CLOAK++

Up until recently I have had the vast majority of my cryptocurrency investment in DRK and a very small amount (~$10) in a few others just to see how they were working. I recently moved the DRK money to CLK, which I'm obviously hoping will pay off, although, like the rest of you if you're honest with yourselves, I know all of these options have a high probability of failure. High risk, high reward, though, right?

DRK certainly has the advantage of having a known, good developer where as CLOAK's devs have chosen to remain anonymous. DRK also is more established but there is such a buzz around CLOAK. If the CLOAK devs succeed in creating a completely decentralised, anonymous POS (which current reports from them indicate has been through several iterations during testing and is nearly ready for release), they will have a better product than any of the current competition, which may very well be enough to win the race. In terms of future innovation, successful implementation of the 'OneMarket' idea would actually make CLOAK a potential BTC-beater but I worry that the ambition of the devs might be a little too lofty. As an investor, I would be very happy to be proved wrong, however.

I see lots of IFS here. If the devs do this or if the devs do that....  Roll Eyes

Ifs = scam coin

If you want an anon coin, and I have no idea why this is important to anyone other than drug dealers and child pornographers, then Monero is your best bet. Since the anon is not IF it IS ... HELLLOOOO? anyone out there other than sock puppets for DRK and CLOAK and XC? duh. scam coins all of them.

So lets explore this further. What is the point of a coin? A currency to be spent on stuff. Well my scammy hamsters, just look at PINK. They are creating a payment system where you can buy anything with pink that can be bought with paypal. DING! DING! does a bell chime in your brain or are you still on the scam wagon?

Okay, maybe I had a bit too much beer at lunch today. So sue me.  Grin

Check out OneMarket for cloak. PoSA open beta testing will begin shortly, the closed beta test is working as planned. I'd highly suggest researching coins before calling them a scam.

But LOL @ sockpuppets when you come in an anon thread and hype pink. Too funny.

I'm no drug dealer and surely not into child porn but I'd love to be able to use a truly decentralized crypto to purchase anything and everything from toilet paper to bbq dinner for tonight. I don't like that idea that every purchase I make with a CC or bankcard is documented and stored. Why does big brother need to know what kind of toilet paper I buy or what kind of beer I like to drink.

I'm no sock puppet and I'm a heavy investor in cloak but in the end I'll use whatever true anon coin is out there. If cloaks the first... great, if not that's ok too. I just want to be able to buy stuff and not have it recorded anywhere!

DRK uses the nodes and since nodes can be manipulated it is NOT 100% decentral, hence not completely anonymous.

This is not true but please do explain how you think trustless masternodes can be manipulated.

Cloakcoin at a glance...
The in wallet btc exchange and marketplace looks interesting but…
(oops, just found out the in wallet exchange is actually just an api from a small centralized non-trustless exchange and not actually a decentralized trustless wallet to wallet exchange.)

Cloakcoin had a failed Ninja launch with a 7 day pow 4.5 million coin instamine that has a 6% pos inflation issue. it's also a self-moderated thread that has been censored to cover up launch issues.

so far cloak looks to be mostly vaporware but time will tell. anon devs with closed source unreviewed features is also troubling. it has lots of problems to overcome but it could give xc (1% 2%+ premined, 3 week, 4 million+ coin instamine, self-moderated thread) a run in the pos lane. i may still invest in cloak but i think i’ll wait for more solid info and the inevitable big dump before buying in. congratulations to those who instamined all the coins in the first 7 days. when those people start dumping just a small part of their holdings it will be epically brutal.

you may say that darkcoin also had a  instamine issue the first few days and you would be correct, darkcoin should have been relaunched. drk was however distributed very well over the next few months for pennies because no one knew how big the anon market would be.
the same can't be said of cloak and xc as the anon hype created by darkcoin caused instaminers to hold those instamined coins waiting for the perfect opportunity/liquidity to dump.

the cryptobloat cryptonote coins have worse compatibility issues than cloak and xc preventing mass adoption as well as bloating issues that are supposedly being worked on but it's just theoretical vaporware fixes right now.

darkcoin is a superior pow coin purposely based on bitcoin for easy integration everywhere bitcoin is (this is huge). plus i won't even get into the unlimited 2.0 functionality possibilities of the trustless decentralized masternode system or all the other drk innovations like x-11, dgw, sporks and the fastest/instant anon transactions (darksend+) on the market.
the only question is who will take 2nd place to darkcoin?

any questions?  Grin

Mammothcoin had 2 months of PoW which just ended. Anonymous wallet, working on phase 2 which makes everything anonymous. Never had any problems. Great coin

I don't think that any alt that markets itself as a true anonymous coin will succeed. It would keep out the people who want more transparency and do not need that much antinomy

Obviously everyone is pumping their coin here.

I've invested quite a lot of my BTC in multiple anonymous coins and probably more than one will succeed. My preferences are: Monero > XC > Cloak > DRK.

Most important factors in deciding which coin for me are (in no particular order): devs, premine/instamine issues, distribution, open/closed source and community.

I'm sorry, I stopped reading when I read "failed ninja launch". This launch wasn't promoted as much as some other coins, but there was a Cloakcoin thread on this forum since the very beginning, and I started mining right away. Everyone had the same opportunity for a week, and the network showed that people were mining Cloak. That's why it was upwards of 100 Ghz the entire week. Just because you and others didn't check the announcements thread often enough to notice does not make it an instamine. Do you mind explaining what launch issues occurred?

I don't understand why the F these altcoins are focusing too much on anonymity... These coins should be focusing about features that protect investors from hackers and exchanges like gox  Grin Grin Grin

Cloak ofcourse and not DARK.  This is pretty simple, because DRK uses the nodes and since nodes can be manipulated it is NOT 100% decentral, hence not completely anonymous.
CLOAK PoSA however is the first coin that is completely decentral anonymous.

You seem like a real expert. Could you explain this PoSA with your own words, and also how it combats Sybil attacks, eavesdropping, and blockchain bloat, thanks!

You got me  Smiley i am not the expert you are looking for.  But nodes.. Nodes? The holy grail is decentral. And nodes are not. What if nodes are in the wrong hands? Besides this; darkcoin is great, but currently way overpriced. Cloak however is still pretty young and cheap!

sorry, my bad. i thought this was a thread to debate the different coins. if i have time later i'll start a thread like that and post the link here so we can get to the bottom of all the claims to superiority. may the best coin win!

I will vote Cloak, for the simple reason that they are working on creating a demand for the coin besides as a store of value for speculators.  They are developing a decentralized marketplace.  There are still many ifs though.  But that's my vote.
