Facebook is not accepting/utilizing BTC itself, however there is an app that is going to integrate with FB to allow for sending BTC via FB messaging.
Personally I would not want my BTC associated with my FB account.

Yeah that is a really easy way for people/government to keep tabs on your bit coin holdings and addresses.

Hope so too, but if Facebook start to accept BTC just for a week that will be HUGE. I am sure that Mark Zuckerberg knows about Bitcoin and may be has an account here.

If you can advertise and pay with BTC on Facebook this will help a lot the community and the stable price of BTC. Lot of people pay for FB credits to play games , they even buy FB credits and FB gold from Black markets.

I doubt they ever would do that. Doing that would bring a lot of attention to Bitcoin, and that's something the US Government probably doesn't want.

In June 2012, Facebook announced it would no longer use its own money system, Facebook Credits. Users with credits will see them converted into their own currencies. In June 2014 they will replace credits with bitcoins?

Yes. That and inviting regulator into facebook doorstep is the last thing any company want, unless the benefit greatly out weight the cost.

facebook already has a proprietary token/credits systems, and i'd be surprised if it isn't already widely used. it doesn't seem necessary for them to pursue bitcoin. but maybe i'm missing something...

I could see Facebook coming to accept bitcoin in exchange for their own credits. I mean, why not? Payment processing is cheap, and they get another niche of customers who otherwise would not pay. Win/win.

This would make much more sense that having they credits. I imagine many people would join with bitcoin that wouldn't do so with the current system, just because it's weird to have credits that are only valid for one website.

But Facebook wants you to have credits stuck on their site. Just like businesses want you stuck with their gift cards, rather than cash that can be spent anywhere. It's guaranteed business.
