I am trying to follow the instruction to get my wallet setup in Windows but I am having no luck.  I have all the files and have downloaded the latest blockchain.bin from the OP but my wallet just keeps saying:

"Failed to connect to any of seed peers, continuing without seeds"

Can anyone provide any info on what I may have wrong?

TFT pulled his seed nodes, you need to add new ones:
Code:
bitmonerod --seed-node 62.210.78.186:18080 --seed-node 195.12.60.154:18080 --seed-node 54.241.246.125:18080 --seed-node 107.170.157.169:18080 --seed-node 54.207.112.216:18080 --seed-node 78.27.112.54:18080 --seed-node 209.222.30.57:18080 --seed-node 80.71.13.55:18080 --seed-node 107.178.112.126:18080

Code:
XMR: 44GBHzv6ZyQdJkjqZje6KLZ3xSyN1hBSFAnLP6EAqJtCRVzMzZmeXTC2AHKDS9aEDTRKmo6a6o9r9j86pYfhCWDkKjbtcns

It is supposed to checkpoint to disk, but apparently it didn't. Double check that you don't have a disk problem (out of disk space, etc.) and once it syncs up the next time, type "save" in the daemon window.

Thanks for the tips. This coin really is for geeks (funny thing is - I AM one !). Now I can see why nobody's buying it - it's not even out of alpha yet.

ok, I've downloaded the blockchain but can't find any info as to where I should locate it. If I put it in the same folder as the daemon, then the log entry says 'Unable to load blockchain, creaating genesis block'. On the other hand, if I look in users/AppData/Roaming etc, there's no sign of a Monero folder created by the daemon.

If I downloaded the Windows binaries, do I still need to install any 3rd party support infrastructure (there was on cited on the Wallet download page but I forgot the name right now).

Thanks again for the tips !

EDIT: FOund where the blockchain goes - it's in a folder called 'bitmonero' in roaming, not monero.

Bitcoin itself was once a geeky skeletal framework. In fact in either case, it's not the coin itself that is geeky but rather the underlying technology. The task at hand is to bring the technology to the masses which is an evolutionary process.

I am the masses.  I'm interested i'm Monero due to the involvement of people I respect.  I have no computer skills.  My new computer is windows 8.1 with a pentium chip Embarrassed so I wont be mining.  I started using btc over a year ago.  I have never downloaded the blockchain as I have only used the electrum wallet.  I have considered purchasing XMR but the process of downloading, setting up, and transferring is daunting.  I don't want use an exchange for storage.  I see that an attempt is being made to make a deterministic wallet.  Will this mean no downloading of the blockchain like electrum?

Any advice on how to get started with Monero would be appreciated.

Actually I would say I am the mass. I heard of btc about six months ago. Have never used btc. Did not own a single cryptocurrency. Started with byet coin bcn and had it running in 3 hours.

I think the word daunting means many things to many people. But I would say using mro/XMR is not daunting

Master has been updated with this commit: https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero/commit/feac5a7b2ddce8f4612ecc459b176518061495b3

It seems to prevent the high orphan issue at pools (thanks Boolberry!)

Pool operators should pull and compile the latest code.

I updated http://mropool.org with this patch. It would still be very much appreciated if a few people would help me to find a block so I can see if everything works as it should.

The Mac Wallet and GUI Miner that can be downloaded from http://mropool.org makes it actually very easy to start (CPU) mining if you are on a Mac (OS X 10.9). (Direct link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/cnywy3xsncfgcfq/Monero%20Wallet-0.2.zip)

Thanks!

Thanks for your answer. I will take your advice.
I was using v0.8.8.2.1. The last mandatory update I see was to 0.8.8, so the version was up to date or am I wrong?

That version is old, there were some issues with versioning numbers before, so we had to roll back the numbering. Please download the version in the OP and use that.

Thanks for info. It was hard to realize 0.8.8.2.1 was outdated while v0.8.8.1 was up to date.

"Upgrating" and resyncing solved the problem Smiley

You seem to have an extra space between R and o in the address segment fHsGRoyZk3ES.

It's not visible to the naked eye but take it into a notepad editor and it's right there.

You don't have to create a Payment ID to receive an XMR payment. All you have to do is send to your XMR address.

Payment IDs are for exchanges so they know who deposited what (as all deposits go to the same address).

I understand your point, but I need one in order to be refounded by Bittrex.
First I send XMRx from Bittrex to Poloniex without payment ID.
Poloniex cleans his hands but Bittrex ask me for one payments ID so they can credited my lost moneros.
Excuse my poor english. It is not my native language.

In order to reclaimed your coin at Poloniex you need to provide them with the transaction ID.

maybe guess ill just point it towards feathercoin in the mean time until Monero gets bigger and MoneroCoin gets more valuable as a TDL

Why does Bittrex need a payment ID to credit your lost XMR? Payment IDs are 64-character strings, which means any 64 letters or numbers in a row.
