No-one usually cares about the 3rd/4th play off. I remember the last time the Netherlands played it (in '98 against Croatia after we undeservedly lost against Brazil in the semis after penalty kicks). I didn't even watch the match. I'm not sure why the game for 3rd place is not abolished. I know the Olympic people try to get people to believe that the third place is a prize but it's really not.

Simply to get more sales and so they can fill a podium in the olympics
There are three medals to give out and what not so they need to have a third medal match.

Not sure if FIFA had a podium though but it's probably because they had 16 Teams brought it down to 8 and the battle for Third is just tradition.
But feel free to correct me on that not sure of it myself

There isn't a third match playoff for the UEFA European Championship (which over the course of it's existence has been of a higher level than the actual world cup).

Germany vs Uruguay in the 2010 Cup was a good game to watch. There are some good games sometimes, and it can be important for selections with less tradition, for example, Portugal, Iuguslavia and Polish Poland.

I can remember Croatia in '98 being very happy to beat the Dutch in the 3rd/4th pay-off. The Dutch papers still wrote more about the lost semi final (a week later).

Waiting for the Brazil vs Germany game

I felt too much diving german
and it was making me upset

Well went back in the thread because I remember this picture
Was not expecting this to ring so true lol

Hey I posted this picture first(click on the comment to see).

Here are more:

Brazilian football has many problems, their national teams are poor managed, and the selection's coach recently made a bad campaign in one of the local teams, and selected less expressive and talented players for this World Cup for some unknown reason.

I don't know about USA soccer, but Brazil is falling behind in the football world, both selection and teams.

Brazil is going home, o w8 they are home  Grin Grin

Shame they play like kids from the block, but hell they even manage to make a record, they are first team that received 5 goals in 30 minutes of play in WC tournaments all time. Done some research only Tahiti received 5 goal in first half but no1 like Brazil last night.

Ok what the F*ck I mean Literally wtf .. .7-1...! It was looking like someone is playing Fifa on PS with 1st level of difficulty naa even they play better in level 1 difficulty . Never in their wildest dreams that someone predicted this score line.
I thought Neymar will be missed in this game but looking back they way Brazilian played seems like they missed Silva more. Now the questions will be raised about the team selection and all let the drama begin..!
The way Germans played in this game its gonna be hard for Netherlands or Argentina whoever qualifies tonight for the finals to stop this brute force.

Pretty much never in the history of the world cup have we seen such a pwnage
Well in our lifetimes and not including the normal weak island teams versus powerhouse teams but in World Cup History

Definitely a 50 year match and something that is on the history records.

Good old ESPN
http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/322639.html
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/brazil2014/post-game/world-cup-germany-7-brazil-1-1.2700360

History was made and to add insult to historical injury

* By scoring Germany's second goal, Miroslav Klose became the most prolific goal scorer in World Cup history. Klose now has 16 World Cup goals in his career, breaking a tie with Brazil's Ronaldo.

* Germany scored five goals in the first 29 minutes, the fastest any team has scored five goals in any game in World Cup history. Yugoslavia scored five in 30 minutes against Zaire in 1974.

* Germany's seven goals broke a record for most scored in a semifinal, previously at six, held by Uruguay and Argentina in 1930, and West Germany in 1954. No one had even scored five in a semi since Brazil beat France 5-2 in 1958.

* The six-goal margin of victory also broke the record of five in World Cup semi-finals.

* Germany are now the all-time top scoring team in World Cup history with 223 goals. They passed Brazil at 220 in the first half.

* Brazil's six-goal defeat equals their worst loss in team history - 6-0 to Uruguay in the 1920 Copa America.

The six-goal deficit matched Brazil’s worst ever international defeat in its glorious history. Prior to Tuesday’s debacle, Brazil’s most lopsided defeat was a 6-0 affair against Uruguay 94 years ago.

Translation Germany = New Brazil ^_^
Broke Brazils present World Cup History and even its past history in one game impressive.

Oh well I'll relish in the annihilation I won't see one of those for another 50 years on average when I'm an old man and most of us here are as well.
The next game will begin tomorrow and we can leave this in the window.

Anyone know the exact score odds for a 1-7 win to germany?

Think it's out of anyones range
After 5-0 pretty sure any bets over that range would just be included in the highest tier set.
