actually, Japan fcked the whole thing up, if they continued the invasion on the USSR instead of attacking the US, USSR would fall

I don't think so. The USSR was able to defeat the Nazis almost single-handedly. The Japanese ranked far below both the Germans and the Soviets, as far as military capabilities were concerned. A combined attack by the Nazis and Japs? My guess is that the Soviets would have still won...

Russia takes retaliatory steps against NATO buildup near border – military

Russia has to take retaliatory measures as NATO is building up its forces near the country’s borders, General Valery Gerasimov, the chief of general staff of the Russian armed forces, said on Friday. “NATO's military groupings in the Baltic states, Poland and Romania are being built up, as well as the military presence of the bloc in the Baltic, Mediterranean and Black Sea,” Reuters quoted Gerasimov as saying at a conference in Moscow. The events in Ukraine have aggravated a military-political situation in Europe, he said.

Good. The United States went ballistic in the 1960s, when the Soviets moved some missile close to the US - Cuba border. But they have no problem in conducting military exercises near the Russian border. Hypocrites.

In the 1960s it all started with the United States installing intermediate-range ballistic missiles in Turkey during April 1962... The history seems to repeat itself! Cool

I would like to see where these ships will dock. Crimea has merged with Russia (the best ports, such as Sevastopol were located there) and violent protests are ongoing in Odessa.

Seems its destination is Odessa...
Warm welcome is expected.

Here is what happened in Sevastopol 8 months ago, when NATO ships entered hero-city Sevastopol, the pride of Russian sailors:

Before they managed to go ashore, they had to listen for several hours what exactly locals think of them. Smiley

1960s is a very long time ago, they have since changed policy. They do military exercise on all borders now (legal and illegal). Despite this I agree with you, its hypocrite.

Good luck with that.... Odessa will break away from Ukraine in a matter of months. Especially after the infamous trade union office human BBQ. Soon Ukraine will be left with no Black Sea coast.

Actually, it's directly related. Very funny to see how those, who unable to choose "against all" option in the ballot, are constantly pushing this "undemocratic russians" bullshit propaganda round the forum like dung-beetles instead of trying to open the eyes and read the fucking textbooks.

So you see this option (or its absence) as a reason toward invading Russia, right? Cool

Senator Ben Cardin (Democrat, United States Senator from Maryland) going ballistic over Russia. His latest tweets:

Diplomacy is the way to solve conflicts. We will not recognize the results of what Russia has done in the region.

Russia has violated every Helsinki accord. The intl national community must denounce what they have done with a united voice.

The Jupiter missiles with nuclear warheads started to be installed on Turkey, directed to the Soviet Union, on 1961. That indeed created the next year the biggest crisis of the Cold War between the two States, the Cuban missile crisis, because the Soviet Union tried to do to the USA exactly the same thing: install nuclear missiles on Cuba.

Haven't US embarrass itself enough?

The Americans don't care much about their international reputation. All that matters is support back home. Whenever the US invades some third world country, the support for the ruling class rises, as evident from the bombing of Serbia in 1999. Bill Clinton's popularity was at rock bottom, and the bombing helped him to regain the lost ground.

I opened this thread with a comparison to 1812, however something Balthazar wrote yesterday in another thread, while answering whether Staling believed multiple reports of an imminent attack on the Soviet Union by Hitler's Germany, brought forth a comparison to 1941. Here is an excerpt from his quote:

...
What makes you think that he didn't believe the received information? Of course he believed, but he couldn't do anything.

  • If USSR would have made the first move, then Hitler would have an ideological advantage. This is very important. Then he would be able to sign an agreement on mutual assistance with US or anybody else and this would strengthen his positions.
  • If the troops would be deployed near the border, this would be interpreted as preparation for the invasion, giving the same ideological advantage.

You will be surprised, but we see the same situation right now. Obama along with his puppets would like very much to see, how Russia occupies Ukraine. They are continuously put the blame on Putin for invasion to east regions, troops near the border, etc. They're are using fake evidences, old photos as the "proofs" and attacking own troops in the friedly fire.

Similar things were seen on the western soviet borders in 1940-1941:

http://podvig.gpk.gov.by/article/history_border_services/border_on_the_eve_of_war/

So the best option is simply ignore all provocations, don't do anything and wait for the first move. Just like Putin does right now.
