SCAM
Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Depends on the type of hack. If the password was stolen and completly deleted on his side, he would not have any access.

It's pretty unlikely though.

Many of you may know I'm shutting down CryptoALTeX due to lack of volume.

That said, I still have no idea why the crypto community prefers to trade on exchanges that promise stupid things and have not announced who they are.  If you trust your money with some anonymous neck beard how can you complain when they steal your coins?

Please trade somewhere that the owners make themselves known.  I have been clear and open with my customers the entire time.

Since I'm shutting down I'll go ahead and say that Bittrex is the place to be.  They have their profiles online along with their back ground histories.  They also now have more features than any other exchange when it comes to REAL trading.

For the love of god please stop supporting exchanges that refuse to release their information, no legit business is going to hide their identity.

How do you know his NXT address? Wasn't every NXT deposit sent to a separate ID so the exchange knew who it came from.

I'm sorry to hear that you are shutting down.

But you are right about volume. It's not volume enough for so many exchanges! Some will have to pull out to make it possible for others to exist at all.

I only hope it didn't happen something really bad to zip.. I know he's been working hard for a long, long time to get things to work.

My gut feeling is that he didn't scam. It doesn't seem right with how much work had been put into the exchange and all.

I really hope he comes back and makes amends. Maybe it was hacked and he can't deal with it right now for whatever reason. I hope he comes back and sorts it out! I don't hate you (yet) Ziplibrary please come back and let us know what's going on!

Zip if you are reading this it is much better to be honest and let the community know what is going on as soon as you can. Running and hiding won't work, someone will find you and if you are a decent guy like I think you are this will also haunt you forever. Come back zip! All we need is an update. Personally I'm patient and if the shit has really hit the fan I'll settle for half my funds on the exchange. You have to communicate or some people will start losing it.

I will let some reasonable time pass before the next steps will be set, but I would advise zip to come back, the consequences will be dire.

I don't know why people feel compelled to message me all updates they have, but if what those people say is true, Zip should buy himself a bodyguard and hide far away from civilization.

Spite is a bitch!

I've seen a lot of scammers and he really didn't seem like one.

First time for everything I suppose Sad

I'm not making my mind up for another 1-2 days. He pretty much ran it himself so anything could have happened, hopefully ...

Thanks, it was very stressful to run an exchange though.  If we were able to maintain 50btc volume I think the rewards would have been good  enough to keep the doors open.

Anyways, whether or not ZIP comes back and says they were hacked etc, he doesn't belong running an exchange.  Exchange operators should be in constant communication with their customers when there are issues, without you get FUD and all kinds of things that affect markets and peoples funds.

I would hope nobody would continue to put trust in an exchange or person who doesn't maintain communication with their customers, breached or not.
