I want to invest in some color coins and after briefly skimming through all their specs/prices/community threads, this one intrigues me the most mainly because the price is so damn low and theremight be great potential. The 'no premine no IPO' sounds enticing but how are all the 380M coins already in circulation? Were they instamined? Is the original dev still with the team? No offense to this community but judging from his posts, seems like he wanted to create a quick pump and dump scheme to make a fast profit. Hope I am wrong. What are the future goals with development and implentation? Why should I invest in this coin over some of the other color coins?

What are the future goals with development and implentation? Why should I invest in this coin over some of the other color coins?

The original Dev "bigman" did create this coin originally when the color coin fad was at its peak, and really had no intention to see it through to multiple exchanges, build a userbase etc. Somewhere down the road, the people invested in the coin began showing an overwhelming support for the coin... like they really wanted the coin to go somewhere rather than die at 1 sat someday. Bigman was seen less frequently and we all know what happens to a coin when the dev disappears Smiley

So a point came where a bunch of us came together and organized a bunch of events like giveaways, re tweets, refilling faucets etc and revived the coin. We're also slowly rebranding the coin to move away from the colour coins category and associate it with breast cancer awareness. To reinforce that, we starting a breast cancer fundraiser event for the National Breast Cancer Foundation and its going to have a two fold effect. One... Pink would be associated with something more serious and more importantly have a focus. Two.... we're giving 100 PC for every dollar donated so we get a lot of non crypto crowd through social media to "discover" crypto through pink. And what do you do when you discover something? You tell it to your friends Smiley Word of mouth is an extremely effective tool of advertising and the plan is to spread the word of pink to the uninitiated Smiley

So I highly recommend you invest in pink at the moment, because I can assure you.... these prices will not come back once we get the ball rolling. It would be like trying to get BlackCoin for 600 sats now.

Yes a new ANN thread is coming. We're currently working on the website etc that will be the contents of the new ANN page. I'm guessing we should have one in 3-4 days.

You cannot distroy coins that are already in circulation. The mining stage is over and the entire coins are in teh hands of the people.

There's actually fewer than 380M coins. That was more or less an estimate Bigman made when we hit POS/POW phase, because despite POW blocks being valid until block 20,000, it was 50/50 POW/POS from block 10,000 to 20,000, so only half the blocks were expected to be mined at the full value. It's worth noting that during the mining phase everyone thought there was going to be 500m coins, it didn't come out until later that there were far fewer.

Here are the only issues I can find:

Currently (as of writing) we are on block 76649 and there are 363,973,182 PC available. We're actually knocking out blocks about 2.5x faster than the quoted 1block/minute, which, while odd, isn't producing that many more coins. Comparing to the number of coins available now to the number there were at block 20,000 shows we're actually getting about 1.5% per year proof of stake.

There was a bit of an instamine where the first 500 blocks were mined in the first 13 minutes after launch by a handful of people. Looking through the addresses, it seems all those were dumped long ago.

When people started dumping and the dev didn't seem to be interested in doing anything with the coin (beyond occasionally taking part in things we were doing early on, something we encouraged. We wanted Bigman to stay on board, CryptoCayce gave him 500k pinkcoins as a thank you for creating the coin when he was getting more active again and helping.) We started a semi-community takeover, got a slick block explorer from fairglu (thanks again man!) and extremely generous faucet online (thanks for the help there Ghris and Altcoinfaucet!) and a solid OS X Wallet (Thanks W8!), but when Bigman flat out took the PinkCoin source offline last week and stopped responding to us we had to re-think things.

Since then we're on the verge of a full relaunch with a full fledged Breast Cancer Fundraiser, a new website, a new marketing campaign, a new everything. We've even got a multipool all lined up for us as soon as we can raise the 3m pinkcoins (We're almost halfway there in less than 24 hours!).  I'm actually just waiting to hear back from Sonysasankan before putting on some finishing touches then coordinating the relaunch with him. Hence: this is the best time to invest!

Anyway, I hope I've answered all of your questions and alleviated some of your concerns. If you, or anyone else for that matter, has any questions please feel free to ask!

EDIT: I guess I'm not waiting for a message from Sonysasankan anymore!

Hey, that's actually a neat idea. But I'm afraid it would have to wait as implementing something like that is quite complex and time consuming. It would put the exchanges in hold too. Coin 2 is also implementing something like that after they faced a double spend attack. Its frozen for about a week I think and they're still working the bugs out. It takes too long and we can consider that once pink rises in prices and finds a new stable floor.

That's part of what's so awesome about this community;) We just randomly donate to PC addresses:) And heaven forbid you do something productive for PinkCoin! The guy that did our block explorer ended up with 3x the bounty we offered because everyone wanted to tip him for his work!

P.S. It wasn't me. This time.

Hi All,

I'm fairly new to the alternative crypto-universe and typically just stuck with bitcoin. I came across PC and I really like what the community is doing here. Obviously, it's unfortunate that the original dev left, but it's amazing how the community bound together to keep the coin going. Kudos Smiley It's overcoming adversity despite all the obstacles that makes something great, and that's exactly what I think we are doing here!

Also I'm a huge breast cancer awareness supporter and I love where you guys are taking PC. I'd be pretty cool if we could get a vendor that sells the pink ribbons, rubber bracelets, and other "awareness" apparel to take PC.

Also just donated a little over 100K PC for the multipool fund Smiley

We are in the voting on Mintpal, so feel free to add a vote every now and then Smiley

And I don't think many people are watching this thread, and the ones that are have kept pretty quiet about all the announcements. We are all still accumulating more while it's low, I think, or atleast I am Tongue

I think most of the dumpers are coming from the last little pump. As per the usual altcoin impatient market, people buy when they see price/volume increase. And bail when it goes down.
