev is adding and planning will push this coin as a serious candidate to replace LTC, so I don't consider DRK just as an anonymous coin. Its anonymity works, and it will be adopted by darknets once it goes open source, The Armory did already, but removed it later because it's currently closed source.

Anoncoin: Zerocoin's anonymity is more beautiful from a crypto/math point of view, but I seriously don't like the part were we have to trust someone for the the initial master parameters, neither I like the fact that this is new in crypto and I believe it's yet to be proven that it's "uncrackable". I have faith in Gnosis and at this point this is the only reason why I'm still holding my ANC, because Zerocoin is more than 1 year old, this makes me wonder.

Zerocash: I enjoyed the presentation by Prof. Mattew Green and the one by Eli Ben Sasson, I'm looking forward to the whitepaper or any further development. This one could make me dump all my ANC if it looks doable because it's sort of an improvement, but for now it's just a lovely idea.

Bytecoin: I'm very interested in this project, it's kind of cool that it was sort under the radar for so long, but mass adoption would be quite difficult. Most of the tools that exist are based on BTC code, and it doesn't look like Bytecoin or forked coins will have the media attraction of other real new comers like emunie or ethereum, which are also not based on BTC code.

So which one will succeed?

- DarkCoin, yes, no doubt.
- Zerocoin/Anoncoin or Zerocash, probably yes.
- Bytecoin, probably not.

Darkcoin, maybe annoncoin close second. Darkcoin just has already good technologies, original x11 coin, great dev, etc. Hopefully I can buy some before it goes up in price Roll Eyes

we need something better.  none of these quite get it.  we need something that is truly 100% anonymous and can be mined by regular people.  something like a CPU only coin.  something that won't be owned by ASICs or GPU farms.  that way a normal person can mine it and then spend it anonymously.

So is Bytecoin truly anonymous?

According to Adam's Back twitter it's truly anonymus, cause it's CryptoNote based. And CryptoNote provides us with untraceable and unlinkable txs. https://cryptonote.org/inside.php
CryptoNote is cool.

What's about voting, I'm sure BCN is going to succeed.

tired of identical bitcoin forks? try out BCN - no ASICs, no transaction tracking https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=512747.0

Please, add abbreviations for coins as some people could misunderstand you.
There is actually two bytecoin - one is Bytecoin (BCN) and another is BTC fork  Bytecoin (BTE)

So, you stand for Bytecoin forks ?

IMO, support you view gpu farms being larger rivals to cpu miner than botnets
