to help me understand there will be a snapshot of the nxt blockchain in dec and for every nxt you get 0.5 ignes?
Do we have to keep the nxt in the wallet to get ignes coin? thanks for the info look quite interesting to me

At Nxt block 1630000, expected on Christmas day, a snapshot will get for each account

1) The NXT balance, and will return 0.5 IGNIS / 1 NXT
2) The JLRDA coin balance (the token used in the ICO sale from Jelurida), and will return 1 IGNIS / 1 JLRDA
3) The ARDR asset balance, and will return 1 main chain Ardor token / 1 ARDR

All the supply will be distributed like this, so all the accounts with NXT will get IGNIS. What is important here is that you have the passphrase for the account where your NXT/JLRDA/ARDR are, because the same passphrase will unlock the account in Ardor main net where the new coins have been placed.

In principle everyone should have the passphrase for their Nxt accounts. One exception might be users of the myNXT web wallet, that in order to have the passphrase for the account they operate with myNXT they need to download a wallet backup. Since the myNXT web wallet closes at the end of 2017, all myNXT users who haven't downloaded a copy of their wallet should do it ASAP. This, or sending their NXT to an accout they hold the passphrase for.

For any other details, see https://www.jelurida.com/ardor-release-timeline

Ok thanks , so i download the NXT wallet version NRS: 1.11.9, i still have my nxt on bittrex and i am planning to sent all the nxt to my wallet ,  i am still on time for snapshot ? where i will get the ignis tokens to my nxt wallet? thanks for the info

So with the NXT Blockchain Toolkit, which was recently released, people can easily create assets and currencies that would kind of work like ERC20 tokens? Or would it be independent blockchains, i.e. NXT clones?

The Blockchain toolkit would enable people to create independent NXT clones (see this description). The "token-like" functionality is already integrated in NXT. There are two ways to create ICO tokens: "Assets" and the "Monetary System" for currency-like assets.

In this regard, isn't it an advantage for Ethereum that it is so big that projects choosing it to run their tokens on can be sure it will still exist in 2 years from now while NXT is somewhat declining?! Just would like to hear your opinion on it.

Yes, that may be one of the reasons - some don't give NXT much more life after the snapshot, but mostly I think it's simply the stronger brand/presence of Ethereum compared to NXT.

I'll wait and see, because with Ardor, ICOs will also be possible to be created in the same way like with NXT, although I don't know if the developers plan to integrate some "NXT-only" features. However I don't think the "NXT 1" chain (Ardor is "NXT 2") will die completely, I can even imagine it - because of its "tradition" and its pretty well-known name - to stay in the top 100 coins by marketcap, like Peercoin did for a lot of time even when development stalled completely for years (with PPC ironically, now development has started again and it fell out of the top100).

It is confusing because there are so many coins. NXT / ARDR / IGNIS and not sure how many more will come. Why cant it be a single coin? Sorry .. I am just trying to understand.

This is not yet another ICO where some coin is launched, this is the turning point for one established platform to deliver another. And this new platform is, by definition, going to host eventually many different coins because it is a multi-blockchain platform.

NXT, that was born in 2013, is the platform where Ardor was designed and from which it was developed. And it also is used to set the initial distribution of tokens for the new platform.

ARDR will be the main chain token of the Ardor platform. And before it runs on its own blockchain (starting January 1st, with the launch and the Ardor genesis block) it has been initially distributed on, and traded on, the NXT platform as an NXT asset.

And IGNIS is the token for the first child chain (or sub-chain, or whatever you prefer to name it for clarity) that will be hard-coded in the Ardor platform at launch. While the main chain, and ARDR, will be only used to secure the whole platform and generate the new blocks in the chain, IGNIS can be used for all the other things that its predecessor, NXT, can do: issue assets and currencies, send messages, cast votes, define smart transactions, sell digital goods, etcetera. All these features will also be available for any additional child chains that Ardor might include in the future.

The only naming that may appear as unnecessarily confusing is the JLRDA token, a currency in the NXT blockchain that the developers are using for half of the distribution of the future IGNIS coin, the half sold in the ICO. It would have seemed easier for them to use the same name for the token, IGNIS. But I suspect that, if they did not do it this way, it was because the code name IGNIS was already used for a currency in the Nxt monetary system. Or squatted by someone who moved fast and wanted to exploit it. Since these token names cannot be duplicated, the developers had to go for a different token name for the sale.

I understand that this scenario is more complex than other ones you may have seen for other projects being born, but hopefully what I explained can help you to understand that there's reasons behind the apparent complexity.

Why don't you develop the initial coin NXT rather than creating so many assets ..
This is so confusing creating assets and people don't interest in.
If you had with NXT it might be on Top 10 crypto coins as it was earlier than ETH and with such good team .

2) The JLRDA coin balance (the token used in the ICO sale from Jelurida), and will return 1 IGNIS / 1 JLRDA

Since the myNXT web wallet closes at the end of 2017, all myNXT users who haven't downloaded a copy of their wallet should do it ASAP. This, or sending their NXT to an accout they hold the passphrase for.

Of course you have enough to plan for the snapshot.
As it is said, the snapshot is expected on Christmas day, just make sure you are ready before that.

Thanks mate really appreciate your help. Yes everything is ready to me, yesterday did buy quite a lot NXT coin, price is quite cheap at the moment i think i did buy at the best time i could, today i can see is better than yestarday but don't care really, it is just a few satoshi less. The new wallet version looks great. Still remember in July NXT at 5K sat and i think in December we will see again around this price.

The devs have said they'll support Nxt for at least three years. See for example Arthur Penzl on Medium. It doesn't cost a lot to run some full nodes for it. The bigger issue is whether enough other people use it to give it enough value that the security model works. However, in my view over three years Ethereum is not a sure bet either.

Why don't you develop the initial coin NXT rather than creating so many assets ..
Two reasons. First, is that the new Ardor architecture for child-chains was too radical to be retro-fitted to the old coin. Second, introducing a new chain, with a new social contract, provided the opportunity to raise much-needed funds.

Under current market situation, it is easy to lose money for altcoins investors.
people are keeping dumping all altcoins to accumulate more bitcoins. It might continue to be so for a while.

There seem to be a ton of spam accounts right now - all with about a dozen random questions spread on different topics. Often nonsensical.
Notice how that user asked the question "I've already seen some similar ICO, why are you different?" in another thread, it's the same that you can see above by another:

I've already seen some similar ICO, why are you different?

... just saying. There seems to be an attack going on.

I don't know about myNXT wallet but you can use the official NRS client. It will work after November.

Do you need to have NXT in your wallet or will an exchange do the snapshot as well? If an exchange won't, what happens to the other IGNIS that would have gone to those NXT holders?
