Lionel Messi wins Golden Ball award for best player of World Cup. The Golden Glove award for the tournament’s outstanding goalkeeper went to Germany’s Manuel Neuer. France’s Paul Pogba was named the World Cup’s best young player, while Colombia were given the fair play award.
Poor Colombia, that's like a kick in the cross

I really don't understand why Messi got the Golden Ball award. He did nothing. Every goal he scored was textbook and they were all the same.

Yes i don't understand it too! He did nothing in this World Cup and he didn't help his team in the last 4-5 match.... Also i think that the best young player was James Rodriguez and not Pogba...

It's never to early but perhaps a general soccer thread would be a nice addition. Nice idea. I opened a thread here. Let's talk about new season transfers.

Well for me it's more like the only time soccer is on the TV is the World Cup and the Eurocup Otherwise its football (American Football) Hockey and Basketball/ Baseball in rotation. Intermixed with a tennis match now and then.

Plus some other cities. After the Olympics Sochi probably has the best stadiums in the country at the moment.

Putin reportedly supposed to spend 18 billion dollars on the World Cup in 2018.
Too bad the Russian squad couldn't even get past group stage in an easy group. They will need a ton of match fixing in their homeland to advance.
