Actually he have some quite real power, you can see a description of his responsibilities on the government site.

http://government.ru/gov/responsibilities/

Usage of strategic bombers is not within his competence. But it won't stop him from trolling, of course.

Could you please translate this one:

oбycтpoйcтвa гocyдapcтвeннoй гpaницы Poccийcкoй Фeдepaции;

I learned the bits of russian too long ago to understand it and google translate makes a mess of it.

What the hell does it really mean when it comes to real life execution?
It's about infrastructure of state borders. There are some proper measures which have to be applied when new border appears. Organization of checkpoints operation, construction of border outposts, mining of adjacent areas if necessary.

And digging a trench with crocodiles (Ukrainian version), lol... Cool

The relationship between France and Russia has been a rocky one. 1812 is not forgotten still, though it is forgiven. French participation in Crimean War is not forgotten either, but the price for it was paid during WWI, when Russia was not to keen to come to French aid. Still Russia has been more lenient when it came to the forgive part, when French were concerned...

Should have posted this article here:

NATO ‘beefing up muscles’ over Ukraine crisis a mistake – Russia
http://rt.com/news/163472-churkin-ukraine-nato-buildup/

What interested me the most, are the following three reader comments:

Quote
Markov 04.06.2014 11:16

I wish to apologize to the world at large for the lying human garbage that passes as governance in the USA. The hypocrisy & duplicity of the likes of Obama, Kerry, Bush, Cheney, Biden, Nuland, Psaki, Wolfowitz, etc. (the list could go on for a very long time of course) is an embarrassment to people of conscience everywhere, and rest assured there are some (but not enough) of us here in the USA.

Can't wait for our most nauseating holiday (July 4) when we pretend that we are still a free nation. They will read the Decalaration of Independence, and then promptly forget every principle for which it stands.

Mikhas 04.06.2014 11:19

Not only a mistake. It´s the same mistake The Swedes, Napoleon and Hitler did and it wont take WW3 for NATO to vanish from the face of the earth, Ukraine is undoubtedly their final grave. The last of arses we would see above the tomb will be Anders Foggy Ratmussen´s.

Only a complete idiot would conjure up and encourage primitive Nazi freaks, the heirs of the genocidal mass murderer Bandera, against a people that has won every Drang Nach osten in history, the latest to the tune of of 25 million people fighting for our right not to live under fascism.

Markov 04.06.2014 11:25

If you think things are bad now, wait until Hillary gets elected (and rest assured, she WILL be the next president) - she will be itching for a fight with Putin just so she can show him she has bigger, hairier balls than he has.

I hope I am wrong, but I don't see how we don't end up in another Cold War or even real war....only now because of all the lying about not advancing NATO the war mongers likely feel they have more and better cards to play than in the Soviet days, since they are moving their missiles so much closer.

France is also in quite dire economic situation. The tax revenue has plummeted after François Hollande introduced the crazy 75% income tax. Had they dumped the Mistral deal with Russia, then thousands of French jobs would have been lost, along with billions of USD in revenue.

More on France:

NATO’s merry-go-round electronic surveillance in the Black Sea
http://rt.com/news/163484-nato-black-sea-eavesdropping/

Quote
The Surcouf is believed to be busy eavesdropping “communications of military installations stationed along the coastline and collecting electronic intelligence on strategically important administrative infrastructure objects of the Crimea peninsula,” the source said.

The Surcouf replaced another French intelligence ship, Dupuy de Lome, which had been present in the Black Sea from May 14. Dupuy de Lome, a vessel designed for radar monitoring and capable of intercepting communications, including phone calls and e-mails, had previously been deployed to the Black Sea from April 11 to April 30.

By the way, when looking up the Crimean War on Russian Wikipedia, I saw an interesting section on the propaganda war before and during the actual military activities. Quite a lot of parallels to the present day. I'll post a separate entry on it later...

I know Hillary has assumed more aggressive positions on Afghanistan, Libya or Syria than even Obama, but you really see her invading Russia? Come on...

So, the US interfered in Ukraine political situation, therefore Russia can invade it and annex a part of its territory...

Can't one distance himself from his State interests when one is commenting on a forum? I saw Russians protesting against the movement against Crimea. I doubt that all Russians have a clean conscience on that.

Hillary Clinton is a criminal and should be tired in La Hague for her murderous acts. Benghazi will destroy the bitch!

Looks like France tries to maneuver in difficult political waters, and not to anger US outright:

01:29
France to deliver Mistral ships to Russia, if no new EU sanctions introduced

Two French Mistral aircraft carriers will be delivered to Russia on time, if no further sanctions are introduced by the EU against Moscow, French President Francois Hollande said. “France will fulfill its contract obligations and sees no obstacles for delivering the warships on time,” Hollande said in Brussels. “The situation will be certainly different…, if European sanctions are imposed [against Russia],” Itar Tass quotes. Under the contract, Russia is to receive the first of the two warships in October this year.

Fines are only part of the problem. Other consequences can include loss of employment for thousands of French citizens, damaged reputation for the already waning French arms producers, and a loss of revenue.

As I got it, Nato showed a desire to buy those warships, so France may get some consolation after all... Cool
