Ok, so the new client looks great and seems to work really well. Can someone help with a problem: As I mentioned, I already bought some NXT and put them in an account made with a 30-character random key. I'm currently using an old Android app and it doesn't work well. I can't send out from it. When I started Wesley's new client, I assumed I'd be able to use the same key, but it requires a 35-character key. So, how do I use my current key, or sweep the funds into my new account?
It doesn't require one, it just warns you that less than 35 is not secure. You can use it to log in. I just logged into his app with a 7 character password without issue.

I started by creating an account - didn't realise you could just log in with an existing password. May I send you 1 NXT to thank you and secure my account? Also - you use a 7-character password? Isn't that kind of risky?

Either way, I think I'll retire it asap. I assume I can just enter my privkey into Wesley's client and get started.
Exactly. That is why we call it a brain wallet.

Since you're offering to forge I might loan you my balance to try it out. Edit: says your account is unknown - no transactions in or out yet. Is that right and if so, are you only forging with loaned balances?

Since you're offering to forge I might loan you my balance to try it out. Because it publishes your public key to the network which was before undisclosed. That means your NXTs are safe (for a very long time - remember cryptography is always bruteforcable but that requires huge amounts of energy and time) You can do that. Unfortunately, I have to pay 1 NXT to get it back to you. Tell me, when you are ready. EDIT: I like the new client, too. All other clients are so 80.

It is. I believe he logged in just to check if you can with passphrase shorter than 35 chars. You can login using whatever passphrase comes to your mind.

I plan to start a pool because I run Nxt nodes. So, the client is right. No transactions so far which is not much of a problem. I will deploy a payout system once leasing of forging power is active on the main net.

For those interested in Launch day (or soon after IPOs) on the Asset Exchange, you can look here for a list of companies that have made annoucements (though I have been meaning to update the OP so it is easier to follow ) James is launching a couple of his interesting projects and Graviton will be moving DGEX shares to the exchange in the days/weeks after initial launch. Anon136 has announce his silver bullion company but in the forum but has yet to confirm in the thread below his intentions. Exciting! https://nxtforum.org/news-and-announcements/asset-exchange-ipos-launch-day-listings!/suppose i'm trading one of Anon136's silver bullion coupons on the NXT decentralised exchange. Can I redeem it for the silver bar and how?

It is. I believe he logged in just to check if you can with passphrase shorter than 35 chars. You can login using whatever passphrase comes to your mind. This is a good time to talk about our Nxt Bots and why you need a use strong passphrases (like the ones generated in the new client) **** BotsA Bot in general is an automated computer program. In the case of Nxt, the bots have been programmed to find the account numbers to all accounts associated with Weak Passphrases (such as ‘Dog’, ‘12345’ and ‘opensesame’). They continuously scan the Blockchain looking for Transactions happening in these accounts. Once a Transaction is detected, the Bots then automatically log into the account and move the NXT to an account they control. This often only takes a matter of minutes from the transaction into the account and nothing can be done to retrieve the stolen NXT. It is therefore VERY IMPORTANT to use a Strong Passphrase to ensure that your NXT are not stolen. Also see Brainwallet. **** Source: The Nxt Glossary >>>> https://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Glossary \pluggety-plug-plug

Just use the same key. NXT account= secret phrase. It doesn't depend from client.

Just use the same key. NXT account= secret phrase. It doesn't depend from client. Yes - done that now. The original confusion was in starting the client for the first time and being required to enter a 35-character key. My other one was 'only' 30 characters.

Indeed. Just thought you wanted to publish your public key to the network. Btw. maybe publishing your Nxt address would be great.
