People are losing faith in darkcoin based on price indicator.

RC4 may change that. It's almost there.

RC4 is a scam to allow the devs one last chance to unload their drk.

STOP LYING>

You're the one lying. But I guess it just comes naturally for you. RC4 is real.

What will change things imo is the code being open sourced, which enables privacy appreciative merchants to accept it as a form of payment. When that happens, Darkcoin will be the first and only privacy coin that allows full adoption. Other coins still have a lot of work to do to reach that point. Darkcoin has the tech, easy usage, easy adoptability for merchants, and, a big and trusted USD exchange for merchants to convert to fiat, and buyers to buy with fiat - Bitfinex. Darkcoin is just so much ahead of the competition that it might very well just scoop up the whole market.

Darkcoin is soon moving from the the speculation phase to the adoption phase.

Will buy after it get into adopting phase. Buying now is just gambling and speculating that it will succeed.

Granted that everyone has a favorite(s) anon coin ..

But, what's the best way to participate in this category ??
I don't have the technical background to properly evaluate these coins/platforms;
so I'm at a disadvantage to those of you that do ..

I'm further assuming ( correctly ?? ) that anonymity is not something easily
adopted by BTC; hence the need for an alt coin ( or two ) to fill that
( rather large ) niche ..

For lack of a better idea I'm taking a 'portfolio' approach to this category
with modest investments in DRK/CLOAK/KEY/XMR and trying to filter out
the cheerleading/FUD/and P&D background noise ..

Hopefully I've got the ultimate 'winner' in the portfolio and that future
growth will more than pay for the losers (ie my incorrect choices )  ..

How large ( in terms of eventual market cap ) an opportunity does "anon" represent ??

TIA

Triff ..

Its where Bitcoin got its first big break, I think? Its probably a significant sized market but not massive.

You are right to buy a few different coins rather than going all in on one, but I would suggest you add Safecoin, which isn't in the poll and nobody but me has mentioned, but they are making a whole anon internet rather than just a currency. Its a pretty cool project, although it hasn't actually launched yet so you can only buy pre-release tokens using the Master protocol (eg from here: http://masterxchange.com/)

Instead of mining you have 'farmers' who allow their spare disk space to be used like servers to store files. All data is shredding an stored in multiple locations - no individual location has enough of the file to reconstruct it themselves.

Given the recent news about TOR it seems like an good alternative may be needed right now, and something which uses crypto to reward people for providing resources to run the system could potentially make it much nicer to use than TOR, which can be very slow.

You should definitely take a look at least and see what you think.

Does Safecoin have more features than just storage facility? The posts above.make it sound like you can use it to browse websites like the internet.

It can be used for creating decentralized apps as well as just cloud storage. From their website:

"Examples of client apps are; cloud storage, encrypted messaging, web sites, crypto wallets, document processing of any data provided by any program, distributed databases, research sharing of documents, research and ideas with IPR protection if required, document signing, contract signing, decentralized co-operative groups or companies, trading mechanisms and many others. The clients can access every Internet service known today and introduce many services currently not possible with a centralised architecture."

Think ipad with apps on client side doing all the processing and no server side processing.

Load ubuntu 64 bit and try the testnet binary at darkcointalk. It's working already.
